5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: This card is a MAJOR game changer when upgrading from some older cards, such as my 2 previous 6770s. This card installed easily, although it was a tight fit in my Rosewill challenger case. Noticeably better response times, better fps, better at everything. I don't know what people are talking about when they say this card is loud, at 55% it is still quieter than my 2 6770s. 100% is a different story but obviously any fan is going to be loud at that speed. The color combo matches my build also, which is nice. thankful my 600w psu has no problems powering this. No complaints of price either, spent $350 for a used one.

-Fits in Rosewill challenger
-600w psu will work
-not that loud

Cons: None as of now

Other Thoughts: TRIPLE CHECK that it fits in your case, this thing is a monster when it comes to length.

1 out of 5 eggsOOBF, RMA taking weeks!

Pros: Supposed to be one of the fastest cards out and I'm curious to see Mantle on BF4

Cons: The card was DOA/OOBF... Wouldn't boot on any machine in Uber or Quiet mode. I had to pay to ship it back to Asus for warranty for some reason and now their saying a couple of weeks to repair?? SEND ME A NEW CARD!

Other Thoughts: I chose Asus because they usually are the best where quality is concerned but this purchase has me second guessing that notion. RMA USPC3C2500

5 out of 5 eggs4GB of

Pros: nice looking - hopefully it reacts as it should according to the specs

Cons: that's large

Other Thoughts: 4 GB of memory in a grafix card that's why I choose it., Not to mention all the other high performance it has.
After over a year of working with the 6950 which has 2 GB of memory I really do not see the big difference in this 4 Gb card...I mean I thought I would see a little difference in video games set to full or not. Hear's the thing,630 dollars for a 4 GB card and I'm thinking if I would of been better off with any 3 Gb card especially since the arrival of the 4 GB the 3 GB went down significantly in price. I want to see or feel that 4 GB of memory at work, you just cant tell ....................................

5 out of 5 eggsAsus R9 290X in Crossfire

Pros: They installed easily and with no issues. Ran a 5% to mem and a 7% to GPU OC and worked very well in all Benchmarks with factory Cooler. The cards run hot, they seemed to hover around 90c to 94c. And yes the throttle back until they cool a bit at peak loads. I play rift and went from playing in low settings to all out ultimate+. All I can say is, it’s like playing a whole new game. Both the graphics and sound (I use HDMI) is awesome. And don’t get me started on BF4 on maxed settings. Now I am going to have to learn to play with zero lag lol… I am very happy with these cards.

Cons: They run hot and while they were designed to, they were throwing too much heat in my projector room turning it into a furnace. Plus with the fan set at 80 max at times it sounded like a airboat.

Other Thoughts: Last night I installed koolance water blocks on both and had a dramatic improvement on temps. With same overclock they now run between 40c to 44c ( From 90c to 94c prior) with 6 back to back haven benchmarks in 1080p ultimate/extreme with anti maxed. I am also happy to report as expected with the water blocks I get zero throttling down and best of all no sound they are now quiet. I really liked these cards before but with the water blocks, I out right love them now. Can’t wait to get home from work and play with the Oc’s on them. Very happy with these cards.

5 out of 5 eggs  Great

Pros: This card is great, I have this video cards on ultra high settings for World of Warcraft with no issues. 160 frames per second with two cards.

Cons: For you people were crying about the high windings sound it's because the fan on the card trying to keep the card cool.

So next time you guys say you have five eggs for your technical level obviously you don't. The only reason why I'm saying this is, because I'm read the comments were some of you are saying the sound is because of the DVI port or the card was not made correctly. Either way for next time you select 5 eggs for technical level don't.

Other Thoughts: A technician is somebody who can figure out a problem not complain about.

5 out of 5 eggsBlazing Fast rock solid

Pros: I'm a little smitten with this card. I just finished the campaign on CoD: Ghosts at 1440p at 100hz (oc'ed catleap) and this single card was able to push 100 fps for most of the game at ultra. It fell to half that in particle heavy outdoor levels with sand or snow. No crashes even though I'm running beta drivers. I only expect this performance to get better as they tune it.

I'm able to achieve a 20% overclock on water with an ek block. 1.2ghz core clock is no joke.

Cons: I've noticed that it does emit a high pitched whine for a minute or so while under load. As I said before I have a water block, so it's not even the fan. It goes away after a few minutes.

As other reviewers have noted the memory doesn't overclock at all. At least on my card.

Other Thoughts: Too bad about the memory, but the core chip overclocks well so I'm pleased with my purchase.

I'll probably pick up a second one when they become more widely available and go crossfire. Because who doesn't love massive overkill?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Graphics Card

Pros: Surprisingly quieter than my previous card, AMD 6990.

Cons: Price a little high

Other Thoughts: I was concerned about the fan speed that others had mentioned, but compared to my previous card the R9 290X is actually quieter and delivers VERY high performance.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This card will play everything and anything on the highest settings at 1080p. Even though the drivers are still in there infancy, BF4 plays at 80fps+

Cons: The card I have has a super bad coil whine. It just screams when I start up a game. I'v read on forums that most of these cards have a little bit of a coil whine, but myn you can hear across the house. Iv read that it could go away so hopefully i dont have to hear this all the time. The top dvi port has been acting up and will flicker. Switched to the bottom one and everything is fine.. Not sure if this is do to the coil whine too.. Runs super hot.......

Other Thoughts: Since this card is a reference card, the cooler is cheap and isnt made for overclocking. If you dont mind voiding your warranty you can get an aftermarket cooler that will bring the temps down 30c. Also to keep the card from downclocking set the switch to uber mode. Or click it to the right towards the fan. Then in CCC set your fan profile to 60% and your temps wont go over 80c as long as your box has proper venting. Im giving the card itself 4 eggs. But the coil whine and the heat issues do need to be addressed.. Other then all that I am pleased with the performance.

5 out of 5 eggsHynix memory

Pros: Just to follow up on my previous review, cards that use Hynix memory have more potential for OC, probably not all Asus 290X cards have Hynix, but I can verify at least some do. I have Hynix H5GQ2H24AFR.

This really only matters to those who plan to OC their 290X cards heavily, especially those on waterblocks

Cons: I have non at all, I'm lovin this beast

5 out of 5 eggs"unexpected"

Pros: extremely quiet fan when turned up thru CCC

Cons: on the whole,
if you can think of one by all means throw down your con cause I don't have one

Other Thoughts: Card holds around 42*c. for idle which I thought was a bit high for [doing nothing] turned it up to 80% and had to really listen for it.
290x replaced a sapphire 6950,--when you turn up the fan in that you can hear it starting from 60% and it gets louder and louder till max.
I did notice a sound quality difference in music, riffmaster & games.
Catalyst software added a GPU/power% box which can be changed in many ways...Only use drivers from web for this card and I'm pleased thus far...very expensive.
