4 out of 5 eggsGreat product.

Pros: Handles all graphics well, especially in crossfire.

Cons: Occasionally locks up if room isn't cooled and generates a ton of heat, make sure room is cooled.

Other Thoughts: I would say you have to be a higher end used if using in crossfire. Have mine set up in a corsair case with water cooled processor and conditioned air to room. Can run all games with full settings, but will be a little noisy and generate heat. Easy to install, but had to do a fresh install to windows 10 instead of upgrade. My three year rig, easy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance with latest driver

Pros: Performs incredibly well despite everything I throw at it. Runs relatively cool and gives consistent results. Newest driver resolved some ver.14 woes.
Got it at a great price plus rebate

Cons: Every once in a while I'll notice a brief nano second of artifacts in GTA V. I've been toying with the settings to find what causes it but it seems to occur only once in a while and only once during that session 1 or 2 hours into game-play (but not since the new driver update).
It does get noisy when I really push it, but I can't fault it for the occasional occurrence.

Other Thoughts: Got it in November for my new rig. I love what I'm able to do with it.

Rig:
ASRock Z97 Extreme6
Intel Core i5-4690K
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2

1 out of 5 eggsAsus R9 290

Pros: High Quality Appearance

Cons: Hardware Failure

Other Thoughts: I am in the process of my second RMA with Asus. This product has failed twice. I have two of these cards running in crossfire configuration and this is the second time this precise card has failed in a span of three months. I called them to RMA it and they said they would send out a different card. I will have to pay a $440 hold fee until the bad card is returned. (How they come up with this figure is beyond me it retails for $330.) But, they have none in stock so I have to continually call back to check their inventory to see if they can send me a refurbished one. How is this good customer service? One thing I have determined from this is I will not buy Asus products going forward because I think they are lacking in the quality control department where they used to excel. Time to start looking at other manufacturers. Hopefully once I'm done with this second RMA process whenever that may be I will be able to get a more reliable card. My hopes are not high though, three month brick after the first RMA doesn't look to promising. I really wish they had better customer support. Telling a customer to call back to keep checking stock every 48 hours is not good service. You should ship a new card if you don't have stock and be done with it. The end user has to suffer for lack of service. People that buy these cards are enthusiasts and your most loyal customers, a bit of return loyalty would be nice. Just a though Asus.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card.

Pros: Runs fantastic with maxed out settings on all games I play. Outside of the known AMD video processing problem... this problem will only occur if there is low demand on the card(surfing the web, ect.). It is a true gaming card, but video demand is not there it will give you problems. Solution 1: Dumb down the card via amd's catalyst soft ware. Turn down both Mhz and clock speed. You will never see a change in any games but the problem will be solved. Solution 2: Run a game in the back ground when your not demanding video performance. Surfing the web... ect....

Cons: This card has a known problem, but easy to get around. If you experience video quality problems(lines in the screen, locking up... ect). You will have to dumb down the card via AMD;s catalyst program(the program that runs the card). Dumb down the MHZ and the Clock speed. Not by much, raise it til you have problems again.

Other Thoughts: Knowing this card has a fault from factory design. I would buy this card again because it is an amazing card. Do some research, there is a way around the problem so you will never experience any issue, and you will never see any change in performance.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus r9290-dc20c

Pros: Great card. Runs smooth and beautiful. Gaming and encoding much faster

Cons: Does not do the 4096 x 2160 advertised. It stll does 3200x1800 though. Also no documentation to speak of. This is why 4 eggs instead of 5

Other Thoughts: Thinking about buying a second card and see how it runs

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing card

Pros: I got mine cheap and absolutely love it, I can play any game I want on at least Medium settings at 1080p 60 fps with this card and my AMD 6300 cpu.

Cons: overclocking it is a little fickle but if you dont care about that then none.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card - but avoid software

Pros: - Can run everything on max settings without so much as a hiccup
- Runs consistently cool (I've never gone over 67C
- Runs consistently smoothly with FPS no lower than 30 at any point, and usually at 60+
- Cost effective
(I've run this card doing CoD, Witcher 2, Crysis 2/3, MKX, Alien: Isolation, all at max settings without a flaw)

Cons: - Software issues can tank the entire experience (See my Other Thoughts)
- BSOD (See my Other Thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Here's my rig:
AMD FX 8350
ASUS M5A 99FX PRO 2.0 Motherboard
Ripjaws 16GB 1866
Samsung SSD 850 EVO x2 for 750GB
ASUS R9 290 GPU
EVGA 800W Gold Certified Modular PSU

The first time I got this card, I had everything set up, installed all software for MB, GPU, etc and latest drivers, and would consistently get black screens and force shutdowns/reboots. I had to go back to 13.x drivers to be able to successfully run, and later found that I could install the most up to date omega beta's, however could NOT install CCC or any other similar software (i.e. afterburner, Radeon PRO, etc) without getting black screens. I spoke with ASUS tech support, who stated they have never heard of this issue, despite many reviews stating BSODs. I RMA'd the card with Newegg, and took a different approach. I installed the newest catalyst package with drivers from AMD, and then ran 3DMark and gamed for several hours with no issues at all and flawless performance. I then installed my MB software from ASUS to do monitoring, OC, etc, and the BSOD's returned. I uninstalled the MB software, and all is well. So bottom line is that all of these BSOD complaints may actually be software related. Now, I understand this issue shouldn't be happening regardless, but the performance of this card is so incredibly good, and the software benefit from this stuff is so marginal, I think its a no brainer. If you're having BSODs, try uninstalling any extraneous software you have and starting from scratch with your GPU, might work! But this is a phenomenal card.

2 out of 5 eggsRandom black outs.

Pros: Noticeable improvement over my GTX 550ti. Crisper graphic quality. About a 8-10 FPS gain on Arma 3 Dayz mod.

Cons: I had flickering black out while playing any game every 2 to 5 minutes. I updated the drivers and did some web search to change some factory settings to a lower setting and higher fan percentage usage. This helped out a lot. While logging into Dayz Standalone after the above changes, I get a black screen randomly. I have to go to the task menu to close out the game. Sometimes when I look at the ground the screen blacks out as well. When I look up at the horizon it returns to normal view. Driver cd did not work.

Other Thoughts: The driver cd did not work at all. Good for me that I was able to DL drivers from Radeon. It seemed to help with the black outs but that problem is still there randomly.
