5 out of 5 eggsGreat improvement

Pros: Great performance increase from my HD 6670. Received open box item and worked flawlessly since install. Asus customer support is friendly and they make good products.

Cons: None that I can tell as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Customer should be aware that this card will not work off of just the mobo power alone. It requires a 6 pin PCI power adapter. I've been told that only the top of the line 750ti cards even have this so I guess it's a plus! I bought a connector from molex to the 6 pin from local shop for 5 bucks that worked just fine as I didn't have the correct plug on my power supply. I did have some slight horizontal lines appearing, but since I've purchased a new power supply they have gone. Would buy this product again

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: It runs cool
and never get above 69C even after overclocking

Cons: The only part that I dislike is the 6pin connector was on the inside and not the outisde so it kinda annoying when you route the cable and the cable is extremely visible but wont deduct point for that and overall it fantastic so far.
It doesnt supported SLI which is a sad part for me.

5 out of 5 eggssuper deal thanks newegg

Pros: - good brand name with qaulity parts
- coverings on ports/board connectors during shipping
- low power consumption
- low noise
- default of 1215 Mhz clock under load (shown in nvidia-settings)
- cards are not hot with hours of heavy load even with 2 cards in my case.
- had a great newegg promo code and rebate deal
- arrived in 2-3 days which is fast for free shipping

Cons: possible issue: this card requires a 6 pin power connection from Power supply

Issue: ubuntu Linux default nvidia driver boot failed or hung

found solution steps posted online and was simple to resolve

repasted here for help to all

1 . get past the boot hang up

Booting into recovery mode

Switch on your computer.
Wait until the BIOS has finished loading, or has almost finished. (During this time you will probably see a logo of your computer manufacturer.)
Quickly press and hold the Shift key, which will bring up the GNU GRUB menu. (If you see the Ubuntu logo, you've missed the point where you can enter the GRUB menu.)

Select the line which starts with "Advanced options".

Select the line ending with "(recovery mode)", probably the second line, something like:

Ubuntu GNU/Linux, with Linux 3.8.0-26-generic (recovery mode)

Press Return and your machine will begin the boot process

select enable networking
select drop to shell

2. setup drivers - 64 bit

go on nvidea driver download I have get
put it in a folder you remember (your home) and make it executable (chmod u+x ./
sudo apt-get purge nvidia*
sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf or sudo vim /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

add at the end this lines

blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist rivafb
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist rivatv

and save

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub or better if you like vim: sudo vim /etc/default/grub

and change it to

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"

sudo update-grub

now you have to go text-only:

use CTRL+ALT+F1 to go on text-only
to come back on graphic mode use CTRL+ALT+F7

sudo gdm service stop or sudo service lightdm stop
sudo sh ./
it give you some warning on pre build script I have continued
it ask you to accept some condition, you give all yes
let it change xorg.profile for you
sudo reboot

if you have trouble at reboot you can do a new reboot and start in recovery mode:

Advanced options
recovery mode

after this if you continue by the normal boot you can login in graphical mode but after you are logged in you have to repeat step 7,8,9

at next login you can boot on graphical mode.

this procedure has worked for me I hope work for you too.

also worked for me so able to use cards in my OS - Linux

5 out of 5 eggsThis card is an absolute delight, in so many ways. ...

Pros: If you are looking for cool & quiet, then this is THE card to get. I was shocked at how quiet the card actually was in fact, and even when I raised the fans much higher it was still virtually silent. Nice! This dual-fan design by ASUS seems to be a real winner here.

Currently idling at 31C, which is much cooler than the Radeon HD 4550 which it replaced. In fact I don't even think it's possible to overheat this card even if you pinned it on the redline for hours with dusty fans. It just doesn't get hot enough.

Needless to say, the performance increase has been extreme after testing out some games. And while it isn't the fastest card available, it certainly won't disappoint the average gamer at all for the price. Stellar bang for the buck on exciting new architecture.

Additionally, bonus points for them including a D-Sub connector...which easily allows my older monitor to be used as a 2nd display. In fact this is one of the main reasons I initially looked at this card as almost all in this class lack one.

Finally, stability is solid as well, I mean really tight. I haven't had a single issue as far as that goes on WinXP.

Cons: If there is anything at al I can mention here, it has nothing to do with the actual hardware itself, but rather, it's that the Nvidea Control Panel is quite lacking compared to ATI's Catalyst.

I had to actually use a 3rd party commercial app just to create custom color profiles which is quite unbelievable to me. C'mon guys, improve the panel and provide more features for these high-performance cards!

That aside, I know many gripe about the 6-pin power connector which seems somewhat superfluous on this particular card, but really, I think I like the idea of having it myself just to ensure stability while overclocking it further. It certainly doesn't hurt any.

This isn't anything that bothers me personally, since my PSU has support for it anyhow and even the location of the pin isn't that much of an issue for the typical user. Apparently ASUS mentioned that the location is very strategic, and it's to do with it being as close to the voltage regulation circuitry as possible.

Other Thoughts: The card is somewhat lengthy so make sure to measure inside your case before purchasing, just to make sure it properly fits. If you have a drive in the bay adjacent to it, you may have to move it around to a different level.

Incidentally, I actually did register for one of the free games (Warface) and I can confirm that the buyer will have access to it...but I really don't play online games much so I just wanted to take the card for a spin as it were, to see how well it performed. And yes the process to actually procure all the games is a bit tedius but it's doable at least.

Overall very happy with this purchase! It's just what a wanted, a card that runs highly efficiently and which doesn't heat up my room, crash intermittantly, or make a racket... yet which still does everything I ask of it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mid-level Gaming Card

Pros: I needed a card that wouldn't break the bank and performed nicely. This card performers exceptionally well and is completely quiet. Great card if you don't need Ultra graphics on the newest games.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My first gaming pc video card. Very satisfied with it.

5 out of 5 eggsA Lot of Bang for the Buck!

Pros: If you're at all familiar with my other reviews you already know how much I like A*** products. This GPU is no exception. Can drive up to 4 monitors if that's your thing, although resolution variance might give you a headache. I have 3 A*** 21.5" monitors which is, honestly, 2 more than I actually need. I remember my very first PC build some years ago. There were no flat screen monitors back then. I had a 20" monitor (which weighed about 30# easily) & I managed just fine with that single monitor for years. Of course, those were the days when a 56K modem was considered high speed. :-)
I do like a double monitor setup but adding a third was basically just because I could.
The price is just right for a GPU of this caliber. I also got $150 worth of free gaming downloads at no additional charge. Granted, I never actually downloaded any of them as the process has you jumping the rings of fire. Far too much toil & trouble.

Cons: The only downside, as far as I'm concerned, is the power hungry nature of this particular GPU. This, however, is not worth losing an egg.

Other Thoughts: All in all, a great GPU for the intermediate PC DIY builder. The card itself has 2 fans of it's own attached to it for increased thermal performance. The size is also a plus. My previous GPU was a third again longer than my current one, allowing for better cable management & a better thermal environment over all.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for what i needed

Pros: needed a gpu for various games until maxwell comes out and i get a 4k monitor
wow raids @ 120 fps on ultra was kind of cool (mostly cpu related though as far as i understand)

Cons: came with useless game currency

Other Thoughts: if maxwell continues to impress like it has in the mobile gpus and the ti cards then GTX 880 will be awesome
