NVIDIA's ninth generation series of graphics cards brings cutting edge technology and advanced capabilities together for best-in-class performance. The 9600GT is the solution for all your graphic needs. It’s Microsoft Vista ready and equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 interface for the most up-to-date system. Its NVIDIA SLI technology doubles your performance range letting you use two graphics cards in parallel.

Support for DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 2.0 and NVIDIA's PureVideoHD technologies are also built in. The card's core clock runs at 700MHz, relieving your CPU of pixel crunching duty. Data surges through the 9600's 64 stream processors which are fed by 512MB of 256-bit 1800MHz GDDR3 memory. Twin dual-linked DVI and 400 MHz RAMDAC lets you display 2560 x 1600 resolution video and graphics on even the largest monitors.

The signal can also be output to other video displays via the S-Video and HDTV connectors for maximum flexibility. The 9600GT delivers fluid frame rates and HD video with brilliant clarity to give you an entertainment experience that is easy on the eyes – as well as on the wallet.

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with GigaThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg PCI Express 2.0 Interface The PCI Express 2.0 interface delivers an ultra-high data rate of up to 16 GB/s, and is backward compatible with PCI Express x16 (PCI-E 1.0), so you can upgrade the graphics of your existing system with the Gigabyte GV-N96TZL-512I.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2X the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Had 2 of these in SLI. For the price, they were fast and could handle all modern games with ease, despite being only 512MB.

Cons: Had some driver issues with WoW, so I didn't SLI them for that game for a while. CoD and Crysis played very well on them.

Other Thoughts: I had an AMD duo 3.6Ghz on this build.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated

Pros: Zalman cooler, price, small size, quiet.

Cons: Single card not quite powerful enough for serious gaming at high resolutions. 2 in SLI about the same price/performance as my single GTX 260. Slight edge to the SLI setup for Source games like L4D2 with FSAA/Aniso. BUT some games don't scale as well as others with SLI.

Other Thoughts: If you want to have an SLI setup with the price/performance of a single mid-range card, these are perfect. I always wanted to play with an SLI setup and I'm very happy with the results. If you're upgrading from an 8800-series card, you'll be happy.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome SLI

Pros: Factory OC, Zalman cooler, price/performance, very quiet. This card is NOT, NOT huge, it's SMALL compared to my 8800GTX and GTX260. Short card, 2 slots deep. HDCP compliant, HDMI port.

Cons: No RAM heatsinks? Makes me a bit nervous but they claim the Zalman cools them well enough. I like to manually set fan speed with software, these don't seem to allow that.

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these to replace a single 8800GTX in my office machine. (E8400 on Striker Extreme). Performance at 1680x1050 with 16X FSAA and 16X ANISO almost 30FPS better on L4D2!!! Amazing. Without FSAA and ANISO, they are very close in speed. I haven't compared yet to the GTX260, I have a feeling that it will be closer and GTX260 around the same price as 2 of these, but SLI is COOL!

5 out of 5 eggs9600GT

Pros: This card is shorter than reference design, it makes installation a breeze even in SLI with a HD cage in the way in my case!
Runs approx. 7 degrees Celsius cooler than my other reference 9600GT card!

Cons: No fan control, but it's quieter and cooler than my reference 9600GT with the fan at 100%, so not really a Con.
Hot air is not exhausted out of the case.

Other Thoughts: I'm running this card in SLI with my other 9600GT from EVGA (reference design) and it just worked out of the box. Couldn't ask for more! I'll gladly accept a Zalman quality 2-slot cooler for the extra cooling it provides over the reference cooler! And quieter to boot!
Note for some people, it does not have a Dual DVI interface, make sure you are not looking for one.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-up

Pros: As a follow-up to my previous review:

With this Gigabyte GeForce 9600 GT graphics card, I am able to play Fallout 3 on High very smoothly. Previously, with the onboard 6150 SE, FO3 was virtually unplayable on Low, so I am very happy.

This, plus a new 500W power supply converted my $300 PC into a gaming machine!

Windows 7 rates the graphics card performance at 6.0 for both the "Graphics" and "Gaming graphics" categories.

Cons: No more than what I said previously.

Other Thoughts: My $20 rebate for this graphics card has been approved, now the 8-10 week wait for the Visa prepaid card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Much better performance than the integrated 6150 SE gfx card in my $300 computer (duh). After being unable to play Race Driver GRID on the LOWEST settings (~3 fps), installing the 9600 GT I was able to run it smoothly with Level 8 anti-aliasing. Installing the card and the drivers on Win 7 x64 were easy peasy. Dual inputs (SVGA and HDMI) to my HDTV. Yeah, both to my TV. Why? I ran into and issue with the HDMI, see cons...

Cons: The HDMI out to my HDTV is very crisp, when I can see it. If the TV is on when I turn on the computer, it displays bootup fine but the screen starts flickering at 1-2 sec intervals as soon as I log on. After a while it'll go black for good. So I plugged in the SVGA to the PC input on the TV (with HDMI still in), switched to the PC input, set up dual view monitors with the TV's inputs. It seems that the HDMI display only works if I am on the PC input, I unplug and replug the HDMI cable, and switch back to the HDMI input. This might be the card, this might be the cable, and this might be the TV. The cable has high reviews here on Newegg, and the TV has this problem with all three HDMI inputs, so idk anymore.

Also, the SVGA out gets white interference lines. It seems to be luck of the draw on the intensity each time I restart the computer. Nothing much I can do about this since it's the computer's AC that is causing this.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great card for the price. Not top of the line by ANY means, but much better than stock. Also, be sure to supply enough power to it! I ended up needing a new power supply as the 250W that came with my cheap computer was barely enough to run the bare basics. I'd recommend this to those who need a cheaper upgrade than the $200+ cards that are available now.

Oh, and the rebate helps too!

3 out of 5 eggsAvg Video Card.

Pros: 80 bucks for a 256bit/PCI-E w SLI is nice. Not as loud as everyone says. its acceptable IMO. Size is normal IMO. as long as you dont have a Slim case u r ok.
HDMI + Digital + Analog connection is nice.

Cons: Cant run WoW at best settings at 60 fps; FPS drops- Works ok at avg settings. 45-60 fps. 30 FPS n Below if you do 25 raids on avg.
Would suggest paying 50 bucks more if you plan on doing Shooter games. Have to play at LOW settings for Shooter games IMO.

Other Thoughts: Q8300 chip.
4 gig of OCZ ram.
500Watt PWS.
Vista 64bit.
Not OC ing. just stock.

Good for avg gamers. who do not mind avg shading, FPS, and colors. Cant get 30FPS at WoW at best. not even going to try higher demanding games.

3 Eggs cause it was bit of a let down. it said core memory was Over clocked to 700mhz. pffft. my old ATI 3870 runs better than this.

Min Power req is 400watts. (used 500watt on this build)
Fits perfect into my Dell mini tower. or Reg ATX case fine.
I can hear video card while not running anything but IE.
