DirectCU II with 0dB Fan Technology 38% Cooler for Nearly Silent Gaming

Exclusive DirectCU II cooling technology outperforms reference designs with an exclusive 10mm heatpipe that transports 40% more heat away from the GPU - a first for the industry! The design also includes 220%-larger heat-dissipation: this means performance that's 38% cooler and three-times (3X) quieter than reference for ultra-stable hardcore gaming with very low noise.

ExclExclAnd Strix ups the ante still further with 0dB fan technology that lets you enjoy games like League of Legends® and StarCraft® in complete silence - because the card's thermal design is able to keep GPU temperature below 65°C, so the fan stops completely!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card in its series

Pros: Runs quiet and performs well in dual monitor. Runs most games without problems.

Cons: Even though its a 6GB GDDR card, system information is showing 4GB, cant figure out why.

Its pricey for a card.

Other Thoughts: Would get 5 eggs if it was not difficult to configure. I still get jaggies and stairway effect in games when running max at 1600x900. and not utalizing the whole 6GB of GDDR men.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 6GB Ram, runs quiet, powerful card. On a single standard 1920x1080 resolution, I can run an exceptionally heavily modded Skyrim at 60 fps at all times.

Replaced two 460s running in SLI and the change is definitely worth it. Love this card!

Cons: It's a rather large card, so make sure that you have room in your case for it. I have a full sized Thor tower with a large noctua heat sink and had no issues whatsoever fitting it in. But a medium sized case might have a bit of a squish. (This really isn't a con at all, just a make sure you understand what you are buying.)

Other Thoughts: Excellent video card, able to run everything that I throw at it without even the slightest bit of a hitch. It runs absolutely quiet most of the time, sometimes making some sound when the fans kick in, but even when the fans are kicked in it runs much quieter than my old video card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card so far

Pros: Runs cool, stable at decent overclock, relatively quiet
Heat dispersion is impressive - lets me run at lower fan RPMs
Power connector LEDs are a nice touch

Cons: Expensive, but not much more than expected
Idle temps are strangely high...low- to mid-30s, but that is probably because the fans are barely running
Windows 7 initially wouldn't recognize 2nd card, but a complete driver uninstall/reinstall fixed the problem for me (Asus P8Z77-V PRO mobo)

Other Thoughts: I have been running two of these at a +150 MHz core overclock regularly for a few weeks now and have had no problems whatsoever. (Not stable for me at +200 when stressing the VRAM, but I don't really need that extra 50 MHz.)

I have been using them primarily for GPU-based rendering, where the 6GB is necessary for large scenes (Octane) and/or substantially increases rendering speed (Redshift). The 50% more CUDA cores and 50% more VRAM over the GTX 770 4GBs are a godsend for this kind of work.

Compared to my old Windforce GTX 770s, these cool off at FAR lower fan RPMs, which is great, since this means less noise and less dust. I am using an aggressive fan profile via MSI Afterburner, and even for extended renders or FurMark, it's tough for me to push the top card above 55C. My old cards would regularly hit the low- to mid-60s with the fans at 100%. I guess those fancy heatsink/pipes really work!

Price-wise, it's about 50% more than the initial GTX 770 4GB price, for 50% more cores and that seems fairly reasonable, compared to the Titans.

The 780Ti may still be king for gaming, but for my applications, the 6GB is definitely worth it at this price. I'm glad I waited for Asus to come out with one - unlike EVGA, MSI, and Gigabyte, I have never had an Asus card or component fail on me, and this DirectCU technology really seems to work.

4 out of 5 eggsI bought this on July 14, 2014

Pros: 6GB of VRAM, great for Watch Dogs. I've been tinkering with this card for about 2 weeks. It overclocks like a beast. I am able to run the card +160 mhz on the the boost clock and +600mhz on the memory, gaining about 8 fps on Valley Benchmark. It runs all games at max settings with good fps.

Cons: Expensive but I did buy it for $589 on launch day (July 14th, 2014). It should have been released earlier since we are inbetween gpu generations for Nvidia. The 800 series is coming this October/November already.

I am also dissapointed that Asus GPU tweak will not load on my system. It fails during installation. Asus was not able to help me at all. They told me to reinstall my entire OS which I'm not going to do. So for now, I'm using EVGA Precision X which is a good program. That is why I took off 1 egg; expensive and GPU Tweak doesn't install. I am running Windows 8.1 and that is not the issue.

Other Thoughts: I do recommend this card over the regular GTX 780 with 3GB of VRAM. I have used EVGA precision to monitor VRAM usage in Watch Dogs and i takes over 3.5GB of VRAM on Ultra @ 1080P. Future games will require more VRAM. Rumors are saying the new GTX 880 will have up to 8GB of VRAM. I'm glad I made this purchase because 3 years ago I bought the 1.5GB versions of the GTX 580 due to bad advice by people on other forums. They told me I would not need 3GB of VRAM and it was a waste of money. Look at today, 3GB is the minimum required to run games on Ultra. Do yourself a favor and always buy the most amount of VRAM possible.

Watch my unboxing and install video. I beat Linustech and Newegg to it :)

5 out of 5 eggsYes, get this over the 780 TI

Pros: If you're like me, I couldn't make up my mind about buying this or the 780 TI version, well, GET THIS ONE!!! With this card, you'll be ready for 4K gaming! Look, 2300+ cuda cores is MORE THAN ENOUGH to run ANY game on Ultra settings! The 780 TI version has 2800+; nice, but it is limited with only 3GB of VRAM! And it's VRAM that you're gonna need for gaming on Ultra High End monitors in the future! I think I'm gonna get one more, when the price comes down...gotta be sure I have enough impact power for 3D 4K gaming next year! I just need to sell some more blood--I'm feeling light headed right now....did the room just go dark? Get this card if you haven't made up your mind between 6GB of VRAM or the 780 TI--JUST DO IT!

Cons: I do not like the upside down power connectors! I had to twist my video power cables in an awkward position in order to connect the power cables to this card. BAD CHOICE, ASUS!!!

Other Thoughts: One for now; two for 3D 4K Gaming next year! Hopefully there will be some USED ones latter on. $599?!!! Ouch!!!
