3 out of 5 eggsPowerful and Quite, but artifacts

Pros: This card packs a lot of power and is very quiet. Most games I'm able to run at almost max settings running on 2560x1440. It does start to struggle once you add in vsync, but for the most part I don't have to worry too much about stuttering issues. I was also able to fit this card in my mid-size Antec 902 tower by removing a hard drive bay.

Cons: After a couple hours of gaming, the card sometimes starts artifacting and the objects on the screen begin flickering. I've done a lot of research on the internet and it seems many of these cards have vram issues and everyone suggests an RMA. Unfortunately I'd already passed my RMA period so I'm stuck with a faulty card.

Other Thoughts: Powerful card, but you have to make sure you get a good one or your screen may start artifacting and flicker after a few hours of gaming.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Aaron,

Sorry that you are having artifacting issues with your video card. Does this only happen after hours of gaming? One possible cause of this is that your card can be overheating, please check if there are any dust blocking your fan from getting proper flow. How long have you had your card for? ASUS offers 3 year warranty on our cards. If you are convinced that this card is faulty you can submit an RMA and have it replaced at http://www.asus.com/us/support. Feel free to contact me at cl-justin@asus.com and I will help you to the best of my abilities. Your case # for reference is N150754533

2 out of 5 eggsBring your own cooler and its a great card

Pros: The card runs Fantastic pushing through ever game I ran

Cons: The cooler that comes on the card supply's poor cooling to the Ram causing it to overheat after about 10-20 min's I slapped a aftermarket cooler on it and now its awesome totally worth the $260 I spent on it well 300 after the cost of fixing its stock problem

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Shane,

I would like to thank you for your time on posting a review about our product. I am sorry with you are having issues with the cooler that came with the card. 1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Cusstomer Service

Pros: Great while it lasted

Cons: Gets hot to the touch, burning smell and rattling fan; Worthless customer service!

Other Thoughts: Just a heads up. ASUS may make great products, but heaven forbid you have any issues with them, as their customer service is bottom of the barrel and just leads down the lane of RMA he**! Never a response email or call-back, long waits on the phone, only to be greeted by incompetent reps or ones who are powerless to do anything, or unable to forward me to a supervisor. This is all over a R9-280X, in which they are unable to get a replacement card for 1-1/2 weeks! Sheesh.

From this point forward, I am unable to recommend ASUS products to anybody. Stick to EVGA/MSI for video cards.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear John,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. We are sorry to hear that your experience with the support line and with the unit, let me assist you. Have you tried re-seating the graphics card may be it is not properly seated to the board that is why it's overheating and also may I know the power supply that you are using? For further assistance, please email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and place the case#N150721476 in the subject line for reference.

Thank you for choosing ASUS!

1 out of 5 eggsSeries quality control issues

Pros: Looks awesome. Card hasn't failed completely after 1 year of daily usage with a triple monitor 1920x1080 setup.

Cons: Are you a time-traveling crytpo-miner who needs every r9 card they can get their hands on to mine from 2009-2014? Oh you are? Then still don't buy this card and buy r9 290's instead. Overpriced, outclassed, and non-stop quality control problems.

The ASUS 280x's have serious quality control issues. There's a reason 1/3rd of these reviews are 1-Egg reviews. Across the board memory corruption and artifacting. The occurrence of failed VRAM on these chips is so high, that I bought one in January 2014, returned it due to memory failure, then bought another in May 2014 only to have the same problem. They started pumping out as many r9 series cards as they could due to the miner craze of late 2013/ early 2014. Quantity overtook quality in every aspect. Google "r9 280x artifacting" most of the results will be about this specific card.

Other Thoughts: Bought 2 of these. One January 2014 and returned to NewEgg, then one May 2014. Both have bad VRAM. I'm going back to buying Sapphire cards. ASUS should stick to their amazing mobo's.

1 out of 5 eggs250 bucks down the drain

Pros: nice when working

Cons: have bought this card and returned it within 2 weeks, now its 6 months later and the replacement died. screen went all gray with black vertical lines then nothing after reboot. fans spinning lights on. motherboard has indicator light saying gfx card... no hdmi signal.

Other Thoughts: ive been a big fan of asus. my whole computer is basically asus. their support is basically nonexistent. I don't even know what do do now. newegg says its not their problem. lose a gfx card for weeks or maybe months if not just toast. I don't know if I will buy any more asus products.

3 out of 5 eggsGood when it works

Pros: Beautiful frame rates and color when it works

Cons: Having artifcating issues on almost all games (LoL, Elite Dangerous, Farcry 4, Binding of Isaac Rebirth). Sometimes alt tabbing works to resolve the issue, but usually I need to restart to make the artificating to go away. although it usually returns after a little while.

Sometimes my screen will go black and I have to restart the computer. I've also had BSOD and the minidump file indicates the graphics card.

I have the latest ATI drivers, the latest firmware, but still having issues.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for choosing ASUS products.

We are sorry to hear that you were having an issue with the unit. Regarding your concern, can you please tell us more information about the issue (artifcating issue) for us to assist you on resolving the problem.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrated and disappointed

Pros: Performance was great while it lasted.

Cons: Card completely stopped displaying image after about a year and 3 months. RMA process took about 2 weeks to get my card back (not unreasonable) . My card wasn't repaired; I got a replacement with a different serial number. The replacement card had issues on day one. Saints Row 4 started displaying artifacts and distorted textures after about 15 minutes of gameplay.

Other Thoughts: the first time the RMA process was acceptable, other than the disappointment of having a defective GPU. I had a knowledgeable rep from the service center. The second experience was different. I asked the rep at Asus service center support line if they had more RMA's for Nvidia or AMD chips and she couldn't comprehend the question. Also, I expressed my disappointment with the reliability the ASUS 280x and she (Jamecia) was curt and wasn't apologetic at all for the issues I was experiencing with my ASUS's product. I think I will defiantly go with another vender and most likely an Nvidia card next time around.

3 out of 5 eggsR9280X-DC2T-3GD5

Pros: -Solid card
-Silent in my case
-Easy overclock for the ones that wants that(I don't, it runs my game perfectly)

Cons: -Getting major artifacts (since I have the cards)

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 cards for CF and the artifacts is not only in single card but in CF also. I split the 2 cards in two different PC, still getting it. I hope they do come with a fix for it.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far I like it...

Pros: This card is really great for 1 screen 1080p gaming on high or ultra settings. I played Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within, Battlefield Hardline, Battlefield 4 on MAX video settings and never had even a lag. It is also quiet and cool.

Cons: Sometimes I get artifacts when browsing in Firefox, maybe 1-2 times a week. I never had any artifacts in games.

Other Thoughts: Got it really cheap on sale and I am very pleased
