WOW
- Pros: nice looking, worked, easy to install.
- Cons: WILL NOT WORK IN WINDOWS 7!
- Other Thoughts: Wih it did!!!
Doubled AGP benchmark
- Pros: Works Great, after driver fix below. Old card was Radeon 9800 Pro, 128 meg memory, which benchmarked with 3DMark03 at 7469 marks. New Gigabyte 4650 on same PC made 13896 marks. Almost double. Version 2 of card, which I got, has 4 pin power connect, not 6 pin.
- Cons: Driver installation was a real pain. Use the Gigabyte driver CD, AFTER removing old ATI drivers completely. But 2 of the new audio drivers caused problems, and kept CPU cycles up at 70%. Trick is to disable these 2 drivers, but not delete them, then things work great. Disable the "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Def Audio", and the "AMD/ATI HDMI Audio Driver". Use Device Manager in Control Panel. Right click on driver to disable. I do not use the Gigabyte 4650 HDMI port, so this worked for me. Note this was on a Win XP SP3 system. Fix the drivers and you have a great card!
- Other Thoughts: Driver install issues almost cost Gigabyte an egg. But I'm happy with my new benchmark. Motherboard is MSI K8N Neo2. Athlon 64 4000+ CPU.
Good AGP card
- Pros: Works fine. Great upgrade for an older system!
- Cons: As other reviewer said, the HDMI port is tight and the cable boot needed to be cut down for it to fit. Card takes up the upper PCI slot on my Intel board so I had to lose my firewire card (no big deal).
- Other Thoughts: Had trouble downloading latest driver from ATI, so stayed with the driver that was on the disc. New Egg specs mentioned a 6 pin power connection, and the card did not come with the shown adapter. No matter, my PS has a 6 pin connecter, but didn't need it! Power to the card is supplied by a 4 pin molex connection.
