2 out of 5 eggsOverheat = bluescreen death

Pros: Worked well at first. Runs hot, not a problem at first.

Cons: Began getting blue screen of death with only load being web browsers on dual screens. Not a real load, like a graphic intensive program or game.

Other Thoughts: I found other people having temperature related problems with this card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Upgraded from a 7800GT to this awesome card. If your looking at the 9800 GTX or GTX+ Buy this instead.

Cons: Runs a little hot.

5 out of 5 eggsSmart buy for Modern Gaming

Pros: What can I say? It's fantastic, I'm upgrading from a lame 8500GT(which couldn't play any games I like above 25 FPS @1280x720). I bought it mostly for Devil may cry 4 and Crysis and some Hellgate London and resident evil 4. All perfect, unbelieveable performance(@1920x1200) from this card. I won't bore you with numbers because depending on the rest of your system your "mileage may vary", just understand that this card plays all modern games very well with AA and everything and it's not expensive.

Cons: The card is really big but mid towers and bigger won't have a problem.

Other Thoughts: I heard there are heating issues, I hope I don't run into them but I plan to increase fan speed anyway just in case, and I'd recommend everyone else follow suite until ATI makes it Automatic.

5 out of 5 eggsThe best card for the price

Pros: The overall power of this card is fantastic. The money I would not choose any other card. Runs Crysis with no problems. Every other game runs like a dream.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is by far the best card for the money.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Screaming fast card, plays Crysis on high settings and highest resolution, just like any other game. There are no settings to high right now. Played the Witcher and loading times are minimal though settings are on the highest possible leve. No lagging no bad FPS, excellent card

Cons: The card is more quiet than its NVIDIA competitors but at a very high cost. It gets extremely hot when it idles. Once it is at high performance, however, it really matches its Geforce competitors. As mentioned before changing the fan speed takes care of this problem.

Other Thoughts: Cheap and GREAT

5 out of 5 eggsIn response to the bad review

Pros: Upping the fan speed from default 23% to 40% hardly adds any noise at all, and fixes the heat issue. My card Idles at 37c and never goes above 50c. Thats very cool for a video card. Anyone who says it's "loud" and thinks the cooling solution is inadequate is just plain wrong.

Cons: 8.7 catalyst driver works perfectly fine, and the 8.7 beta fixed most of the initial problems . Nvidia has had terrible drivers at the release of their products too, it's something both ATI AND Nvidia need to do better on. You sound like an nvidia fan boy to me. Remember the problems with the initial release of the 8800 series?

Other Thoughts: If you are having heat and noise issues, its likely to be user error. Putting the fan at 40% like I stated above will fix it. This one very small problem is so easy to fix. And should not result in taking two stars off. This is a great card period.

5 out of 5 eggs4850 over 4870?

Pros: Very easy setup, very tight fit in my micro atx but the 450 W max power supply is enough juice to keep this working along with and AMD 64 2.4ghz, 2 gigs corsair pc 6400 and a Gigabyte 780g micro atx board. Really doesn't like it when I put the case on so I might have to drill some holes for more air. Getting 40-50 fps in age of conan on highest settings (1280x720).

Cons: large, make use of the 6 pin adapter if your power supply doesn't have one already. I have it connected to two different leads from the p.s. and it has not failed or shutdown in the 3-4 days i have had it hooked up.

Other Thoughts: if you want top of the line and have crossfire capatible slots...go with the 4870 and you will be happier when you can finally afford another. But this board rocks for lan computer with my micro atx.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Greating performing card when it works.

Cons: Overheats and keeps crashing.
Manually setting the fan at high speed fixes the overheat problem with added fan noise.

My Samsung 3D TV disables the 3D option with this card, it works fine with NVidia 8800GT.

While playing Lord Of the Rings online, the screen keeps going blank. Check lotro forum where several others have these problems.

Other Thoughts: ATI needs to get their quality control way up.

I consider the entire product line defective. Out of the box it crashes due to overheating. If they fix heating by increasing the fan speed then it becomes a noisy video card. What it needs out of the box is better drivers and better cooling solution.

Cons: None, Wish I gotten this GPU frist.

Other Thoughts: Who said you got to spend more money to get something. Tell them the world of Technology is costantly changing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Really nice card, it plays almost every game on max. Crysis is very playable (30FPS) on all High DX10. Love that it supports HDMI through adapter and gets audio through PCI Express slot. I prefer single slot design as it takes less space and my case has good air flow so I don't worry about the heat being dumped into it.

Cons: The only problem I have is that ATi needs to get to work on their drivers. Had tons of trouble getting proper performance after millions of driver re-installs. Even still the card could be so much better if proper drivers were released.

Other Thoughts: Everyone complains about the heat, which it does generate a lot, but it's not a problem. The card is designed to run at these temperature and the fan is great, I have never heard a single slot card that is this quiet! If you really are worried about the temps that the card can reach, just mod a XML file to raise the fan speed. (You can find guides to doing this all over the internet) I run my fan at 75% while gaming and the card runs at a cool 50C. When out of the game I just switch to the normal profile and the fan is silent again.
