5 out of 5 eggsPoseidon

Pros: This card is incredibly fast maxing out battlefield 4 with a frame rate consistantly over 60fps and this is only when clocked at 970 mhz , this card has a crazy overclocking headroom especially if watercooled

Cons: I found nothing bad about this card so far

Other Thoughts: I couldn't really find any guides on how to water cool this card. keep in mind i have never water cooled before so there is a forewarning curve

5 out of 5 eggsFollow UP Review on ASUS Poseidon

Pros: The card does look very nice. It is heavy and feels solid. It delivers gaming performance that far exceeds my two prior MSI GTX 460 Night Hawk SLI paired cards. When the one 460's Twin Frozer fans died it did me a favor forcing me to go get a more modern card.

These GTX780P cards aren't as high end as the 780TI versions in performance based on my web searching. However, at the time I purchased this, there was no contest based on price. The extra performance wasn't worth another $150 ish more to get the TI performance.

The Poseidon runs cooler than either of my older 460's. In Skyrim at Ultra settings (the game defaulted to these set points after the card was installed) the max temp is about 54 °C. The 460 cards used to hit 68 to 79 °C at the best quality settings they were stable at.

Visual rendering shows detail that made me do a double take the first time gaming with it (Skyrim). I was seeing objects / features that I'd never seen before at distance.

For me especially now as I look at the current list price of $459 and change the Pro of the year on this card was catching it at $345 ish in price with a rebate that (when it gets to me) will drop the price to about $300.

Cons: Well as far as the physical card goes there was one and I guess it is minor in as much as it hasn’t manifested in a failure yet.

When I unboxed the card and lifted the clear windowed tray and foam padding off of it the right hand fan came off the card. Yeah a real "are you kidding me" moment! I examined the fan and the shaft had two rings cut in it and was tapered at the tip. I guessed it is actually meant to be removable for cleaning, so I shoved it back on slowly feeling for it to "Catch". I then flipped it fan down and gave some gentle shaking to see if it would fall out, it didn't. I then spun it with a finger tip, it stayed in. Still running flawlessly and it is about 3 weeks later so I guess it is no big deal.

Boarderlands the PreSequal. Not my cup of tea in a game. Hate the Japanese Anime style art work. Played it about 1 hour and after download install on Steam, haven't touched it since.

Other Thoughts: Great card for $345, not sure I'd of purchased it at the current price especially with the 970's out now.

Giving the card 5 eggs despite the fan thing and my irritation with customer service tech person.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Temperature, look, graphics, Epicness

Cons: How dare you ask.

Other Thoughts: I love this card, I could barely bring myself to open the box when i got it, it was that beautiful. When the box finally did open, it came with just the basics, the card itself, an epic looking decal, and the driver Cd. Get this card if you want to see pure happiness on your monitor in the form of colliding pixels of wonderfulness.
P.s. I may or may not have cradled this card like a child.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-Up

Pros: This is a follow-up review in regards to the Borderlands- The Pre-Sequel gift. I know that it is a digital download and not a hard copy, however i was under the impression i would receive the code with the graphics card itself on a slip of paper or something. However i checked my email and low and behold, my content code :) feeling a bit silly but satisfied none the less.

Cons: None at all, very satisfied with newegg and it's products/service.

Other Thoughts: i did intend to purchase the directcuII version of the asus gtx 780, however the day i went to order it it mysteriously disappeared from the inventory, without notification of being out of stock, and after being in stock the previous day with no warning of being low on stock. No big deal though, this works just as great, just a bit of a bummer considering water cooling is out of the question for me.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic card! Quiet and powerful. More than worth it! A steal compared to other 780s.

Pros: I upgraded from an EVGA GTX 580 to this beast. It handles any game I throw at it on the highest settings without even going above 65c @ 80% fan speed. Final Fantasy XIV and Witcher 2 being two of the more graphically intensive games I own, this card manages to handle them without a problem at 60 fps, save for a few dips to 45ish on FFXIV when I'm in a main city and there are LOADS of people on screen. Without. Going. Above. 65c. Maybe I'm just so amazed by this because my previous card was pushing 88c on FFXIV, and would practically melt from the Witcher 2. Cooling and performance are both wonderful. I'm only using air cooling, by the way. Even on 100% fan speeds, this card is incredibly quiet. I tested the different fan levels from 30% to 100%, and man, I was pleased. Going from a GTX 580 that sounds like a jet turbine at 85%, I was more than happy with my purchase. But you seriously won't ever need to go above 80% fan speed with this card, and even that is probably too much. If you're looking for a card that can handle both current and future games, without spending over $400, this is the card to get. Even moreso if you have a rig with liquid cooling. Unfortunately I can't say if the stock fittings are any good, or if the liquid cooling works well. According to other videos and reviews, however, it seems very good.

Cons: The only real negative thing about the card that I can think of is the length. It's fairly long, however, only 1.5 cm or so longer than an EVGA GTX 580. If you don't have a full tower, there's a good chance this monster won't fit in your tower. Also, I got confused because you have to plug the PCI-E cables in upside-down, which isn't the case with my previous GTX 580. But that's literally just me being dumb. Not even a con. As you can see, it's hard to come up with cons for this card.

Other Thoughts: As for the free game, Borderlands: Pre-Sequel, there was another review saying that their game didn't ship with the card. The game is digital! When you buy the card, you get an e-mail with a code after the free "purchase" was made (when you bought the card). You input the code on EVGAs site, then you get another code to use on Steam. As for the actual game, I haven't even installed it yet. Too busy playing the games I already have that look incredible now ;-;

4 out of 5 eggsWhere's my game? :/

Pros: Looks amazing, runs amazing, no complaints on hardware whatsoever aside from the cheep-feedling plastic on the front.

Cons: It didn't ship with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which was a key reason I purchased the card.

Other Thoughts: I hope the game comes in soon, I'm really looking forward to playing it!

2 out of 5 eggsASUS ROG POSEIDON-GTX780 and Smoke n Mirrors

Pros: Maybe the card when it gets here. I researched it extensively before purchasing. I was satisfied with the $342.99 price and loved the addtional 4% off discount through 10-22-14 which gets it down to $329 and change. Then there is the intangible of a $30 buck rebate that sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't. If I get it then $299 and change for a pretty high end card.

Cons: The cheesy Boarderlands Pre-Sequel game. I don't have any of the Boarderlands games, not interested in it. Customer service at New Egg that I had to endure.

This game is NOT free. I'm invoiced for $59.99 of if I'm invoiced and my CC was hit for that amount, the stuff isn't free. So the premis that it is free is a con-job and that I hate as well!

Other Thoughts: I'm so angry at being forced to take the game and the arrogant condescending jerk from Customer Service, that I think this may be my last purchase from New Egg ever! The deal is sweet, but not that frigg'n sweet!

I will (if I don't get banned for this review) post about the card's actual performance if and when it gets here. I went super saver free ground shipping so it may be next week this time before I see it. This will be a replacement for a pair of MSI GTX 460 Night Hawks . The fans fried out on the Twin Frozer II on one board and I'm running just one of them. I miss the second one.

3 out of 5 eggsBeautiful and Cheap

Pros: Alright, so I'm sure there are tons of amazing things i can say about this card. like the Price right now... and the fact that its a hybrid cooled GTX 780 ROG Series card. thats all amazing!

Cons: But... I ordered mine over 6 days ago and still haven't gotten it, its still processing. my payment was charged. and i have been waiting patiently for my 2-Day shipping to be worth it. but still this is the only time i have had any issues with newegg.com other than the fact that they ship through UPS most of the time. my home security system has caught them tossing my packages to my doorstep from a distance of up to 8 feet more than once.

Other Thoughts: I have 2-day shipping. Would live it greatly if someone from Newegg would contact me.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price.
Price.
ROG branding, beautiful housing for card.
It's a GTX 780.
Price.
Air/Liquid cooling.
Price.

Cons: It's now an older series.
Does not excel at liquid cooling nor air cooling.
Would have rather seen even deeper discounts to the card rather than a free game. Or a credit to choose a game from a list.

Other Thoughts: At almost half the price that it was a month ago, the argument that the 780 is old has little weight. This was a $600 card that can now be had for under $350. It's only a month outdated; if you had bought this for $600 in august it would have been the latest and greatest, so these 780's are real steals, considering that they are on par with 970's and those are notoriously difficult to order right now.

Honestly, this card has taken some hits about the liquid cooling, but it does what its intended to do well. It does provide better than air cooling, but it's obviously not as good as an EK waterblock. That's a given. EK waterblocks costs an extra $200, and require removing the current heatsink. This solution allows to reduce temps by 10-20 degrees if you decide to hook it up to a pump or buy an AIO that can be converted into a gpu AIO, such as the swiftech 220x.

Don't be fooled by the 970 propaganda, the 780 is still a beauty, 3gb will be enough for everything but the most intensive games at 4k, and the prices are unbeatable as companies try to liquidate stock and compete with the 970's prices.
