3 out of 5 eggsOld BIOS

Pros: Massive graphics power

Cons: BIOS is old
bios tools does not allow you to select the card ( crossfire)- see other thoughts
Beware AMD CPU owners! No PCIE3 @ x16/x16 - see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I was so excited when I received these cards! Much to my disappointment, I can only get PCIE3 on one slot. AMD cpu do not do dual PCIE3. As for the vbios on the cards, the utility does not allow you to select the card. Since I have seen other GPU mfg have this function, knocking off 2 eggs since the process to pull these massive HEAVY cards in and out of my system flexed my Sabertooth Gen3 mb ( under warranty). As for the PCIE3, if your on an AMD CPU, you will only get PCIE3 x16/PCIE2 x16 from these cards at best in crossfire.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Experience Ever - Continued

Pros: Don't know any more - the thing has been broken so long, I forget any advantages

Cons: Original card would run 20 minutes and fail - After several weeks of ASUS support trying to fix my system, I bought a new power supply from Newegg, reloaded my OS, new drivers, old drivers, etc. and finally the Tech said the card was broken. Sent it back to Newegg and they refused any action because I had cut off the proof of purchase for the rebate. This took several weeks. They sent me to ASUS for RMA - sent it back (at my expense) with a very detailed description of what was done, name of the techs involved, etc. and they sent the card back to me. Did the same thing and I called and they told me there was no trouble found and sent the same card back (never told me). They are now sending me another card (at my expense of course) and putting a hold on my credit card. If the new one works, perhaps all will finally be well after 2 months. If not, I have a $350 brick.

Other Thoughts: Returning a card with no dialogue is deceptive and no one will stand behind this product. I have build 5 high end gaming computers all with Newegg components and ASUS mother boards, video cards, etc. NEVER AGAIN. This is very dissapointing.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Experience Ever

Pros: When it runs, blazing frame rate and awesome gaming.

Cons: I have only been able to get this to run for 20 minutes straight. It freezes the system, restarts the drivers or just plain blanks out. NewEgg would not replace it because I cut the UPC off the box for the rebate. Spent weeks with ASUS trying different drivers, bios and even re-installed my OS. Finally RMA, they sent the same card back with No Trouble Found and guess what, same exact issues. My next call is to the credit card company who hopefully will get my money back for a $300 brick!

Other Thoughts: It really disappoints me when no one will take responsibility. I know electronic components are subject to heat and infant failure but this is not my risk to take on.

3 out of 5 eggsAsus R9290x-DC20C-4GD5 Radeon

Pros: Cards worked well for 9 months, bought on 4/25/2014 6:34:36 PM

Cons: Only 1 of the 2 cards I purchased work now, the other if powered will not even let my system power up.

Other Thoughts: I am now thinking of going Nvidia, after all these years with Radeon, and also request that Asus swap my cards for Nvidia equivilant or replace the other, preferably swapping both for Nvidia, as the value of my cards have dropped 300 dollars in 9 months.

2 out of 5 eggsPopcorn anyone?

Pros: Installed easy was big but smaller then other 290x cards. Was the reason why I got this card because of the length. 3dmark11 this thing flies awesome scores p13000+ with a FX8350. Easy to download drivers from asus support one reboot and it was ready to go.

Cons: Load up DA Inquisition and a minute into it what's that sound? Is someone cooking hot pockets? Smells like someone is burning styrofoam popcorn. Alright new card I read the reviews and knew this card can get hot but didn't think it would be a problem on a new card. Checked the temps and it was at 92c. Felt my exhaust and it was a heater blowing hot air. I live in a hot region so this isn't the right fit for me.

Other Thoughts: I took it back and replaced it with green. Runs way too hot for me and I have a decent mid tower NZXT H440 with decent air flow. Picked it up at a great price. I really wanted this to work out. This is a beast of a card just wasn't for me.

3 out of 5 eggsinstalled in april 2014

Pros: Great card when not having driver issues, ran Asus drivers for first 2 months started getting artifact switch to Catalyst beta drivers cleared up issue, then around September had driver issues again went to new Asus drivers cleared up and now come 1/19/2015 having issues again with artifacts tried the 14.12 Catalyst drivers they don't seem to help either possible card failure , i put my 7850 back in and it still running like champ. i bought my card when they are coming down from $800 and not even getting years use out of it .

Cons: Fans are bit loud and driver issues none stop

Other Thoughts: After reading up bit more looks like the main cause of the issue could probably be the asus OC on the Vram is to high might try lower the Asus OC.

Leaning toward a gtx 980 as replacement now.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Works good with AMD drivers. WQHL 14.12 Is what I am using now. Windows driver has black screen issue. Always use AMD drivers from AMD web sight, install under custom with all boxes checked. No problems.

Card preforms well. Was playing Arkham City with it. Seemed to work fine with this game. Also playing allot of GTA 4. No lock ups.

Love the look on my Sabertooth 990fx with it. Blends well with it.

Cons: Was hard to get Catalyst Control Center to work at first. Reinstalled under custom install on AMD web sight to repair CCC. Also fixed black screen issue.

Other Thoughts: Card looks awesome. Silent even running GTA 4 witch my HD 7970 was not (reference). Seems to have low heat output for me. Default settings.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: Fast when it is working.

Cons: Sent out for RMA , was given wrong number and address. Got card back after about a month and a half. Card works a little better when alt tabbing out of games but is randomly locking up during games, when watching videos locks up have to hard reset computer, losing display drivers intermittently and resetting. WOULD NOT BUY THIS JUNK AGAIN! Everything works fine when using my 2 XFX 6950s in crossfire. Swapped everything three times. Its the ASUS card that is the problem, not my computer.

Other Thoughts: Lou was helpful but the card is junk and not his fault. I would be embarrassed to work for a company that is making such a bad product.
