5 out of 5 eggsit's cheap

Pros: Good bang for your buck if you get a rebate....hopefully mine will someday get here. Got it stable at 695 clock.... don't mess with the RAM though...Honestly though, it runs Crysis Warhead, Wars pretty well on 1900X 1200 (albeit not many effects)...but see below, I have a CPU and RAM that makes up for it a bit...Frontlines Fuels of War and BF2142 just look ridiculous in above resolution. BIOSHOCK? awesome BF2??? Well, my favorite game of all time (minus Xcom, MOHAA and Scorched Earth) ... well BF2 got big white splotches on it. I wanted to cry.....I could switch back to onboard chip on mobo if I wanted to REALLY play it.... I tried debugging the game... but no go......

So all in all I'd say decent card... will play new games pretty well on small monitors like nothing, and with some effort at higher resolutions... but it is possible.

One last pro??? my birthday is next month! So I'll come up with some excuse to buy a 4870 and sell this thing

Cons: it's not a 4870, or 48070X2......but for the money it's good.

Other Thoughts: If you're building a sick gaming rig, with Quad core, lots of RAM, then don't be cheap like me and buy this card... go all out. Now I've watercooled my CPU (Phenom 9600 BE at 2.7).... and I'm TOTALLy bottlenecked because I was a cheapskate on the vid card. Plus, did you notice the memory is only DDR2... or that the 4670 is like the same price.

1 out of 5 eggsCareful if you use Vista

Pros: Good card in theory. Not if you use Vista.

Cons: As of Dec 20, a normal ATI Radeon driver is not available at the AMD ATI web site for the 4650 running on either Vista 64-bit or 32-bit OS. Only a hotfix I had to google for enabled me to use the 4650.

Other Thoughts: This is extraordinarily poor support for a card that has been released for several months. Get a 4670 instead if you have Vista, Radeon drivers are available for it (I have one also). Wish I'd been warned, will look much more skeptically at ATI products in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsRadeon HD 4650 a solid choice for graphics

Pros: Excellent overall performer for the price, with 1GB of GDDR2 memory, the HD 4650 will run games at the highest settings without breaking a sweat. Has both HDMI and DVI outputs for HDTV connectivity.

The fan is not noisy as others have stated, I can't hear it at all, but then again I run a Zalman CNPS9700 aftermarket cooler at the highest RPM, which may be drowning out the fan noise. Either way, don't base your decision to buy a solid graphics card on the fan noise, that's ridiculous.

Scores a 5.4 for 3D graphics and 5.3 for desktop acceleration within Vista64. Scores may vary depending on how you configure the card.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: If you run Vista64, drivers are available from Ati.amd.com - select "Vista32" as your OS and you'll be presented with both the 32 and 64-bit drivers. If you select Vista64 as your OS from the drop-down menu, the 4650 card will not show up.

4 out of 5 eggsnice video card

Pros: 1GB; plays all new games on highest settings no problem at all. NO heat issues, and NO loud noise.

Cons: GDDR2 only. No 64 bit vista drivers on ati site (had to dl the hotfix).

3 out of 5 eggsNoise Fan

Pros: No need extra power. It works as it supposed to and the price is unbeatable. 1GB DDR2 is the plus. Card is cool with very high loaing.

Cons: Fan is noisy. What most people complain about is true. The fan control by ATI catalyst control center utility software does not work at all. AMD may support HD 4650 in the future but so far I got no luck. Very little info on gigabyte website. You cannot find the place to download utility software or driver on their website. If you need to upgrade driver, you have to check with AMD.

Other Thoughts: I wonder if we should have the fan replaced by a quiet one. Now my PC case is opened, so I can hear the noise obviously. Besides, the motherboard I am using is ASUS P5Q pro, no problems with installation and working fine. Just the EPU engine does not recognize this card so I wonder maybe I still waste some energy due to incompatibility.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: nice for the price. worked as it suposed to. didn`t need a power cable which is a +.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Doesn`t like over clocking but I found out the best thing to do is to go to the auto tuner and it will do the job then you can tweek it a little more.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh pitch noise

Pros: Good price for the money. Bought it for the built-in HDMI

Cons: Too noisy, have to remove the fan and use my own silent heat sink to eliminate the noise.
