1 out of 5 eggsTook a chance with poor results

Pros: Works beautifully if you don't plan on doing any gaming longer than 5 minutes

Cons: Anywhere between a few minutes in and a half hour in, grey screen with vertical lines appears, and computer requires hard shut down. Sending this thing into ASUS for RMA for first time, hopefully they resolve this issue, but based on other reviewers, I remain skeptical.

Other Thoughts: The card really and truly does work beautifully, chugging ultra settings in Far Cry 3 without so much as breaking a sweat, but after a few minutes, that grey screen...

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Fast video card, huge performance upgrade if you have been using an old card.

See cons below.

Cons: Purchased two of these card and both of them had the exact same fan failure.

Other Thoughts: Plan on spending some extra money to ship these back to asus.

Been a faithful asus customer for over 2 decades.
Product quality is not up to the standards I used to expect from this company.

Will not buy again.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGood performance

Pros: Good design. Thick heat pipes add extra cooling. Nice overclock features. Performs well in single and even better in crossfire. ASUS is a top performance company. 3gb of gddr5 with a 384bit interface what more could you want.

Cons: Heat. They get hot fast. The are designed to run at 90c. I use a custom cooling setting to increase the fan rpm at a lower temperature than what is set at default. It helps to keep them cooler. The fans can be loud. These are overclocked too much from factory. Factory clock is 6400 MHz for memory. This can cause problems in some applications as others have stated. I reduced the clock to the 6000 MHz of reference design. and it works fine. GPU clock is set to 1100mhz with no problems and runs any benchmark with a breeze. Only real problem is in some games I get a lot of screen tearing and artifacts while in crossfire. If I disable crossfire everything works fine, so it is a problem with the game not the card or its software.

Other Thoughts: Over all I am very pleased with these cards. I upgraded to these from two MSI Twin Frozr 7870's. Big difference.

1 out of 5 eggsoh how i miss nvidia

Pros: when it works it is great

Cons: 2 RMA coming up right now. Getting bad tearing and ripping. I would give anything for a card that works! 1st card was bad artifacting. It takes Asus so long to reply to you or resolve these issues, i'm not sure if it's worth waiting and constant paying for shipping for something Asus sold defected. ASUS you're better than this, come on!

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsartifacts? ...right

Pros: 1080p, ultra, no sweat. what more can you ask for? :)

Cons: fans begin to make noticeable noise during heavy load. if I were to compare, I'd say they sound like a quarter of what you hear when you burn/install a CD.

Other Thoughts: After reading the overflowing amount of reviews about artifacts, I was a bit hesitant. I gave it a go anyway because I personally like asus. results? no artifacts.

3 out of 5 eggsYeah, these cards will artifact and annoy you

Pros: Fast

Cons: Graphical Artifacts.
AMD's red-headed step-child card. Driver updates are always for the 270 and 290.

Other Thoughts: After a few hours of gaming, you will start to see polygons getting messed up in FPS games (BF4). Sometimes you can live with it, other times they block your entire view - forcing you to restart.
A friend got this same card by my recommendation. Saw the same thing, returned it and got an nVidia 770. Says he has never seen the problem with that card.
After reading all of these failed RMA's, I'm pretty upset with ASUS. They know they have a problem and will not do the right thing. (Returning you a card with the problem fixed!) I'm afraid I'm going to go through the same RMA routine everybody else did and get the same problem returned back to me. My advice, just avoid it all together.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: It runs my games at 1080p resolution with all graphics settings turned on without a hiccup

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I've been thinking about buying a second one of these cards. I bought my first one in February of this year from another retailer (newegg didn't have it available) and it's been working perfectly fine. After reading all the reviews here I've been having second thoughts and may go with a different manufacturer for my second r9 280x. It seems I may have been one of the lucky ones with getting a fully functional card.

2 out of 5 eggsBad ARTIFACTING and BANDING

Pros: quiet fans. good while it lasted

Cons: Artifacts artifacts artifacts and awful horizontal screen flashes. Not to mention the screen tearing

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card back last November because it was getting glowing reviews across the board for performance and noise levels. Which were both true. It lasted me about 6 months and since then it's been nothing but problems with this thing, which makes me want to go the way of nVidia or at least nothing ASUS anymore.. extremely disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: None it did not work when I first got it.

Cons: So here is the story. I purchased this product back in June, but just got around to building it now. Unfortunately for me, as soon as I plugged it in and tried to get my system running, I realized my graphic card was not functional. I'm sad that I never got to truly review this product and will be looking to replace/refund it ASAP. Not sure how to feel rather than disappointed at this point. I'm thinking about getting the same card, but scared the same situation will occur.

Other Thoughts: Wish this product would have worked. I couldn't get my screen to even load up or boot from the get go. I'm very disappointed because I've heard good things about this graphic card. Oh well, guess I'll try another. I can't recommend this product to anyone because of the troubles it has caused me.
