5 out of 5 eggsreview

Pros: this guy has the most features you could ask for in a capture/tuner device. It works flawlessly, and does audio over usb, as well as straight input audio as well if you like. the case is comes with is great. considering the small footprint they did a great job.

Cons: the only con I have is they might have been able to make the opening bigger on the video rca jacks to allow for rca jacks that dont have a single external metal sleeve. but its possible that the unit was too small to do this.

Other Thoughts: the best pure capture/tuner device for this price. I bought this because I didn't want hardware mpeg capabilities.

4 out of 5 eggsLeadtek TV

Pros: Drivers for WinXP, easy enough to install.

Cons: No Component audio in (only 1/8" jack), video component in doesn't allow all all plugs to work. Bright lights and a short wire. Could never get the remote to work.

Other Thoughts: Not a waste of money, looks sleek does its job and works all the time. I had a few problems here and there, but i'm not sure how it stacks against others.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Good quality picture and software. Remote works and has good functions, including the ability to shut down the computer, but it needs to be aimed directly at the receiver. Good small size and a travel case.

Cons: Sometimes the audio gets out of sync but you can just shut it down and start it back up again. The recorded files a massive but maybe thats because i havent figured out how to properly use the software yet. Blue leds don't do anything, but they're not really a problem.

Other Thoughts: This is my first tv tuner and i'm very pleased with it. It works great on my dell e1705 laptop

2 out of 5 eggsWorks OK...

Pros: Quality is good, software is decent.

Cons: No composite port. You have "video in", but if you want audio in, you have to buy RCA to Headphones splitter. 99.9% of those splitters go from headphones to RCA input, but not from RCA input to headphones. I don't know how the $#!# I'm going to hook up my gaming console to it. Just don't buy it if you plan to do anything more than flip channels; it's useless.

Pros: Does what it promises. Easy to set up. Decent picture and sound.

Cons: The quality could be a little better. Software could be confusing to some. Just follow the intructions. A little pricey.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it did what I needed. I used it to copy old VHS tapes to my computer since my old VCR is almost dead.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: It works. Listen to Radio, watch TV, copy your old VHS tapes to your PC, play consoles on your monitor.

Cons: Does get very hot. No RCA Audio in (only mic jack). Not WorlWide tuner. As stated Before, dont try po plig it into different USB port, it will mess everything. Blue leds are very distracting and really useless.

Other Thoughts: Could be cheapper...

3 out of 5 eggsMy first USB TV tuner

Pros: Relatively small
Inputs for coxial, FM, RCA video (but not audio)
Audio over USB
Functions as a USB hub as well
There's also audio 3.5mm jacks for input and output. That's a mixed blessing.

Cons: Externally powered. Not ideal for the laptop-tv solution.
Installation program was designed for morons, and installs like a moron. Never ever use flash for an installation program.
LEDs are distracting.
Picture quality could use work.
Tweaking options are non-existant, and it really hurts for gaming.

Other Thoughts: I'm running Windows XP SP1, and audio over USB doesn't work at all. The driver doesn't install on default, and installing the driver manually from the CD just gives you a bad driver in device manager. The installation CD will waste your time by advertising other products from leadtek before you can proceed. It was something like 40 seconds advertising and 15 seconds installation. What a waste. I can listen to audio using headphones, but that's still a waste. The picture is grainy, I'm using the broadcast stations, but on a friend's SP2 computer, the audio is still crackly and the picture still grainy with superb cable. RCA video plug looks relatively well.
The installation is the hardest part, and I still don't have it. Newest drivers, driver cleaners. I'm RMA'ing this, but on my friend's computer it worked decent for a TV tuner (still a grainy picture). But if he wanted one, he'd get a PCI card instead.

4 out of 5 eggsClarifications

Pros: Small footprint, audio over usb ( no extra wires ), FM tuner, absolutelly no delay on video input, good picture qualty, come with a remote, build in usb hub

Cons: The drivers and software that ships on the CD have some problems, the remote is too small for my taste and kinda cheaply made, the TV tuner is NOT a world wide one ( unlike the newer products from Leadtech )

Other Thoughts: This is fairly pricy but I am truly not sorry for buying it. The build in usb hub is 2.0 and is very fast. Saves me some space on the desk. As far as some of the comments about bad picture quality go there are several things that you should be aware of. This is never going to look like your TV because it has to extrapolate from a lower to a higher resolution ( that of the TV reception to that of the monitor ). Also it is imperative that you make sure that you are using usb 2.0 with the device and the latest drivers and PVR application available. This device would not work well at all with usb 1.0 or problematic usb 2.0 ports. Compared to almost every other TV tuner that I have seen/owned this one has a very good quality. I often play my Xbox through this device and it work really well for what it is. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is the lack of a worldwide tuner when it already costs quite a bit.
Also my monitor's native resolution is 1400x1050 and the picture looks fine.

4 out of 5 eggsGREAT PRODUCT

Pros: You can record off of any camcorder, DVR, or cable/sat, to mpeg then burn dvd's, svcd's

Cons: direct burn doesn't, software that comes with it is good but there is better out there. powervcr II works well

Other Thoughts: overall great product, somewhat of a trial/error process until you make it work they way you want.
