1 out of 5 eggsGood card cheap parts

Pros: the card is great runs anything i play
i crossfire 2 of them i can play just about anything.
they run hot but with the fans running its no big deal 50-60c load

Cons: here is where things start to suck, the fans suck. day 1 one of my cards raddled when i turned the fans above 70% speed didnt think it was a big deal since everything seemed to work just keep the fans under 70%. that didnt last long the fans started to click even at 40% the bearing now my other once started to do it too. theses cards run HOT without the fans working the temps are crazy. ASUS fix your fans they suck

Other Thoughts: long story short fans suck without them cards overheat had to replace them got a evga gtx 980ti and loving life.
theses cards turned me away from AMD/ASUS cards- i have 2 300 dollar cards with fans that don't work

1 out of 5 eggsLots of problems

Pros: It's fast. Too hot though and overheats. If you buy this it will require a lot of research and tweaking. I don't recommend this card

Cons: Too hot. Requires a lot of work to run properly. I'm not rating it lower, because I was able to drop the temps. Read below.
ASUS Customer support is awful - spent 5-6 hours with no resolutions
Artifacts
Freezing
Potentially large batches of this card with bad VRAM
ASUS won't take responsibility or refund money

Other Thoughts: I have lost faith in ASUS... what happened to them???

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsWorks very well and was a steal at the price

Pros: As of 2016, it's still able to Max 99% of games I throw at it. It never over heats and I don't see any artifacts or have any issues whatsoever. It's unfortunate so many people are having issues, because the potential of this card is amazing, even for the price I paid in 2013. I usually start looking for a new card when I can no longer max out all the games I play, but I haven't run into that snag yet, so I'm still very happy.

Cons: none yet

2 out of 5 eggsASUS Radeon R9 280X

Pros: I liked that it did what I bought it to do, which is be a video card.

Cons: After a year I now have serious frame per second problems. I play Elder Scrolls Online and had no problems maintaining a 60fps and a year later I consistently drop to less than 10fps. In fact it is so bad I can no longer play ESO because it happens so often, I have counted 3 times in under a minute.

Other Thoughts: I read all the reviews back when I bought it in 2014 and not one of them said anything bad about it. In fact all the reviews raved about it. If you build your own computers then you know reviews are VERY important to your purchase. I can no longer afford to replace it and I'm stuck with it. Heck I actually thought it was ESO that was the problem and blamed them for well over 6 months, since the problem began at the same time new DLC content was available.

I would highly recommend against buying this card. Most especially if you are a gamer with a budget.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible card

Pros: Powerful and it keeps cool. Using it for 1080p gaming.

Cons: Artifacts- and I've tried everything.

- clean install of Windows 7
- different PSU
- different versions of Catalyst ranging from 13.12 to the newest 14.9 (always cleaned em up using DDU)
- underclocking the card by 10-25%
- CPU @ default speeds
- different PCI-E slot
- different power cables
- default BIOS settings
- memtest86, no errors
- disabling ULPS
- using only one screen

Nothing helps.

Other Thoughts: Last time I buy an Asus product, I want to RMA it but I don't want to invest anymore money into this terrible terrible product.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your time on posting this review, we are sorry to hear your experience with the ASUS graphics card. Please allow me to assist you.

Please try the steps below to try to fix the units issue.

• Check the compatibility of the GPU to the mobo
• Check the video cable compatibility or use different cable or use other PCIe slot for the GPU
• Uninstall the GPU driver and install the latest ones. Be sure to select the "Clean Install" option.
• Get the latest driver version, or even latest Beta version available from Asus site or from the chipset site
• Update the BIOS of the GPU if possible. (Some GPUs do not need BIOS update)
• Test the card to other computer for comparison; (following again step 1)

2 out of 5 eggsSadness :(

Pros: - Nice looking
- Good card when it works properly

Cons: I bought this card when it first came out in 2013, and after a few months of use I would get a lot of artifacts while playing BF4 or any other game. I specifically bought this card because of their Mantle API that was supposed to provide a better experience while playing BF4, but I should not have bought into the hype. I also bought into the hype that Asus is a really good manufacturer, but 2 out of 3 Asus products have failed on me unfortunately. I will be looking at other manufacturers for my future builds.

Other Thoughts: Maybe Asus really is an awesome manufacturer, and I just have bad luck with their stuff.

2 out of 5 eggsASUS Radeon R9 280X DirectX 11.2 R9280X-DC2T

Pros: It's a great card when it works properly. Can handle most games at highest settings,.. and that's just with a single video card.

Cons: Artifacts !! ,.. So many artifacts,.. I've tried everything,. Downgrading to earlier bios,. under-clocking the GPU,.. nothing works. even with latest drivers, I still get artifacts in many games and even on the desktop. This is one of the most disappointing buys I've ever made. I'll never buy an ASUS video card again. I can't believe just how bad this was made,.. Between the fans squeaking, and the artifacting,. this is one of the worst buys I've made for my PC.

Other Thoughts: Buy a sapphire made product. It cost more but you get what you pay for.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Juan,

Thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We will take your review in consideration, and certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your video card is artifacting. Does it artifact during cerrtain tasks? Whar are your temperatures on the card under load? It can be an overheating issue. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you believe your card is defective, you can submit an RMA at http://www.asus.com/us/support. ASUS offers 3 year warranty on our video cards. 2 out of 5 eggsDied a year after purchase

Pros: Held up really well for everything I threw at it, keeping most gaming scenarios at high/ultra high settings (Leage, SWTOR, Skyrim with the HD mod, etc). Ran relatively cool.

Cons: No backplate on the card which ALWAYS made installing/reseating stressful as it felt like you were destroying it. After ~ a year and a few months, started having issues with the display just turning off. Threw my old HD 5750 in and it worked great. Now, can't even get this card to boot up.

Other Thoughts: The card worked well while it did. At this point, if you're looking at any variation of the 200 series though, jump up to the 380/390/390x. It'll be worth it as long as your PSU holds up. Avoid ASUS' support section. Lord forbid you ACTUALLY need to RMA something.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, runs triple monitor max settings on all games

Pros: Very fast, very quiet

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Great card, whisper quiet. I've had it over a year and never had a problem. Played the new wolfenstein game at 5720x1080 at max settings and framerates are well above 30 fps. I've never had a problem with artifacts, not sure what these other reviews are talking about, they probably overclocked their video card too far and damaged it.

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't Last

Pros: Ran BF4, Witcher 3, ARMA 3 well. Fan sound was good when it was first installed.

Cons: Well, after a year 1 fan became VERY noisy. Thought it was my new CPU water cooler but finally found the bad GPU fan. Fan was loose on motor so it was unstable and hit the shroud. Ran it for 8 more months. Had constant Video SW failures that I usually didn't know happened, just a screen freeze. On 6 Nov 15 video completely failed in BF4, big black screen and frozen PC. Today still had crashes. Buying new GPU now.

Other Thoughts: Failed to take advantage of Warranty until too late. Oh well, upgrading.

Manufacturer Response:
