Enjoy the power of NVIDIA 28nm Kepler architecture for a new level of gaming enjoyment with the ASUS GT640-1GD5-L graphics card. This GeForce GT 640 VGA card renders mind-blowing lifelike graphics and immersive 3D games like you have never experienced. An assortment of NVIDIA technology — including NVIDIA Adaptive Sync, NVIDIA Surround and FXAA Anti-aliasing Mode — offers you more than one way to elevate your gaming experience. The super alloy components and dust-proof fan ensure best-in-class durability and reliability for trouble-free gaming, even in the most demanding environments. The low-profile design is perfect for mini-ITX PCs.

  • newegg Super Alloy Power Premium alloys defeat the heat for cards that run better, cooler, and longer than reference.
  • newegg Dust-proof Fan The unique fan design dissipates heat efficiently while extending a graphic card’s lifespan by 25% (for reference).
  • newegg GPU Tweak GPU Tweak utility helps you modify and tune clocks, power consumption targets, voltages, and fan performance via an intuitive interface. Detailed specs and actual card status are available with GPU-Z. Monitoring widget provides real-time and detailed multi-parameter info. Automatically check and update drivers and BIOS versions. Sync GPU clocks and voltages for easier overclocking.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not only for maximum performance, but also for optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation, and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world-class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant, power-efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing; at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg New Anti-aliasing Mode: FXAA Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler-based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel.

4 out of 5 eggskills r7 240 ddr3

Pros: dvi-d duallink. the form factor is much sleeker than the BB r7 240, which required modding a slim case. this card would not have, so i regret not having gone with it in the first place.

Cons: Asus<3

1 out of 5 eggsSlow and Expensive

Pros: Sleek card in a low profile.

Cons: Really slow performance. My friend bought an AMD R7 250X card at a lower price and was able to play at much higher settings....

Other Thoughts: Another overpriced card. Should have done more research.

5 out of 5 eggsGood deal

Pros: Good price for the juice

Cons: None so far,
Not as bad as people state noise wish yes it a fan ?
No louder than the main cooler gezzz

Other Thoughts: What's to say Photoshop liked it and that was my objective :)
Not a gamer and I'm on a 220watt system and the default setting on the card are perfectly acceptable to the geeks I inquired to,
Windows experience went from 4.4 to 7.1 !
Jack it up and move on,
Cheers.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing!

Pros: very low power usage!.
idles at about 4-5 watts... amazing!
makes the desktop feel peppy.

Cons: fan is noisy...
does not include low profile card slot cover...
is 2 slots wide... (does not matter to me).

Other Thoughts: standard gpu hole pattern for replacement heatsinks (so that it can be made silent)

the heatsink included is beautiful... but noisy.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: No auxiliary power connector required. Low noise. Pretty good performance for biz and video apps.

Cons: Not the hottest video card for games.

Other Thoughts: If you have a tight spot that won't fit a double wide card or you need a second card this one works well. ASUS cards are all well made and this small footprint low power card shows what they do well.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy little monster

Pros: Speed I need, Decent Overclocking ability, Runs Cool, Great Value

Cons: No fan control, Crashes

Other Thoughts: I'm not a gamer so I wasn't looking for a card that could blow every other one out of the water. I merely wanted a cool quiet card for photo editing and internet application design. Paired with my 23" IPS monitor, this little card gives me a decent display.

The ASUS GPU Tweak gives me alot of control with OCing this little bad boy, and I've tried light stress tests to attempt to heat this thing up. I couldn't get it past 40c.

I am saddened to note that the tiny heat sink fan continuously runs at full RPM, and no utility I've found can change this. It's like a tiny hairdryer at idle. I've ordered an aftermarket heatsink for like 9 bucks which should remedy this issue.

I've also had some fun locking up and crashing this little card when running tests while overclocked. I am nearly positive that it is because I was using a 220w ITX PSU. Yes ASUS, I'm perfectly aware that Nvidea recommends at least 300w. Trust me, I'm a huge fan (no pun intended)... I have owned a few ASUS motherboards, two high end laptops, and a beautiful display from you and have always been impressed with your quality and attention to detail. This card is a good value regardless.

I actually decided to upgrade my case and PSU because I've realized that my dreams of having a tiny gaming PC with a large PSU would simply cost me too much. I will give you guys an update when I get my 450w PSU

Oh, and by the way. I am a twenty something MIS analyst and by no means am I here to say that I'm "humanity's gift to IS" or whatever that other guy was saying. I'm not going to list how many workstations I administer or how many VMware cores we are licensed for. I am merely here to offer my experience, take it as it's written and make up your mind based on specs and value.

If I didn't value silent PCs so much, I'd have given it a 5. Besides, by the end of the week, my upgraded heatsink with make it silent.

1 out of 5 eggsNever again ASUS

Pros: The Nvidia chip seems well designed and for a low profile card and has great potential for most graphical applications including decent gaming.

Cons: ASUS somehow found a way to tarnish the quality.

Other Thoughts: I say somewhat high on tech knowledge because I work on about 30 client PC's a week and I have been working on PC's long enough to know nobody has a high enough tech level to have witnessed everything in PC troubleshooting.

I have personally had a highend ASUS laptop fail on me twice the second failure was just outside of the MFG. So the same issue I had 3 months prior, mainboard failure, was outside of warranty, so I was left with a $1300 ASUS brick.

I didn't want to be biased because ASUS use to mean something when you were talking about quality pc parts. Apparently not anymore. I received my card put it into my new HTPC build and when I finally powered it on the noise was beyond acceptable for a HTPC. After testing everything individually it was easily narrowed down to the ASUS video card. When I took it out for inspection the fan on the heatsink was missing a single blade, as in broke off, right out of the packaging. I knew with this not having any reviews I should stay away but the Nvidia name and the price loured me in.

I have constantly seen these laptop gaming abominations made by ASUS fail on clients and I never pushed my bias on them. Things change, such is life and quality control with ASUS. I will never be duped by them again, stay far away.
