The Asus DirectCU II R7265-DC2-2GD5 is powered by an AMD Radeon R7 265, the latest AMD GPU designed to take your gaming to the next level. Based on AMD generation GCN architecture and boasting support for DirectX 11.2, the Radeon R7 265 is built to play the very latest games with perfectly smooth action even at higher resolutions. New AMD Eyefinity Technology allows you to build a three-monitor environment through just two DVI and one HDMI ports, without connecting a DisplayPort which is required in the HD 7000 series. AMD PowerTune technology redefines the nature of performance, giving you the performance you need when you need it. A rich set of AMD innovative technologies is included, such as App Acceleration, AMD ZeroCore, and AMD HD3D technology. With these technology advancements, you'll get more than one way to elevate your gaming experience.

This model is equipped with loads of exclusive Asus technologies and tools, including DirectCU II for 20% cooler and three-times quieter gaming performance, Super Alloy Power components for vastly improved longevity, and GPU Tweak - an easy-to-use software tool that allows users to squeeze more performance out of the GPU.

  • newegg DirectCU II Flattened copper heat pipes make direct contact with the GPU surfaces so heat is dissipated more efficiently, delivering 20% cooler and a three-times quieter performance than the reference. (Equivalent to 14dB, and performance varies depending on system configuration)
  • newegg Super Alloy Power Exclusively-formulated alloy components boost performance by reducing power loss, enhancing durability, and achieving cooler operation. Choke concrete cores eliminate buzzing sounds under full loads, while capacitors assure a 50,000-hour lifespan – equivalent to 2.5 times longer than traditional capacitors.
  • newegg GPU Tweak with Streaming GPU Tweak helps you modify clock speeds, voltages, fan performance, and more, all via an intuitive interface. What’s more, a convenient online-streaming function lets you share gameplay live – so people can watch as you play! It's even possible to add to the streaming window scrolling text, pictures, and webcam images.
  • newegg Mantle There’s optimization, and then there’s Mantle. Games enabled with Mantle speak the language of GCN architecture to unlock revolutionary performance and image quality. (Application support is required.)
  • newegg AMD App Acceleration Improve performance of everyday tasks such as Web browsing, office applications, and video rendering.
  • newegg AMD HD3D Immerse yourself in stereoscopic 3D gaming, and get up close and personal with your favorite stars while watching Blu-ray 3D. AMD HD3D is also designed for professionals who create complex visual effects and detailed data visualizations.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, Fast

Pros: Fast (maxed out the WIndows Experience Index score for all graphics categories)

Quiet. As quiet as a fanless card but without the performance hit.

Economical.

Cons: Two slots. Put it in a PCI 2 slot even though it is rated at PCI 3

5 out of 5 eggsBest GPU cooler ever.

Pros: 70C under 100% load, over clocked to 1100mhz with fans on auto mode and only running 57% speed... All while rock solid stable.

Cons: Don't have another pci-e 3.0 slot for another one and I can't get it to crossfire with my A10-7700k

5 out of 5 eggsSeems ok so far

Pros: runs my older games like crysis, left for dead 2, diablo 3 really well
price for what you get is right

Cons: not any yet

Other Thoughts: My plan is to get one more when price goes down another 50ish bucks...i think the sli set-up will really make the gpu shine for under $300

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Card for the Price

Pros: Plays my games on High settings with no problems (DayZ standalone, Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls 2, etc).

Stays cool and quiet (about 27C idle, 53C under load).

Easy install.

Pretty good price at $160.

Cons: No spec sheet for the card included in the box.

Other Thoughts: I see that there's an offer for 2 free games with purchase now. Kind of wish I'd held out a bit longer on this purchase so I could've taken advantage of that.

3 out of 5 eggs50/50

Pros: Runs almost every game I throw at it without pause on highest settings.

Cons: Sleeping Dogs still crashes after about an hour of game play.

Other Thoughts: R9 is only $20 more, same 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 ram but a better processor speed.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes Frequently

Pros: Runs 4 displays very well - when it isn't crashing

Cons: Crashes and locks up system frequently.

Other Thoughts: I Put in two of these to run my 4 displays. Installed the software. It came up simply, immediately, worked great, and then crashed. It has continued to crash and lock up my system several times a day at random intervals. The only way to un-crash/unfreeze my system is to shut down the system via the physical power button, losing all of my current unsaved work, and requiring several minutes to reboot.

I called ASUS tech support and got the usual broken-English novice tech support. He first tried to tell me my board was incompatible until I advised him it is an Asus Sabertooth board and fully compatible. He then advised to reset the Cmos. (Several local very experienced techs advised against this). He then advised to send the cards back without any troubleshooting whatsoever. That seemed the limit of his script and knowledge.

I have a powerful system and PS that should run these no problem.

Sending the cards back now, without any troubleshooting is not an option right now as I am buried in work using these so will have to limp along with these for a while until there is time and money for a local tech to troubleshoot them. As this will likely be hundreds of dollars to just get these cards working or find that they can't these will eventually be a majestically expensive investment by the time I get them (or other cards) working. Pretty discouraged with Asus right now.

Though these could easily receive a four or even five egg rating when they work consistently, given that they crash frequently, they currently deserve only one rotten egg.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the display cards. Although it may be possible the cards are causing the issue, more than likely something else is causing the problem. When you have time, please contact me through email, including any troubleshooting steps tried, and we can figure out what is going on in your computer build. 3653560.

Regards,

Mark

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy for the price, plays everything well

Pros: Great graphics card for the money, for $170 I got it for it plays all the games I want at high-ultra settings at around 50 FPS. That includes Diablo 3, Battlefield 4, League of Legends, and many other games I play. Can't wait to add another one!

Cons: The only con I have for this graphics card is that it clearly says in the Newegg description that three monitors can be connected without the use of a display port. That is completely wrong, it is no different then the older series where you need a display port connection to hookup that third monitor. Just tried setting up my three Asus monitors and ran into this problem, so this is a heads up to anyone looking to do so. I unfortunately had to run to the store to purchase this cable in order to make it work.

Other Thoughts: Happy gaming!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the money!

Pros: 256 bit bus width for only 170
I researched all the other card manufacturers for this particular card, build quality among Sapphire, Asus, XFX and Gigabyte were all about the same but Asus has a superior cooler/heat sink on it.

Cons: It doesn't have 1080 cores like the XFX version does

Other Thoughts: I just wish this card had 1080 cores like the XFX but it more than makes up for it with the better stock cooler design. 5 eggs for the fact that just one of these runs Titanfall and BF4 on maxed out settings but I bought two and crossfired them and got 7800 on 3Dmark and I have a first gen i7. Why buy an expensive nvidia card when just two of these in crossfire is all you'll ever need?
