5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Solid GPU for 1080p gaming on high settings. Very quiet (ASUS version). Easy to tweak if you're into that.

Cons: Some FPS dips on certain titles on Ultra. I can get over the difference from high to ultra so it doesn't bother me, but if you want to go to the extreme get a 280 or 290.

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: It runs cool
Give the expected performance and even more
Quiet
Overclock easily

Cons: Maybe a tdp that is a little high compared to nvidia

Other Thoughts: I bought this gpu on sale at about 200$ and it overclocked really easily and high at 1220(didn't push it further) and may be my personal taste but I think it looks nice

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Great card for the price, now that it has dropped down since the great Bitcoin schism of 2013. I got this card when it was a just a little bit more pricy, but it's definitely worth this price. With Battlefield 4, I can get around 40-50 fps on ultra, while with it only on high and with a slight bump into the resolution scale in game, I can easily get to 60. In Wolfenstein: TNO, I can easily max it out and have it be playable.

Cons: None to the card itself, but...

Other Thoughts: When I got this card, I constantly got DirectX errors, and when I delve deeper into this it turns out that ASUS bumped something over with the card's BIOS for the current models of the R Series. It's most likely fixed by now, but if you keep getting errors, make sure to check the ASUS website and download the latest BIOS and general drivers for this card. But problems with software are not enough for me to take away from this card's score.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid card, good buy.

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Powerful card
Plenty of output
Sturdy build quality, including fans.
The 'DirectCU' heat pipe is aesthetically pleasing, not sure how much actual benefit it adds

Cons: Wasn't as powerful as I expected it to be, but it's a budget-friendly card.
Fans are a litle loud under load, I was hoping for some quieter fans.
Display drivers on 8.1 seem a little buddy, occasional BSOD when exiting sleep mode.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card as an upgrade form a 6870, and was expecting more performance than I actually got out of it. Still a solid upgrade for a decent price. If I had to purchase over again, I would have gone for a 280x and more than 2GB of VRAM, but at the time this was the top of my GPU budget.

Overall, a great card for the price!

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: I put this card in an entirely new intel system and it has performed incredibly well.

I previously owned an ASUS Radeon 6850 card which also performed well, and the R9 270X was a big upgrade.

All the games I play and applications I use have never had any performance issues related to this card. On top of this, I tested out running FRAPS alongside running games and it still performed beautifully never dropping below 60 FPS and never had any screen tearing.

Examples of programs I run: League of Legends, Path of Exile, Warcraft III, Diablo III, One Finger Death Punch.

Also, this card has been running very cool (under load barley approaching 70 C). I don't have any external cooling or liquid cooling for the card, it is just cooled by the stock installation.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This card is large, probably best to check your dimensions before purchasing. I had to remove one HDD bay to fit this into a full tower case. However, I do not think this is a problem with the card, rather the full tower I have is on the smaller end.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Awesome

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Although I am able to max it out in games (Skyrim on top of a mountain during a blizzard) this card is able to run all fairly recent games at 1080p and the highest resolution that they offer while the frame-rate never drops below 30 fps in the worst of times. This thing has never had any issue with heat (always has stayed under 70° even while staying on almost 24hrs of continuous gaming) and when needed; the GPU Tweak software that comes included makes it easy for you to boost up the clock and squeeze a wee bit of more performance out of it. Examples of the games I commonly play are: Civ 5, Far Cry 3, Team Fortress 2, Starcraft II, Surgeon Simulator, Dota 2, Car Mechanic Simulator, and Darksiders I and II.

Cons: None! The only hiccup I have ever had with it was because of user error.

Other Thoughts: Great buy for those first building a gaming rig!

5 out of 5 eggsFast and cold

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Fast enough for my purposes.
One of the best air coolers for graphics cards.

Cons: None specific to the card.

Other Thoughts: Driver installing and updating isn't as good as nvidia. But that's not an issue with this card in particular.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS R9 270x

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Looks pretty slick, easy to install, GPU Tweak software is fairly nice. The fans are fairly quiet even under load.

Cons: Although not a con for me, this card is pretty big and may not fit in every case, just make sure to check your dimensions.

Other Thoughts: Great card, have not messed with overclock too much other than to see if GPU tweak worked and I got it up 5-6% without much change in temps at all. Running most things at high-ultra settings with 60+fps with my fx-8350 especially games that can take advantage of Mantle. Got this with a great deal and rebate and so far I am impressed and would reccommend!

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far, So Good.

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Looks cool. Play's games at high frame rates at an affordable price. I'm not a big gamer but I tried out Skyrim and automatically set my system using this card on Ultra settings.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I got it for under 200 bucks and so far it's working fine and performing every bit as good as I expected.

It seems to work fine with both Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.

No regrets so far on this purchasing this graphics card.

I doubt you'll see much difference between this card and anything else until you move up into the 300 dollar price range.
