Additionally, this card incorporates Gigabyte Ultra Durable VGA and Silent Cell technologies to run cooler, quieter and more stable under intensive 3D gaming load.

  • newegg Silent Cell Gigabyte’s state-of-the-art Silent-Cell Cooling Technology adopts a series of crimping layered fins with aluminum nodes. Thanks to proprietary cell-division thermal architecture and ultra-huge pure copper base with 3 heat pipes, Silent Cell is able to cool down the GPU up to 18°C more than by using an active fan cooling design. In addition, Silent-Cell cooler module utilizes the precision process to deliver zero-interval combination between heat pipe and fins, enhancing the overall cooling capability without any compromise from its material characteristic.
  • newegg Ultra Durable VGA (UDV) Gigabyte’s UDV board employs high quality components including 2 oz Copper PCB, 1st tier memory, Japanese solid capacitors, ferrite core chokes and lower RDS (on) MOSFET, resulting in 5% - 10% lower GPU temperature, 10%~30% better overclocking capability and 10%~30% less power switching loss.
  • newegg NVIDIA PhysX Technology NVIDIA PhysX technology enables a totally new class of physical gaming interaction for a more dynamic and realistic experience.
  • newegg NVIDIA CUDA Technology CUDA technology unlocks the power of the GPU’s processor cores to accelerate the most demanding tasks such as video transcoding, physics simulation, ray tracing, and more, delivering incredible performance improvements over traditional CPUs. The CUDA technology has already been adopted by thousands of programmers to speed up those performance hungry computing applications.
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology SLI delivers up to 2x the performance of a single GPU configuration for unequaled gaming experiences by allowing two graphics cards to run in parallel. The must-have feature for performance PCI Express graphics, SLI dramatically scales performance on today’s hottest games.

3 out of 5 eggsa bit long

Pros: Quiet. Works fine.

Cons: takes two slots, and way long. On a microATX board, it extends beyond the board by perhaps half an inch. If your drive bay is flush with the board as in my case, you end up not being able use the bay. I worked around it, but wish the board would not extend beyond microATX dimensions. Two starts off for that.

Other Thoughts: The price was right.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card!

Pros: This card is awesome! I have been utilizing it more than some games do. I run folding@home on it to utilize CUDA processing. This pegs the GPU at ~100% for days/weeks at a time. The temps never get above 50s Celsius.

Cons: Size - but you really can't say that since you are sacrificing fan noise.

Other Thoughts: I have 4 fans (1 intake and 3 exhaust) in a well-ventilated case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for th price

Pros: -Works well under ubuntu 10.04
-Not so expencive price
-Looks good

Cons: -Runs a little warm 37c at idle on air (doesn't matter for me because it's water cooled
-Huge! seriously this thing almost didn't fit in a full size AXT case

Other Thoughts: Bout this to replace an 9600gt that failed after time and i feel like it was a great deal for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte in general

Pros: Good performance

Cons: Died,RMAed it, got it back ran till it warmed up then died

Other Thoughts: I bought a gigabyte motherboard and video card worked for a few months. Sent them back telling gigabyte the motherboard worked with another video card but would not work with their 9800 card. Got them back and same problem. GIGABYTE really needs to work on thier warranty repairs. It may be time to switch manufactures.

5 out of 5 eggsBest deal

Pros: This card is dead silent and was a snap to install. Dropped card in, installed drivers, restarted and was done (vista). I was reading an article that compared this card to an ATI card stating that this card really blew away the competition the more you threw at it. Boy were they right, I maxed out all settings to Ultra and the FPS never dipped, temps rose slightly but still reasonable.

Cons: Card seems to run a little hotter than advertised, but 9800's always do

Other Thoughts: Card runs around 58c on full load. Card is 257mm which converts to 10.11 inches. This card will most likely run off of your motherboard so make sure that there are no cable or plugs in the way that would interfer with a proper instal. Worth every penny.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Great card, it's held up great against high temp and has handled any game I've thrown at it so far. Of course, I have two of them running SLI... But still! Also, it's Silent!

Cons: It's huge!!! I had to buy a full sized case to fit them, and it's still cramped.

5 out of 5 eggsBig may well be better.....

Pros: They're right--the other reviewers. IT'S HUGE!!!!! But it's also quiet, efficient, and does its job superbly. If you have the case--go for it!

Cons: Not a con for the card, but something to keep in mind. Check the location on your MB for SATA and other connectors. The size of the card, width as well as depth, may not find a comfortable home on your board. Check the cards dimensions, check your board--then buy!

Other Thoughts: None at present--will update if necessary

5 out of 5 eggslast of the full power 9800 gt's

Pros: This is the last of the full power cards, and there is a difference in performance. This one over-clocks great, just make sure it is put in a well ventilated case. A one fan case is asking for trouble. High quality components on this board. No need to for an adapter using just 1 monitor, unless using display port. Compatible with ALL versions of pci-express,(better if it is 16x or at-least 8x when using just one card). More powerful than a GTS240 with ddr5. Even the low power versions of the 9800 are.

Cons: This is going extinct. Get it before it's too late.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte makes high performance computer parts. I use a 400 watt corsair power supply with 30 amps on +12v rail and a quad core and this baby flies. I got my rebate back in 2 or 3 weeks. I picked the faster rebate option.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Silent Card

Pros: This card has functioned perfectly. I still needed good case fan air flow to keep temps down. I'm using a Scythe 120mm case fan pointed directly at the card from the side of my case. Silence is golden!

Cons: Large card, make sure you know it will fit into your case and on your Mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card!

Pros: Silent due to lack of fans. Also runs moderatly cool (55 degrees) inside a very small case. Also the software that came with it allows you to OC the card and gives you temp. readings.

Cons: Very long card, due to the size of the cooling fins. About 10-12 inches from end to end.

Other Thoughts: Check your case, I had to back the card in through the empty hard drive bays. Also check your connections for SATA if they are on the bottom of the motherboard like mine as they are against the back of the card fins.
