NVIDIA's ninth generation series of graphics cards brings cutting edge technology and advanced capabilities together for best-in-class performance. The 9600GT is the solution for all your graphic needs. It’s Microsoft Vista ready and equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 interface for the most up-to-date system. Its NVIDIA SLI technology doubles your performance range letting you use two graphics cards in parallel.

Support for DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 2.0 and NVIDIA's PureVideoHD technologies are also built in. The card's core clock runs at 650MHz, relieving your CPU of pixel crunching duty. Data surges through the 9600's 64 stream processors which are fed by 512MB of 256-bit 1800MHz GDDR3 memory. Twin dual-linked DVI and 400 MHz RAMDAC lets you display 2560 x 1600 resolution video and graphics on even the largest monitors.

The signal can also be output to other video displays via the S-Video and HDTV connectors for maximum flexibility. The 9600GT delivers fluid frame rates and HD video with brilliant clarity to give you an entertainment experience that is easy on the eyes – as well as on the wallet.

  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card but BIG

Pros: Quiet..duh, good quality. Does a nice job for my HTPC but not sure how it would be for gaming.

Cons: It's a big one (needed to knock down an egg for that). I need needed to bet some right angle SATA connects for the hard drive that was in front of it. May be a problem in some cases. My system details are below.

Other Thoughts: Antec P150 Case
Antec 620W - PSU
Asus P7P550 Pro; Intel i5-750
Corsair 8GB 1333-DDR3 (CMX8GX3M4A1333C9)
GIGABYTE GeForce 9600 GT 512MB Silent (GV-N96TSL-512I)
CoolMaster Hyper TX3 with Nexus 92mm fan

3 out of 5 eggsVery quiet, but having issues a couple of months in

Pros: this card is VERY quiet (obviously, no fan), and initial worked very well in my HTPC. Bluray support was excellent.

Cons: The card always seemed to have periodic issues with my 73'' Projection TV and would stop displaying. I could always fix it by hooking it up to a regular monitor, reducing the resolution to 720p and then hooking it back to my TV. Now, a few months in, the card just hangs on any display after being booted up. :( Have tried many drivers with no luck.......

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Passive Cooling

Pros: Silent. Native HDMI Output/DVI/VGA. SPDIF cable for Audio over HDMI. No problem with Blu-Ray at 1080P. Fits & runs cool in Antec THREE HUNDRED or NINE HUNDRED chassis. SLI Mode in Windows 7 64 Bit worked flawlessly.

Cons: Price is just OK. Heat sink fins are a little flimsy, and protrude about 3/4" outside the back of the chassis, through the slot. In SLI, not much room for any other card.

Other Thoughts: I still gave this card 5 stars, because it is one of the only passively cooled models currently including Native HDMI, and a pass thru for HDMI Audio. It would be great if there were more current SILENT choices beyond the 9600 GT, and 9800 GT series, but SLI still gets the performance close to current single gaming cards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

Pros: No fan!! Finally someone designed a passive heat sink that works properly in a tower case rather than specifically for a desktop! The innovative design has cutouts on the metal bar that holds the card against the case in order to allow heat from the heatsink to pour outside the box

Cons: takes two card slots _ thats the price you pay for quiet

Other Thoughts: comes with software that allows you to monitor card thermals and loading! I ran full HD video with this card and it barely hit 20% loading and the temp only rose a few degrees

5 out of 5 eggsEgggcellent Card

Pros: I needed to get a new card for my daughter's computer in our living room. That and my wife's requirement for silence led me to consider this card. Since we mostly only do web stuff and light games I decided to try this card. What a wonderful surprise I had. The install was a piece of cake with no problems, the graphics are awesome, and it's absolutely silent.

Temp idles at around the 50C mark with it going up to 57 or 58 playing a MMO, and this is without a fan blowing on it.

Cons: A bit pricey for a 9600, but the quite is well worth it.

Other Thoughts: This card was used to replace an ATI Radeon card that I could never get to work properly. I would definitely buy this card again if I needed another silent card.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Card

Pros: Best bang for the buck in my opinion. Installed no problem, well almost-see con's, and fired up with the latest driver from the website. SLI'd 2 of them and of what a difference from my two 7950's which were amazing.

Cons: Bigger in person than on the website. I had to install a 90 degree SATA just to get the second one to clear, and it just did, and that is more of MB problem but most SATA's are in that area of the MB that I've seen. This card is the whole width of my ATX board so be prepared to rearrange stuff for fit.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 5eggs and i deserves it. I have an Antec 900 case and i got them in without damage and the performance is insane! I run FEAR2 on max and the cards aren't even breaking a sweat. can't wait to run GTA4 but that pile keeps crashing. but when it runs it looks awesome!

5 out of 5 eggsGood fanless card

Pros: I really like this card. Its fanless!! I am running linux, so i dont play games outside nexuiz. It does play nexuiz on high to ultimate depending on the map quite nicely though.

Cons: None i can think of except that it does create some coil whine when framrates are high. 90-100 is not that bad, but with 3d testing utilities such as glxgears, it can get really annoying. the good thing is that my headphones block high pitched noises very well

Other Thoughts: it is 75c after quickly switching out of nexuiz midgame. I moved a noctua fan from my cpu cooler to the video card, problem solved. now it can overclock to 700 and 1000 mhz, core and memory respectively quite easily. i wouldn't try that without a fan though.
