Kick all your game settings to the max and get ready to rock with the Gigabyte GV-NX88S640H-RH based on the ultimate in 3D rendering technology — the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX chipset, clocked at 500 MHz, it utilizes the PCI Express x16 interface card races data throughput rates to higher frame rates with richer details in next-generation games and animation applications. The 96 stream processors simultaneously process graphics instructions from natively-supported 3D APIs such as DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.0, rendering glassy smooth playback.

The onboard 640 MB of 320-bit wide 1600 MHz GDDR3 can effortlessly transfer huge graphics textures without any flaws in the details! Twin DVI outputs and High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) support legitimate encrypted content display on dual display devices such as flat panels or generic CRT monitors. The GPU core features GigaThread Technology to handle thousands of independent, multi-threaded, next-generation shader instructions simultaneously to churn out higher frame rates in real-time.

The card supports PureVideo HD technology, ensuring compatibility with new video formats and the motion estimation engine (MEE) makes the simultaneous recording and playback of video files possible without affecting system performance. The SLI technology takes gaming to an altogether new level with stunning sound and image realism. The built-in heatsink-fan combo keeps you cool in the hottest action, but probably won't do much for the sweat you create keeping up!

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with UltraThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The world's first DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg NVIDIA Lumenex Engine The NVIDIA Lumenex Engine supports 128-bit and 64-bit floating point HDR with up to 16x anti-aliasing, delivering vividly realistic lighting effects while obliterating "jaggies".
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2x the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.
  • newegg NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.
  • newegg Built for Microsoft Windows Vista Built for Windows Vista, NVIDIA's fourth-generation GPU architecture offers users the best possible experience using the Windows Aero 3D graphical user interface available in Microsoft’s latest operating system.

5 out of 5 eggsBest in SLI

Pros: I have two of these babies for SLI. Nothing looks better from what I've seen.

Cons: HOT! HOT! HOT!...Better add some good cooling fans to it as well as airflow in the case

Other Thoughts: 2 of these and no one will mess with you!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood card!

Pros: The video card raised my 3DMark 6000 points. The drivers work great. Reason for purchase is the upcoming Gears of War PC release. Plays Battlefield 2142, Counter Strike: Source, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, at 60fps+.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The video card is HUGE. Very very huge. I don't even think a full ATX case will give it the room its needs. The end of the card literally sits 1/2 inch from my hard drives. Which I think can cause heat issues.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It is fast, it runs smoothly, it does what it should. Games run incredibly well.

Cons: Its hot. The fan is quiet, but when playing a game, everything on the card gets hot (not warm).

Other Thoughts: Maybe the fan should spin faster and make some noise to cool it off, but then again it runs so well I guess its fine. Also Newegg shipped it fast just like they are known for.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I'm using a single card in a Q6600 2.4GHz box running Vista Ultimate x64 - install was smooth, no drivers issues even though I'm using 64 bit.

Cons: If you don't read the installation guide, and you forget to connect the dedicated power cable to the card, your machine will not start up and will make a very loud buzzing sound like it's about to explode! :)

5 out of 5 eggsSecond time around***

Pros: Im back for my performance review. And its great. Runs Oblivion at 1900X1200 with 8SLIAA + HDR + @1080p smoothly. In sli a mite add.

Cons: notta

Other Thoughts: You really should have a fast cpu to help run one of these. If you going to do SLI, you MUST. i was running a setup with the X2 4600+ @ 2.4ghz. I was barely getting 50 frames in the Quake Wars demo(in SLI!!).Upgraded to the 6400+(a whole gig faster when overclocked) and now i get 67 fps. so it does make a difference.

5 out of 5 eggsFast

Pros: Twice faster than my old GF6800 GS - 8700 3dmarks-06 with Athlon X2 5600 or ~7100 with Athlon X2 4200. So you need fast CPU to utilise it's potential.

Cons: non

Other Thoughts: I have installed Thermaltake A2426 80mm fan under videocard - it reduced temp on 5-6C

4 out of 5 eggsOkay it works again

Pros: Same pros as my former review...except this time it works.

Cons: Price, the gigabyte is the most expensive of the the 8800 gtss out there. CIV IV is not worth $50 in my opinion. Medieval Total War II looks better buy that instead.

Other Thoughts: If I had known the 8800 gts was going to be had for sub $400 with rebates, I definetly would have waited. Buy a different 8800 gts and save the cash because there are no overclocked versions.
