5 out of 5 eggsgreat value

Pros: surprisingly good performance for a "mainstream" card while keeping a mainstream price. Quiet fan. Heat-sink attached properly from factory. (This has been rare with video cards I've purchased.) Never once had a problem.

Cons: The card is long and bumps into my hard drives. Still fits fine, just cramped. (I have a Lian Li PC-61 case for reference.) Don't expect to run filtering (AA) on new games.

Other Thoughts: This card proves that you don't need mega dollars to have mega awesome graphics.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card

Pros: Very good price/performance ratio; Good feature set, short of a GeForce 8800 card probably one of the most future-proof cards available; Zalman cooler is pretty quiet

Cons: Not 512 Mb; Zalman cooler is quiet but not silent; Other reviews note it is not for overclocking

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this card planning on overclocking, so the problems others have had in that area don't worry me. The card is pretty quiet although not silent. I considered the HIS card but at the time this card was a better deal. This is my first ATI card and so far I have been very pleased. If I could change one thing, I wish it had 512 Mb - but most reviews show that isn't much of a factor yet anyway. Gigabyte also advertises solid capacitors on this card, which should (allegedly) provide longer life - important to me because I don't upgrade my video card very often.
Note this card is a full 9 inches long - it barely fit in my Antec Solo case, but it did fit. Measure before you order!

1 out of 5 eggsHuston, we have a problem...

Pros: Best price for the 1950pro.

Cons: This card refuses to work in an Intel 955BKx motherboard. An 800XL works perfectly, but this one doesn't like this MB. I've tried 2 of them (Love NewEgg's RMA service! Way to go NewEgg!) and the one I have unfortunately must go back too. Last time I buy 3rd party ATI cards.

Other Thoughts: These cards should be 512 not 256. And most are still priced too high.

4 out of 5 eggs4.5 stars

Pros: Phenomenal performance for the price. Zalman cooler.

Cons: Requires an extra slot to make room for the heatsink (even then it's a tight fit). This card is HUGE. I have an Antec Sonata I case and had to remove the front-mounted 120mm fan to make room. No drivers I've found support hardware monitoring.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from a 6600GT. Though I wrote many more cons than pros, these are all fairly minor issues that I can easily live with. The removal of the 120mm fan only rose my case temps by about 3 degrees (celcius), and everything is still well within safety limits. Though I can't find out just what temperatures this card is running at, everything runs stable and very very fast. Highly recommended if you have a very roomy case. If you have a mid-size case, make sure you've got enough space to fit this card AND the power cable connection.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card at stock speeds.

Pros: Excellent card at stock speeds, works as advertised. Easy installation, though the fan does take up two slots but that was expected.

Cons: Don't buy if you plan on overclocking. As told already, this card has little to no overclocking potential currently. It comes with an auto-overclocking utility, but oddly enough, it auto-clocked the card DOWN from the default speeds for this GPU. Tried a mild overclock back up to stock speeds (~10 mhz increase for both core and memory) and immediately got artifacts. Might try flashing the BIOS or getting a better fan for it, but as it comes the factory there's not much you can do with it, at least not mine.

Other Thoughts: I had to wait a bit for updated drivers for the card as when I got it the only compatible ones were the ones included on the CD; ATi's own wouldn't recognize the card. This wasn't really a biggy though, and isn't an issue now anyway, so not marking the card down for it. Solid card, all in all, and the price is decent, though I'm regretting not waiting for the Sapphire version to be back in stock a little though (it was my first choice).

4 out of 5 eggsNice Card

Pros: Compare favorably with most Nvidia and ATI cards that are $100 more...

Cons: 0% overclock potential.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy if you are looking for overclock potential. But do buy if you are comfy with the stock speed and price..
