The Asus R7240-2GD3-L Radeon R7 240 graphics card is based on the cutting-edge 28nm GCN architecture, and ships with 2GB GDDR3 video memory on a 128-bit interface. Games enabled with the optimized Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality. The sophisticated Asus design, including super alloy components and a dust-proof fan, ensures best-in-class durability and reliability for trouble-free gaming – even in the most demanding environments. • newegg DUST-PROOF FAN The unique fan design dissipates heat efficiently, while extending a graphic card’s lifespan by 25% (for reference) through increased dust- and particle resistance.
  • newegg GPU Tweak GPU Tweak utility helps you modify and tune clocks, power consumption targets, voltages, and fan performance via an intuitive interface. Detailed specs and actual card status are available with GPU-Z. The monitoring widget provides real-time and detailed multi-parameter info. The 2D/3D switch can lock the card in 3D mode for higher benchmarks. Automatically check and update drivers and BIOS versions. Sync GPU clocks and voltages for easier overclocking.
  • newegg Low-Profile Design With its low-profile design and high power efficiency, this graphics card is ideal for home theater PCs and multimedia centers.
  • newegg AMD POWERTUNE TECHNOLOGY Designed with the most advanced power management features, the AMD Radeon HD graphics card is equipped with the intelligence to convert unused power headroom into extra performance by dynamically controlling clock speeds, allowing gamers advanced performance inside of the power envelope they specify.
  • newegg AMD APP ACCELERATION Powered by a set of innovative hardware and software technologies working in concert behind the scenes, AMD App Acceleration gives you enhanced speed and performance beyond traditional graphics and video processing.

1 out of 5 eggsDVI-D is lame

Pros: Works fine for one monitor on newer motherboards.

Cons: Doesn't work on some motherboards because it's PCI-e 3 only.

I didn't notice that this was DVI-D only. For those who aren't aware, this cripples the ability to use two VGA monitors without an expensive adapter. ASUS seems to be the only on doing this and its a lame move that trades profit for functionality.

The stupid bundled game package also cripples my exchange ability, because it reduces my refund to half the cost of the card. I will be more skeptical and investigative in the future, and unlikely to go with ASUS for a GPU again.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Good card for the price. Low profile. Takes up very little space. 2Gigs. Nice fan that doesn't require an extra power cable. Plenty of adjustable settings in the Catalyst control panel.

Cons: Had to download display drivers for Vista from the AMD site.

Other Thoughts: Got this card to replace an old outdated Nvidia card. I installed it without any trouble. Went to install the software from the disk and the display drivers didn't DL. So my system didn't read the card. I have Windows Vista so I double checked to make sure it was supported by the card. Right on the box it says Windows Vista. Along with XP, 7, 8, etc.

So I figured maybe the disk had bad drivers. I went to the Asus site to DL new drivers. They had them for everything but Vista. Same with a couple other sites. No go. So I went to AMD and DLed the display drivers for Vista and viola! Card works fine.

So if you're buying this card and have Vista, don't even bother DLing the drivers from the disk. Go right to AMD and get them. Save yourself the headache of the dreaded Code 10 error. Just DL the other programs like GPU Tweak from the disk. It allows you to DL them without having to DL the drivers.

Other than that minor glitch the card works great and I would recommend it as an upgrade to outdated cards.

5 out of 5 eggsGood For the $$

Pros: - Cheap
- Low Power Consumption
- Low Profile
- Quiet
- 1080 Resolution

Cons: Not going to do well with high end gaming applications...

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card to provide an HD video feed from a media center PC. For that application, it fits the bill perfectly. If my primary goal was to game, I would look at spending no less than $100 on a decent GPU, although I wouldn't be surprised if this card will play games at reasonable FPS on medium-ish settings.

4 out of 5 eggsIncompatible with my motherboard

Pros: Good Card. Played all my games at high settings when it ran.

Cons: Not compatible with my motherboard. I have an Asus M3N/H HDMI , AMD Phenom X4 9850 2.50 ghz, 4GB DDR2 memory, with PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. This card is PCIE 3.0 x8 and my motherboard tried to run it at PCIE 2.0 x8. When it ran i got a message saying my pci express port root hub has stopped working. Then computer would shut down and it took me 3 resets to get it to post. After i did some research i found out that some older motherboards won't run PCIE 3.0 Cards but most will run them. I thought that since they were both asus that maybe they would work well together, but I was wrong. Now I'm running my old ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO PCI Express x16. works just fine but wanted a good upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for basic use!

Pros: -Small
-Powerful for what it is
-Fan isn't too noisy
-Plays Minecraft well on highest settings (1080p)

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: A lot of people argue that low end cards like this are a waste of money. While I see the point behind that, they're perfectly viable if you want to save RAM and have a performance boost by not using integrated graphics.

I'm pairing this with an Intel Pentium G3220 CPU, MSI H81M-P33 motherboard and 4 gigs of RAM. Very solid card. A big upgrade from the previous Radeon HD 6450 I was running.

5 out of 5 eggsMajor Upgrade From a Radeon HD 6450!

Pros: This card is a worthwhile upgrade from the HD 6450. High res. videos and many older games run at better framerates on a 1080p monitor.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Put this in my 2011 custom build that has an Intel Core i3-2120, 6 gigs of RAM, and this card.

4 out of 5 eggsok entry card

Pros: Price

Cons: None for what it is

Other Thoughts: I needed a stopgap video card until what I want is available, this card works for that. I would not try and play the latest games with it, but everyday use and watching movies and the like it is perfectly fine.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value!

Pros: Played BF4 on low with an Athlon x2 overclocked to 3.5Ghz.

Cons: For what your paying for, none come to mind.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a roommates computer so he could play Battlefield 4 with me (his nvidia 8600 couldnt keep up) and it can actually play Battlefield 4 with smooth framerates! (on lowest settings)

Mission Accomplished!
