DirectCU II
Award-winning DirectCU II design continues to bring cooler and quieter operation to each generation of graphics cards. DirectCU II continues to combine the efficiency of direct contact copper heatpipes with the GPU, massive heatsink, and two fans to dissipate heat quickly. With different demands for power and temperature, ASUS exclusive DirectCU II now comes in a variety of flavors to bring at least 20% cooler performance while maintaining a standard in quiet operations.
GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II
DirectCU II Featuring a 10mm Heatpipe
The ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics card features a 10mm heatpipe instead of the conventional 8mm width. This particular variation boosts overall heat dissipation by up to 40% compared to the reference design, delivering 30% cooler and three times quieter operation.

Super Alloy Power & Digi + VRM
The application of DIGI+VRM integrates a 10-phase power design to use digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise level by 30% and enhance power efficiency by 15%. DIGI+VRM is designed with wider voltage modulation tolerance to improve overall stability as well as increase overclocking potential.
Multi-Directional CoolTech Fan
The CoolTech fan moves air downward and outward with its dual, integrated blade design offering wider and more consistent airflow to maintain cooler and quieter operation.
Included Backplate
Included backplate provides protection and support while increasing heat dissipation from the PCB.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong Card

Pros: This card is very strong, and an absolute powerhouse. I'm driving 3k almost 60 fps at maxed out settings. This 780 overclocks very well, I've been running it overvolted at 1250mhz on the core and 6600mhz on the Vram for almost a year and never skipped a beat. I've never seen this card get over 70 degrees Celsius at 60% Fan speed even with it being due for a thermal compound replacement.

Cons: The card is very heavy, expect it to sag in the PCI-E slot.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Monster

Pros: - Keeps extremely cool -

It's incredible how cooled off this card will stay under load. I run Battlefield 4 at ultra settings with not hiccups and it stays roughly 52C.

- Noise level is minimal -

Even at full fan speed the card remains fairly silent. Now I'm not sure what others may consider quiet but personally it stays very quiet. It is audible yes, but not even noticable if you're consentrated on something.

- Runs anything you throw at it -

First thing I did when I finished my build was download and load up Battlefield 4. Cranked it all right up to ultra settigns and it is playing every map with the max number of players with zero interruptions.

- Software it comes with is simple and very useful -

Most people hate bloatware but the GPU Tweak program that the card come with is very useful and easy to use for anyone.

- Card is huge -

Now I know some may be confused why I put this as a pro so let me explain. If a part needs to be large to ensure quality than so be it, I also prefer the larger size because I know it usually will stay cooler. It's also kind of fun to look at a big graphics card. I just like the card being huge, it's cool to me.

Cons: - Doesn't make me waffles in the morning -

Would be a very nice feature if ASUS integrated a full waffle maker into this card.

In all seriousness, I have not been able to find a con about the card. Will report back if anything seems wrong.

Other Thoughts: Bought the card for $400.00 about 2 and half weeks ago, now the card went down roughly $100.00, made me a little sad. But great for anyone looking for a powerful card that is cheaper.

To sum it up, this card is a monster for the price, will do just about anything your high maintenance gamer would like. Worth every cent.

Great work ASUS.

5 out of 5 eggsFREAKING AMAZING!!!!

Pros: Quiet
Cool
Overclock ability
Sexy
Overclock ability
Sexy
Sexy
Free borderlands

Cons: Fairly large card

Other Thoughts: This card is nuts at 1080p!!!! Im maxing all my games out with supersampling 8x! this card is overclocked to 1202MHz on stock voltage, and temps never go over 72C on stock fan profile, 28C ambient temp. at 1.2V, i can hit about 1260MHz. I honestly cant say enough about this card. especially with the new drivers coming out that will soon add DSR, it will be freaking X-Mass!

4 out of 5 eggsRuns quiet, runs cool no changes needed.

Pros: Ran BF4 on FULL Ultra settings, purrs like a kitten. Temps were favorable to what I typically run at, at about 55c to 60c with no tweaks or boosts out of box. I recently had a 660ti which ran well over 70's and had fan speed super high to kick it down to a favorable setting 70(max). Card is big, but I have a full tower, so didn't bother me. Also ran Tomb Raider and got about 70 frames with max settings (I know TR is more AMD sided). Its very nice to come into another tier of video cards given that the gtx660ti I had was just over 2 years old now, so somewhat current.

Cons: Bigger than my shoe size. Was fairly disappointed ASUS didn't stamp their ROG logo on the card with some nice LED's or something, would have made an excellent addition to the card. -1 egg for being a high end ASUS (OC)with no ROG LED, but I digress.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately, I purchased this card because the GTX 780STRIX was sold out, but all is well card runs smoothly and glad to say its fairly quiet under the load. I am also not much of an overclocker but the GPU tweak seems fairly easy to use.

5 out of 5 eggsOverKill GPU

Pros: I have this amazing card for more than 6 months now i had no issues with its performance, playing all games on the highest settings.
and recently i got the second one for a really outstanding performance on SLI
i got also EK full cover water blocks along with the EK back plates so i can get the max out of them... :)

Cons: The old card sag at the right side where the card is cantilevering towards the hard drive cages.
i do understand that this is due to the heavy weight of the heat sink however ASUS has work on this issue

5 out of 5 eggsHappy

Pros: Big upgrade for me, very happy. First time spending dough on a very high end card.

*Card is silent
*keeps cool

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Mucho grande. Just barely fits in a Roosevelt challenger case.

Getting plenty of FPS with everything maxed out in bf4. Pretty adequate for Star citizen high-max settings. But that game needs a lot more optimization to go before real release.

My CPU us i5 2500 if curious.

5 out of 5 eggsthis is a keeper bought 9/8/14 at 440

Pros: uber quiet
uber cool temperatures
uber insane performance per dollar vs original launch price at 650 ha
so this competes with the r9 290 at price per performance now and this is the clear winner if you are concerned with temps and noise and performance

Cons: nothing so far

Other Thoughts: there is 5 percent discount i did not get cause i bought it a week before but oh well i would buy it again at 440 is well worth the bling

5 out of 5 eggsWinning!

Pros: Dependable (so far)
Overclocks like a champ
Quietest thing in my case
Perfectly Compatable

Cons: Its a bit long

Other Thoughts: I got one of these to replace my 2 GTX 660s after being annoyed by compatibility issues with SLI for the last time. Those 2 overclocked got me around 8000 on Fire Strike, and this single card overclocked gets me 8800. Sold the 660s and im only down $150.
