Pros: -Nice graphics card. Runs most games very well on high settings.

*Sent in for RMA* only reason it gets 3 eggs

Cons: Burned out after one and a half years. Not overclocked.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Amazing

Pros: The car is very fast. I run Battlefield BC2 on full settings (includes VSYNC and HBOA) in 1920x1080 and I have between 35-70fps, the low end being when there are large explosions and full screen action. Most of the gameplay is about 50fps. Car is great!

Cons: Wish the card was DirectX 11, but you cant win them all.

Other Thoughts: For the price this card will beat anything out there.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Warranty

Pros: Just got this card in. I had a GTX 280 for about 1yr and it died. Called Gigabyte, filled out the rma form, sent it back and in 2 weeks I had a 285 for replacement. Only hassel was having to use an older card till I got this one in.

Cons: Don't know with this one yet. The 280 did get a little warm and might have contributed to it's failure, but I am going to add another case fan to help with that. I am also considering manually setting the fan speed to 90%. With a 3yr warranty though, I'm not worried.

5 out of 5 eggsNot a defective card...

Pros: Monstrously powerful card. Still regarded as a very welcomed and recommended for any gamer. If you're looking for a card to use in Vista or XP and DX11 isn't on your "I need this now" list, the 285 is your calling. :D

Cons: No DX11 capability in the slightest. Hot. Power Hog of the GTX 200 series. Basic cons here...

Other Thoughts: The card isn't defective if it's shown to be running at the lower clocks... XD It's a power saving state so it's not running up your PSU for the full 205 watts that it needs.

Pay no attention to the person who gave it one egg because he didn't know it had a power saving state and down-clocks because of it.

This card is fantastic if you use Windows XP still

1 out of 5 eggsMaybe issues

Pros: The specs are awesome.

Cons: I guess this card must be defective. Gigabyte's own EasyTune 6 that comes with the X58A mb tells me that the graphics are starting at Core 300 MHz, Memory 100 MHz and Shader 600 MHz. This is WAY low for what it should be. I opened a ticket with Gigabyte because I don't get this at all. The card should already be running at what it's rated for without me having to contact them and find out what the hell is going on, their own tool shows this running like a cheap card from 1995. I shouldn't have to tweek or "overclock" a graphics card to be at its own specs. All updated drivers.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte X58A UD3R motherboard
12 GB Corsair SMS3 1600 ram
Does the rest really matter much?

5 out of 5 eggsGTX285

Pros: I have been running a GTX285 as my main card, with a 8800GTS as my physx card for well over 1.5yrs now, with not a single issue, and great gaming performance. Some corrections to the post below me, that seriously need to be added to give people the proper information. See below.

Cons: None. See below.

Other Thoughts: First off, You DO NOT need to dump Win XP to be able to run this card. You can freely run WinXP/Vista/Win7, as you wish.

Next. NO, updating the driver for the card too an updated driver from the Nvidia website, or any site, WILL NOT make this card DX11 capable. The DX is a feature of the GPU, not the driver. So updating the driver, will still make this card DX10.

Last. NO, updating the driver, WILL NOT make the card Shader Model 5.0. Again, a feature/limitation of the GPU, and updating the driver will still keep the card at Shader Model 4.0.

All in all, the GTX285 is a great card, and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat, but for the money, you are 100% better off grabbing a GTX460, it will smoke this card without even blinking.

For the rookie posters and PC noobs, please do not post incorrect information if you aren't 110% sure it is correct. In the end you wind up causing someone to make an ill-advised purchase by posting incorrect information.

5 out of 5 eggsGTX 285 Video Card

Pros: Attention to all Autodesk Revit user: please seriously consider buying this video card!!
I used to have (2) video cards with 256 Mb on each. They were running on 128 bits.
This card has 1 Gb of memory and runs on 512 bits.
With my previous video card, it was taking me somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes to render a specific view.
Once I put this video card - 10 minutes and it was done!!!!
This is a must have to Revit users.
It worked very well for me.
Even though the specification say DirectX10, when you upgrade the driver out of Nvidia website, it installs the DirectX11. And I think that gives you Shader Model 5, right???
This card is very cheap for the performance it does.
Be sure to measure the free space inside your tower to be sure it will fit.

Cons: You cannot upgrade to this video card and keep your windows XP. You have to upgrade to Windows 7. You will not regret doing that.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had bought and installed this video card when I got my computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Product

Pros: This card has been running very well since purchase and 6 degrees cooler then a VGA card I am also running in tri/sli. From this standpoint I decided to buy another which I did in Oct. 2010.

Cons: 0

Other Thoughts: My BFG card had problems after 16 months of running 24/7 and it was returned to me as they went oob, so I decided to try Gigabyte for the first time. So far I am not disappointed and have the warranty for relief.
