2 out of 5 eggsGet a different card

Pros: It's a budget card

Cons: In my previous review I stated I couldn't get it to display in 1080p. Still can't. The drivers are super sketchy. Won't go beyond a working resolution of 720p. I'm not even going to bother with it and will just get a new card. Live and learn I guess.

2 out of 5 eggsDual Graphics

Pros: It is nice looking card and doesn't need additional power. It has some power behind it, and will be great once i get this DUAL GRAPHICS working

Cons: I haven't been able to make this bloody DUAL GRAPHICS to work for anything. I have done a fresh install and updated windows completely, then I installed all the drivers for my mobo (ASUS as well) A88XM-A. I changed the Setting in the MOBO for Dual monitors (IGFX Multi-Monitor) and have it all set to auto and tried force as well. STILL NOTHING. If i plug in mobo disables my PCI Card and then i plug in PCI and disables my GPU on the CPU. CPU (A10-7850k). I

Other Thoughts: MOBO - A88XM-A (bios 1801)
CPU - A10-7850k
RAM - F3-2400C10D-8GTX
and this CARD.

3 out of 5 eggsSize/Noise tradeoff not good for me

Pros: Smaller than other R7 250 graphics cards so takes up less room in case. Good monitoring software included. No need for 6 pin power connector - runs off power from motherboard. Good capability for watching HD material or streaming to TV. Don't play games so don't know about capability there.

Cons: Fan was too noisy for me and I returned it for that reason. It appears fan is smaller than for other R7 250 cards, so that may be the reason for the noise, but perhaps just a bad card. I bought another R7 250 card from another manufacturer that is larger and has a bigger fan and the noise is not a problem even though it runs at same speed according to Catalyst Control Center.

Other Thoughts: Always tradeoffs - if you want smaller you apparently have to endure more noise (unless it was just a bad card) from smaller fan. I was not willing to do so.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I do apologize that you experienced issues with a noisy fan on your graphics card. Due to the cards small size and smaller fan, it will need to spin at higher RPMs to provide sufficient cooling. If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141018580

Regards,

Lou

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: I haven't quite put it through its paces, but I was able to play Battlefield 3 on High Settings at 60 fps. Very impressed.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Great budget card. Would highly recommend.

4 out of 5 eggsBudget card

Pros: Plays 1080p video just fine and Minecraft gets around 60 fps. Doesn't need additional power beyond what's supplied by the PCI slot.

Cons: Not really a limitation of the card but rather the drivers/software. But cannot for the life of me get it to display 1080p on Windows 8. Worked perfectly on Windows 7. But once I upgraded to Windows 8 it would no longer display in 1080p. Fan gets a tad loud when going above 50%. Expected though since it's a budget card.

Other Thoughts: This is a budget card. You get what you pay for.

3 out of 5 eggsPCI-Express x16? No, try x8

Pros: Runs very well, doesn't get too hot, and I like how it's backwards compatible with older PCI-Express standards.

Cons: None, but see Other Thoughts

Other Thoughts: I came in here asking about whether this thing would run Dual Graphics with the on-chip integrated GPU before I bought this thing, and on the day that I got it and installed it, I found out that it didn't, so I set the card as the primary video adapter. I also had issues with the drivers and software that I had, because the R7-250 wasn't supported with whatever drivers I had ... because in older (DX9.0c) games like The Sims 2 Apartment Life, using new drivers causes all of the Sims' shadows to appear as black squares when they are indoors. Running other games work fine, just as long as you don't stick them on "Ultra" settings. Let the Catalyst manager determine "your" fate. Although sometimes when I want to call up the Catalyst Control Center, it goes AWOL -- the program silently crashes without giving me any warnings. And I'm not sure what's worse, the motherboard, or GPU-Z's reporting that my card is running at PCI-E x8 speeds?

I also tried to do some Folding@Home on it but the first ever project to be run on this GPU got blown to pieces when the FAHClient reported a "BAD WORK UNIT" with just 3 hours left on it. Besides that, every time I run it, everything lags on my desktop, and I can't play my games until I've stopped the client.

And I like how it doesn't have a PCIE Power connector. Which makes my 550W power supply just sad. :(

5 out of 5 eggsNice card for the price!

Pros: Powerful, mantle supported, pretty

Cons: Drivers are still a bit iffy, but that shouldn't be a problem soon.

Other Thoughts: Great card for the price, it does everything I want and is pretty low profile as well!
