DirectCU II
Award-winning DirectCU II design continues to bring cooler and quieter operation to each generation of graphics cards. DirectCU II continues to combine the efficiency of direct contact copper heatpipes with the GPU, massive heatsink, and two fans to dissipate heat quickly. With different demands for power and temperature, ASUS exclusive DirectCU II now comes in a variety of flavors to bring at least 20% cooler performance while maintaining a standard in quiet operations.
GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II
DirectCU II Featuring a 10mm Heatpipe
The ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics card features a 10mm heatpipe instead of the conventional 8mm width. This particular variation boosts overall heat dissipation by up to 40% compared to the reference design, delivering 30% cooler and three times quieter operation.

Super Alloy Power & Digi + VRM
The application of DIGI+VRM integrates a 10-phase power design to use digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise level by 30% and enhance power efficiency by 15%. DIGI+VRM is designed with wider voltage modulation tolerance to improve overall stability as well as increase overclocking potential.
Multi-Directional CoolTech Fan
The CoolTech fan moves air downward and outward with its dual, integrated blade design offering wider and more consistent airflow to maintain cooler and quieter operation.
Included Backplate
Included backplate provides protection and support while increasing heat dissipation from the PCB.

Pros: This graphics card now over 2 years old absolutely demolishes anything i throw at it be it battlefield 4, hardline, sniper elite 3, GTA V, all on ultra, not to mention it has insane overcloking potential stock it runs at 888mhz i was able to get a very respectable and stable overclock of 1200 mhz during gameplay and have been running with it for over a year now. It stinks for anyone attempting to buy this card new now because to find one is difficult to find one not used is near impossible as im fairly certain its not made anymore, end of the day if your ever in a position to get this card i highly recommend it, although as of this review 06/09/15 you may want to go for say a geforce gtx 980 or the soon to be here 980 ti. My friend who recently ought a geforce gtx 980 gets roughl;y the same frame-rate as my 780 does more or less because of the overclock on it but for a card that is from 2013 to give a card from 2015 a solid run for its money is insane the geforce gtx 750 ti made me like nvidia but this card made me fall in love with the company, i have never had a graphics card so powerful, stable, quiet, and utterly outstanding, as games currently go i can see this cards being in my system another two years at least until i have to knock down the settings to medium its staying.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I smile every time i see this beast in my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Strong

Pros: A year down the road and this card is still hitting any game that comes out. Though the 900 series is stealing the spotlight, this 780 can nearly match that performance.
Not loud at all, extremely solid.
Beautiful backplate that should be a standard by now

Cons: Price fluctuation has died down but I would not pay over $500 considering how low it has gotten before.
Card still likes to sag a bit despite the reinforcements

Other Thoughts: For under $400 this 780 is a steal

2 out of 5 eggsAsus GTX 780

Pros: Thought this was a pretty good card and it was nice while it worked.

Cons: I have a lot of respect for Asus products generally, I have 2 of their motherboards, but this video card died after 2 months. Never overclocked once and heat was at 30C all the time. Poor quality I guess or it was a bad design.

Other Thoughts: I got a good price but this is not so good if you have to send it back. Careful before you buy.

4 out of 5 eggsGTX 780!!

Pros: Its a beast by far the best card I have ever owned. Its able to run BF4 at high everything. and it could run anything at ultra, really smooth. makes little noise. color red and it has a back plate aswell.

Cons: The price its a little too high. The Size of this card is enormous, I had to remove some hard-drive holder thingy to make it fit.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed on first run right out of box

Pros: Sorta works sometimes.

Cons: Has a huge amount of artifacts no matter what. Crashes on minecraft as well as all of my other games and even while I am simply surfing the internet.

Other Thoughts: I put it in got all the drivers loaded and all my fans plugged back in and the first time I used it my computer overheated and shut down. Since then I have gotten a liquid cooler an 850W power supply, and yes I have tried all the drivers. Absolutely nothing has helped. Almost about to give up on ASUS and Nvidia and go somewhere else with my money.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome GPU

Pros: Fantastic power, 3GB of VRAM is nice, cooler design is very effective, noise is kept at a pretty low level even at high RPM, included back plate is gorgeous.

Cons: The noise could be too much for some people when the fans are at high speeds, SLI connection point is not mounted high enough so the connector is sorta jammed up by the cooler though it works fine, running two of these cards means a lot of heat so be prepared to have good ventilation, 3GB of RAM isn't future proof but it's very good for now.

Other Thoughts: Since I am running 2560 for games I thought I'd use a single 780, but I found that dual 780's is the best way to do this. Current configuration has my top GPU at 80C and bottom around 70C at full load. I could ramp up the fan speeds but I haven't felt it to be necessary, as I don't plan to overclock them further until the performance is not sufficient. I absolutely love the aesthetic of the cards and they match my system very well. I can imagine that running these under water blocks and OC'd even further would be outstanding, but in their stock configuration they are excellent cards for an enthusiast gamer.

My bottom line: If you're looking for a budget card this is probably not for you. The 900 series is tempting for sure, but given their demand and price vs. actual performance gain it may not be worth it, especially if you're not planning on running 4K. If you want 2560 then this is the perfect choice.

1 out of 5 eggsArrived DOA

Pros: Well packaged and arrived within a week.

Cons: Arrived DOA

Other Thoughts: Plugged it in, green lights turned on but no video. Swapped with another GPU I had and that one worked. Put in a ticket for an RMA and waiting to send it back as soon as I hear back from Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsNo sli needed !!!

Pros: absolutely the most silent card I have ever owned.. the overclocking capabilities are awesome.. run every game at max settings and not even a little hiccup. Originally bought 2 of these for sli but there was no need!

Cons: haha! not possible with this card

Other Thoughts: this card is mated up with an asus z97 sabertooth, I7 4790k, 32gig of memory, and Samsung 840 evo 1tb. windows scored this setup an 8.8 and I haven't overclocked anything yet. :)
