5 out of 5 eggsSweet Power

Pros: 2 ASUS cards in Crossfire mode - chew through everything i throw at them. They run cool and are whisper quiet. Easy to set up. ASUS did a great job with these cards. Not the monster that the R9 cards are - but the cost difference made 2 a viable option.

Cons: None. I have had ASUS cards before and never been disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsDear AMD, i love this card!

Pros: Verrry fast
Verrry reliable
Mossstly quiet

Cons: it does not crossfire with the R9290
A little loud, but it it never went over 60*c for me, so i didn't mind.
it's big, but shocker, all cards are big these days. I say make the cards bigger and force the case manufacturers to make bigger cases!

Other Thoughts: This is such an awesome video card. You can get this card and need nothing else. This is absolutely THE BEST card you can get at this price point. I' know because i've searched the internet far and wide!
That said, I bought an R9290 (aftermarket deal), and learned the hard way it does not crossfire with the r9280. The R9 280 (this card) uses a crossfire bridge, but the R9 290 does not use a bridge, it uses CF through your PCI slot. Some snarky readers might be saying "Why would you want to crossfire this card with an R9 290 anyway!?" Well, live and learn.
So if you want to crossfire this card, do so with another of this card, which is what I wish I had done. But I compared this card with the r9 290 and the difference was marginal, maybe 10% or 20% faster.

Final take away is this: The r9 series of cards are very good quality, very good price, very good performance, and the r9280 is the sweetspot.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card!

Pros: Quiet, I actually had to touch the fans to believe that it was on and working. The thing takes everything I throw at it, playing almost all my games at max 144 fps. SC2 will drop to 60 if there are a LOT of units, other than that this thing is a champ. Apparently more so than it's brother the 280X.

Cons: Card is huge, but I knew this already. Fits just fine in my Rosewill Thor.

On my second day of using the card, my screen filled up with random lines and colors. Couldn't see a thing, was worried, unplugged, tried other plugs, same deal. Turned the computer off, took the card out... cried, put it back in, and nothing. It's been 3 weeks now, crossing my fingers this is a one time thing that could either be my new monitor or the card just getting some growing pains out of the way.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: This card is everything I wanted it to be. I previously had a gtx 550 ti and was happy with it but just needed an upgrade. I did just that and this card delivers. I have pushed it hard with games and it always delivers stable frame rates. It is a solid purchase but sadly already outdated. Having two of these for a crossfire setup would be pretty intense though.

Cons: The drivers for AMD were really hard to deal with at first. The new driver is what I recommend as it was super easy to install and has been really stable. The other thing is that this card weighs a ton and is quite long. If you have an older mobo it will sag its weight against an older slot forcing the fans to spin against the heatsink. I had to tie 20g kanthal wire through the back of the card and up through the top of my tower to hold this fat card up.

Other Thoughts: Solid card, I stand by my purchase even in the face of these nvidia monsters. If you truly support the pc gaming community buy amd. Without competition, nvidia will gain a stranglehold on the marketplace and prices will go through the roof.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat card but...

Pros: Card runs great on all the games i've played with it besides Archeage. It's fairly quiet other than that runs as you would expect.

Cons: I'm not sure if it's just drivers issues or what but i've been getting lots of blue screens. I've tried to play Archeage numerous times and it just won't get very far before blue screening. Streaming from the web is also another problem netflix blue screens quite often too. I've uninstalled my prior drivers and am completely up to date on catalyst but the issues keep coming and even seem to be happening more often.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Brobber,

I do apologize that you experienced issues with your GPU BSOD'ing. If you would like to discuss this case further, please contact me through email and include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you had tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you. Cs#N141018486

5 out of 5 eggsLarger

Pros: Card runs cools and fairly quit never gets over 65c. At stock voltages and a bit of a bump to fan speed as well as power limit of %20+ this card will run stable at 1150mhz core clock with a ram clock of 1400mhz. card is well built with a full metal fan/heat sink shroud as well as a metal card support. Pci power ports have the clip facing up this is much nicer than having them facing down this should be a feature on every card.

Cons: This card is big to the point a had to remove my side pannel fan due to the heat pipe hitting the fan this card is also vary long make sure you have clearance. The weight of this card make is so that a simple flap style pci slot retention system may not hold this card in place properly for cards of this size you really need them to be held in place by some type of screw. even when properly secured this card has a bit of sag even with the metal support piece would have been nice to have a metal back plate for this card.

Other Thoughts: overall this is a fairly high end card for the price and it size is to be expected the card overclocks well while keeping noise down even at full speed the fans are not defining. while the odd clip orientation for the power connectors can make cable management different it is a welcome feature and there are two led indicator lights above the power connectors that are green when the card has proper power it would have been nice to see these led lights be controllable or a different color such as blue. only minor gripes with this card.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful workhorse

Pros: Powerful. Performance per dollar spent is excellent. Runs very quiet.

Cons: Very large. Very hot, but that is to be expected with a card overclocked out of the box. The heat is a non issue if your case has proper airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card, the cooler...

Pros: Had 14.4 driver already installed from a hd 7770, unplugged it and installed this card, no problems. Runs as cool as everyone els has stated and can max every game with playable fps.

Cons: I noticed the vrm's would get to 95c so I checked the card's heatsink and it It depressed 3/16 of an inch when i squeezed the side of the card, which made me wonder if it was making proper contact. I put a light weight clamp on the side to keep it depressed and now the vrm's don't exceed 60c and 27c(there are two vrm sensors). Since then i have overclocked it to 1120 core and 1400 memory with no voltage bump and completely stable, and still around 70c at full load. So a small con but a huge comeback on the oc!

4 out of 5 eggsDon't underestimate it

Pros: let's see here...

- its power draw isn't near as bad as I expected
- Very quiet
- despite what everyone says, it runs fairly cool. Under the highest load I saw about 185 degrees F, and I'll admit, it was a pretty heavy load. I wanted to push this thing, see what she'd do.
- Visually stunning graphics. It just doesn't compare to my old R7 250 that it replaced. There's just no comparison. It's like comparing a BB gun to a cruise missile.
- AMD's gaming deal right now. 3 free games? Yes, please!

- They made unboxing it an event. I may just be simple minded, but it was a true over-hype moment when I got to open that embossed-cardboard, gold-lettered box.

Cons: - It's a GIANT graphics card. I had to bend the side plate of my tower a bit to ensure clearance between it and what I can only describe as a heat pipe. I ended up just leaving the side cover off of my computer...makes it easier to clean out, anyways.

- I didn't come with all the necessary wiring. It came with one 4-pin cable, when it required two. Thankfully, the power supply I bought with this came with more spare cables than I needed, and I found one that works. Bad ASUS! You send everything that's needed with your cards!

- The instructions were as clear as mud. They were highly generalized, and probably weren't even for the graphics card I purchased.

Other Thoughts: For the price, I'm a happy camper. It runs competitively against my friends and their vaunted NVidia graphics cards, while being at a lower price point. Sometimes it'll even outrun their cards.

In using it with Star Citizen, the graphics are almost too clean, too crisp. I showed my father my hanger in Star Citizen, and he swore up and down it looked real(heh, entertaining the old folks!)

on World of Tanks, at High settings, I'm averaging about 40-45 FPS, which of course fluctuates largely due to the nature of the game itself. It runs great at Ultra, but my eyes can only handle so much.

really, in my modest collection of 40-something games, I have yet to find one that doesn't run at High or better.

Also, I get a new ship for Star Citizen thanks to me buying this graphics card? Thanks, AMD!
