4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine under Linux (ubuntu, puppy, etc)

Pros: I made modification to Dell SC420 so this card can be used. Card allows me to use some eye candy features in ubuntu and mint linux. I am not a gamer, I got this to reduce CPU load since I was using integrated motherboard's video.

Cons: Messed up audio settings but I was able to fix.
To make Google Earth not flicker so much, I had to reduce the advance visual settings in my operating system.

Other Thoughts: The video card is fine for my situation.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for HTPC

Pros: - Runs solid and cool (enough) 24/7.
- Takes up very little space compared to other fanless video cards.
- Great performance with Media Center and Blu-ray.

Cons: My rebate has been "processing" for over three months.

Other Thoughts: I have tried several different cheap video cards and this has been by far the most reliable. In the past I have experienced video card/driver related crashes and reboots but have not had a single one since installing this card more than three months ago.

5 out of 5 eggsNice graphics card

Pros: Quiet (no fan), nice output quality from s-video and component video (I'm using it for my PVR to a SDTV).

Cons: Gets a little warm but, with a little case airflow, got that down to 55 C even when the GPU is pegged at 100% usage.

Other Thoughts: In order to get component video out of the supplied dongle, the switch on the dongle must be set to "HDTV" even thought the component video is connected to a SDTV no an HDTV. Maybe that is obvious, maybe in the instructions but...

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for Price

Pros: Price. Fanless. Compatible with my HP Pavillion a1310n motherboard, AMD Athalon 64 3700+ 2.19ghz Windows XP Media center SP3. Card has done well for my needs, I do a fair amount of digital photo and home movie creation.

Cons: The only Con is the audio switching issue at install. Not a big deal just a pain. In my case it was a time consuming pain.(read other thoughts below) The disk that came with the video card did not have the compatible ATI drivers for XP media center SP3. This was not a big deal. I just went to ATI's web site and downloaded the latest software and drivers

Other Thoughts: There was an insert in the manual stating that this card has built-in 5.1 HD Sound and that IT WILL SET ITSELF AS YOUR DEFAULT AUDIO DEVICE. The insert also gave the following instructions to fix the problem......go to the Control Panel>Sound and Audio devices > change the default audio device back to your built-in audio. However when I went to do this my built in audio drivers did not show up. There was no selection for the onboard audio. After some digging I discovered that my motherboard bios had set the video card as the default audio device and had disabled my onboard audio. I had to go into the motherboard bios and set the onboard audio back to enable. Then I followed the directions on the insert and my onboard audio now showed up in the drop down menu. Problem solved. If you have the same issue check your motherboard bios to see if your onboard audio was disabled.

4 out of 5 eggsCCTV NVR

Pros: It speeds the system up.

Cons: Offers a TV out, but ATI doesn't seem to let you put a mirror image on TV or even a second display. It is either the TV or just the monitor.

Other Thoughts: It gets a little hotter than seems necessary. Might need an extra PCI fan.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with AMD X2 3800+

Pros: Low priced and silent since no fan to add to the noise; works great for my Acer 22" LCD. Excellent price after rebate and free ship at the time.

Cons: Warranty is not lifetime; drivers only work for XP and Vista so if wanted to use in an older Win2000 PC would be "sorry, no can do".

Other Thoughts: Installed in an ASRock 939Dual-VSTA MB system with WD 160gb SATAII and 2 GB of Kingston dual channel ValueRAM, with AMD X2 3800+ with Antec 500W PSU with VISTA 64bit. Rear Panel Antec 120mm self thermostat fan that runs silent and keeps the unit cool: will see how it runs in the hotter summer temp.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: -Better than on board
-Fantastic price
-Silent
-Quality Built

Cons: None at all if you used it for what it's for. Not for gaming obviously!!

Side note: I dislike ATI Catalyst (They need to get rid of that software)

Other Thoughts: I am using this in a business computer for my boss just to help it run faster on his 22 inch wide screen. It does the job great, as other say it runs Vista's Aero just fine.

For a few extra buck grab this card to speed up that PC!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: Excellent value, easy install, great features, HDMI output

Cons: Passive cooling (fanless) only but doesn't seem to be a problem (can be a pros since it is silent)

Other Thoughts: The driver will install another audio device. If you lose system sound after installation, go to the Sound under Control Panel and select your system sound device (other than the ATI sound device)

5 out of 5 eggsSilent, cheap, and runs Aero perfectly.

Pros: No noisy fan. Price! The video card is fanless but you still get a 700MHz core clock. It only takes 1 slot and does not get too hot. It gets a Windows Experience Index of 4.5 for aero graphics and 4.6 for gaming graphics. Has been running pretty much 24/7 since I got it; so far no problems.

Cons: Do not get it for games. The older X800 GTO it replaced outperforms this card. My overall Windows Score went down (used to get 5.9/4.9 with the X800 GTO). That is the price you pay when you go fan-less though; cannot hold it against the card since being fan-less was the main reason I got it.

Other Thoughts: Regarding the review below: This card has built-in 5.1 HD Sound that can be used with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter. IT WILL SET ITSELF AS YOUR DEFAULT AUDIO DEVICE after you install the Catalyst drivers. However, it is an easy fix: Just go to the Control Panel>Sound and change the default audio device back to your built-in audio, that's it. I personally did not have any problems since my on-board HD audio automatically detected I had speakers plugged-in.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent card for the price

Pros: Using a dual boot system, and running VISTA from an external hdd enclosure with a SATA connection. There was a problem installing the Catalyst Control Center but when I downloaded the latest driver from ATI it ran fine in XP. Also this ATI driver installs a default driver for digital sound ouput. To re-enable system sound go to Sounds in Control Panel, click on the Audio tab and re-choose your sound card driver rather than the ATI device. There was an insert in the install manual that explained this. Also it asks that NetFrameworks be installed from MS to run the card properly.
Seems to run fine, but I'm not a game player. There appeared to be no problems installing this card in VISTA and no changes had to be made. DirectX 10 was installed when I looked.

Cons: Unless one is diligent and pursues the difficulty of trying to upgrade the graphics driver by going to ATI the Catalyst Control Center will not be available and adjustments to contrast, brightness, gamma, video acceleration, etc will not be available. An error kept coming up about being able to load a driver before I went to ATI. Some techs just assume one would do this but someone less experienced will just get annoyed.

Other Thoughts: It would be helpful to write at the beginning of the installation manual what glitches could be avoided by following appropriate directions instead of having to sleuth them out for one's self.
