ASUS Exclusive Innovation

DirectCU II with SSU architecture

DirectCU II with SSU Architecture
20% Cooler, 3X Quieter
ASUS graphics card engineering leads the industry once again with the introduction of DirectCU II SSU thermal design. Comprising two "S" and one "U" shapes, the new heatpipes are precision shaped for optimal efficiency and heat transfer. They are also nickel-plated to minimize oxidization, with their mid-section now placed directly over the GPU die. This design shortens heat transfer travel to lower thermal resistance and create bi-directional flow for up to twice the cooling capacity in the same space as that required by existing graphics card cooler designs. High-conductivity copper used in heatpipe formulation creates tube-like vapor chambers, moving heat to a large aluminum heatsink that features extended fins for multiple points of dissipation. The assembly is further chilled by two high performance but carefully-tuned and sound-dampened fans for faster and quieter cooling.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, Easy install minimal issues.

Pros: -Runs the games I want at the speeds I expected.
-GPU stays around 21F at idle, 50F under normal gameplay, high temp of ~65F under load.
-Never, knowingly, had any issues directly related to the card

Cons: -Raptr software is a waste of space.
-Only saw artifacts with the ice effigies in DotA2. Not sure if it was my end (GPU) or the game.

Other Thoughts: -Would recommend to others that want a GPU that is slightly better than what the PS4 and XBONE are producing.
-Made a great budget build.
-Still runs newer AAA games at acceptable FPS depending on settings.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card, sometimes crashes

Pros: Runs most of my games on high settings, looks cool, runs quiet

Cons: Every now and then probably a few times a week with frequent use, even under no load like at the desktop or browsing the web the card will crash. the whole screen will turn an odd color and have horizontal lines and the only way to fix is to reset the computer. I'm sure this won't be the case for all cards

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card but...

Pros: Runs everything I have thrown at it. Looks good too. Great price point.

Cons: LOUD. And I mean loud. It sounds like the fans are about ready to blow off. I'm not sure if it's broken, or if that's just the way it made, but I'm almost tempted to return it just to get another one and see.

Other Thoughts: For the price point, it's an awesome card. But we will see in another week or so if i can put up with the noise. even in my huge case with plenty of air space and cooling, I can hear it over my central a/c blowing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jonathan,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. On behalf of ASUS, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Let me assist you, have you tried changing the settings of the graphics card like using the GPU Tweak to try to fix the noise issue? 1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: Card freezes and crashes system.

Other Thoughts: This is my 2nd review, my first review stated that my card was not working efficiently and hoped that I would resolve this matter by talking with tech support. I gave it three stars in my first review. This is my review after talking with tech support. No help what so ever. Their main troubleshooting steps were as follows.
1. What is your power supply output?
2. Are the drivers updated?
3. Do you have another card to test out?

Then he told me to start an RMA and told me I only had these options...
1. Pay to ship it there, and they'll fix it and send it back around 7-10 days.
2. They'll mail me a form for credit card information, which will cost 10 dollars to process, and they'll send me a replacement GPU.

Why do I have to pay anything extra on top of what I already paid for a faulty card? Just seems a little off to me. Anything with a warranty i've had from a premium product, they've either 1. Sent a pre-paid box for shipping, or 2. Send a replacement inside of a pre-paid box, for me to ship the broken one back in. With having my credit card information without a processing fee.

I wont be buying ASUS again...

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsWish I could return it.

Pros: Games run smoothly on "ultra/max" settings.

Cons: Worked great for several months then I started getting the artifacting issues that many others have reported. Sadly it started having issues after it was too late to get a refund. It has issues running games and web video (youtube) at the same time. It has issues waking up from a sleep state often requiring a restart.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend even as a budget buy. Luckily there are better cards on the market now.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Cody,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. On behalf of ASUS, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
