5 out of 5 eggsASUS R9 270x

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Looks pretty slick, easy to install, GPU Tweak software is fairly nice. The fans are fairly quiet even under load.

Cons: Although not a con for me, this card is pretty big and may not fit in every case, just make sure to check your dimensions.

Other Thoughts: Great card, have not messed with overclock too much other than to see if GPU tweak worked and I got it up 5-6% without much change in temps at all. Running most things at high-ultra settings with 60+fps with my fx-8350 especially games that can take advantage of Mantle. Got this with a great deal and rebate and so far I am impressed and would reccommend!

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far, So Good.

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Looks cool. Play's games at high frame rates at an affordable price. I'm not a big gamer but I tried out Skyrim and automatically set my system using this card on Ultra settings.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I got it for under 200 bucks and so far it's working fine and performing every bit as good as I expected.

It seems to work fine with both Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.

No regrets so far on this purchasing this graphics card.

I doubt you'll see much difference between this card and anything else until you move up into the 300 dollar price range.

5 out of 5 eggsLove

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Quick and easy set up easy to over clock (can now play games at full potential

Cons: Download the drivers was probably the longest process of the entire thing (not too long at all)

Other Thoughts: This GPU was probably one of the est purchases I've ever made for my desktop (well ok the CPU was) It's better then any GPU I have seen in person (i can't imagine how the 295x runs maybe soon it will be in my budget!)

2 out of 5 eggsWorked perfectly, until....

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Works(Worked) great.
High FPS on all games thrown at it (Fallout: New Vegas, Borderlands 2, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Thief. Just to name a few) always over 40 FPS most the time between 60-100.
Ran every game i played at 1080p on ultra/very high settings.
Overall i was extremely pleased with this card. until...

Cons: After about 5-6 days of having this card in my brand new mobo, it was running just fine and dandy with up-to-date beta drivers from AMD. earlier today 22-6-2014 i started up Tropico 4 and the game crashed and my computer blue screened. since then i have been trying for hours upon hours to get my gpu to work because i really don't have the time and\or money to send it in and get a new card sent back. The card, with up-to-date drivers installed will boot into a black screen on windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. after i reset my computer and boot into safe mode i can roll back th drivers so it show up as a vga display device and reboot into windows with no problem. there i can uninstall the amd drivers and reinstall them. when the catalyst program asks me to reboot, i comply, and my computer boots into a black screen
rinse and repeat.
i am at a loss right now. im still hoping that it's just faulty drivers or that it can be fixed without being sent back to ASUS.
My current system setup is:
CPU: AMD 8350, 8 core, 4.0 GHz. underclocked to 3.4GHz
GPU: Obviously ASUS DirectCU II AMD R9 270x 2GB GDDR5
Mobo: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
PSU: Corsair 600M 600 Watt Power supply
RAM: PNY 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3-1333
My current display is a 32" Vizio Flat Screen LCD TV running at 1080p via HDMI

Other Thoughts: This is a well designed card. It ran well, and mine never hit temperatures of over 120 degrees F. (49 degrees C).
If the card hadn't have failed, I would have gave it a 5 egg review.

5 out of 5 eggsLike a champ!

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Great bang for the buck
Easy to install and setup
Drivers and software from AMD work great and make everything easy!
takes well to OC, not gotten over 60*C

Cons: Not as high quality as I was hoping for, but the game is PRE-Alpha

Other Thoughts: I bought this card for use for the next 2 or so year waiting on Star Citizen to come out. The hanger module is not AS high quality as I had hopped, but looks great still. The Arena Commander module is great! I get 40+FPS in all modes on max settings. I really do think I will buy the 4G version and run Crossfire on it.

5 out of 5 eggsAs expected

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Excellent card for the price. Runs 41C on idle, 69 full load. 90C ambient temp, tropical area. Runs BF4 on ULTRA @88-110 fps on 720p display. Super quiet fans, even at full speed. Could not be happier. If you are looking for a cheap card, this is the right one.
Overclocked at 1250 core, 6000 ram, works like charm.

Cons: Didn't make my breakfast

2 out of 5 eggsCurious Flaw/ Questionable Quality

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Silent operation, sleek design, and powerful.
From the moment I got the box I knew ASUS had put much love and care into this product, and it's presentation was nothing short of outstanding. The ASUS reputation in regards to quality had won me over previously, and their products remain a lynchpin in all my builds. I was nothing but please with my purchase. I went as far to pair the card with an ASUS mobo (ASUS Z97-A). Everything was shaping up to be solid.

Cons: Then came a misstep along the road of glory...
It has been 3 months since I installed all my components, and put my new PC into daily use. It was during the inaugural month I noticed an odd behavior.
A screen flicker that I had never experienced with any previous video card. It's a fast flash of white w/ a distortion of what was on the screen, and it is VERY distracting. It's frequency is erratic. Sometimes I'll see two flickers in quick succession, and other times only once in a movie or game session. I originally chalked it up to a one time glitch. Perhaps just an odd surge of power in the building or a jarring of a cable. Maybe I played too much for too long and the card got too hot. Maybe I accidentally enabled overclocking, nope.
Soon I realized I was just lying to myself. The issue was steadfast in it's appearances. I tried all the quick fixes. Update drivers, update games, new HDMI cables, checking graphics card settings, different surge protector, voltage setting in BIOS verified. There is no solving it.

I'm well outside what I'd consider the GPU burn-in phase of this card, and seeing this issue persist gives me doubts about the life span of the card. I'm not even considering enabling overclocking EVER. Now, going out of the RMA period with no action is my responsibility, but I never expected the issue to be this much of a headache. I don't know the depths of coverage provided by the manufactures warranty, but I really feel burned by this purchase in the end. Where's the Quality Control? I expected nothing short of greatness, and this card is proving to be a lemon.

Other Thoughts: I love ASUS. I went ALL IN with them, but I am unhappy with this purchase. This was my biggest video card purchase ever, and unfortunately the most disappointing.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

This review is from: ASUS DirectCU II R9270X-DC2T-2GD5 Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: This card plays all my games at the highest settings (Titanfall, LOTRO, Defiance, Batman) at 1080p. I get 50+ FPS on everything with the new 14.4 beta drivers. The beta drivers also took my Windows Experience score from a 7.3 to a 7.9 (the highest possible score). The card also runs very cool.

Cons: None so far. Pretty much what I expected.

Other Thoughts: For the miners out there... Originally I was also going to mine some DOGE coins with this card when I wasn't gaming. It got around 300/khs while still being able to do work on my computer.
