5 out of 5 eggsShe was a warhorse

Pros: It was easy to install, did not run very hot and served me well until just this month after 5 years she gave up the ghost.

Cons: At the time 5 years ago it was quite expensive.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could have gotten a second, just never seemed to have the money at the time and then they quit making them. Would have loved to see how it would have done in Crossfire. Just bought an XFX R9 290x and nope it serves me as well.

1 out of 5 eggsNot happy yet =(

Pros: When it worked it was nice.

Cons: Happy allot of problems from the begining. Couldn't get drivers to install. Then when I got a set installed any time I would try to update the card would no longer work. It would just become unresponsve Finally got an RMA # from Gigabyte.

Other Thoughts: I had really high hopes for ATI and Gigabyte. Gigabytes support on the phone was horendous IMO. Hope my new card is good.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Card worked and drivers installed with no issue. Decent performance for the money but I did expect a little more over my 4670.

Cons: The drivers are not very stable. I use a windows 7, 64 bit OS and a dual monitor setup. Whenever I have streaming video on my side monitor the main monitor flickers.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat price with rebate

Pros: Installed on an Asus P5B MB, 730W PS. 5870 bios upgrade is really easy. With 11.3 drivers, newer games I've tested are running great. Bulletstorm demo was flawless with max graphics. Initial "burn smell" as others, but after I left the PC on overnight, the smell was gone. Shogun 2 BONUS!!!

Cons: BFBC2 has it's issues but after many many hours of testing, I believe they are game related. This is a great card but expect to spend some time installing different versions of the drivers until you find stability. People report stability with 10.10, though I've had stability with 11.3. This card is not perfect, but none are these days.

Other Thoughts: Worth the money? Absolutely. If you're thinking about x-firing two 5770's, don't waste your time (unless you already own one). After rebate, this card is cheaper than two 5770's and you don't have to deal with x-fire issues.

4 out of 5 eggsSomething smells

Pros: Fast card.

Cons: Something smells like something is burning. Not sure if its just new hardware smell and the HSF making the smell or if it is frying.
In xfire the first card runs hotter by 10c

Other Thoughts: This can't be normal.

4 out of 5 eggsCard makes pc smell

Pros: Came with shogun 2?

Cons: There is a weird smell since installing the cards.
like when you solder something.

The did xfire and the first card goes up to 83 while the second card hovers 70ish at fullload.

Other Thoughts: Is the smell normal? How about the temps?

1 out of 5 eggscrash - crash -blue creen of death

Pros: this video card extremely suck for video and for game., freeze when playing sin of solar empire., adn when play call of duty black ops- the picture flick/blurr on smoke scene

Cons: crash, crash, and crash computer shut down and restart due to crash video, = crash when watch any video clips, movie trailer, youtube, etc. update the latest flash player -doesn't help. RMA back to manufacture - received the card back = the same problem. tried 2 diff pc - win 7 or vista = both crash and crash

Other Thoughts: dont buy this card period.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for the price now.

Pros: Solid performance. Good tool set. Keeps cool, and does not contribute overly to case heat. Runs most games are max, or close to max. Nice benchmarks.

Cons: When buying this card you will more then likely have to update the card BiOS AND the drivers. If you just update the drivers you will have little blue dots dancing across your screen at the higher resolutions.

Other Thoughts: If you are comfortable upgrading BiOS and drivers on this card it is a good purchase. If the thought of making those upgrades is unsettling I would look for a more recently released card.

4 out of 5 eggsGood so far

Pros: +Overclocks well - Running stable with GPU@905Mhz and RAM@1265Mhz with temps maxing at 52C and average around 38-40C
+Pretty quiet with fans set to 80%
+Performance in 3Dmark blows the 4670 i had before away

Cons: -Catalyst Control Center caused all kinds of problems for a while - Newest CCC of 11.2 back to 10.11 constantly caused freezing and blue screens
-Very long - Def should bear that in mind
-I hear a high pitched noise now and then. I think it's from the card. I've heard a similar sound come from my Intel SSD though so i can't be sure

Other Thoughts: Update the BIOS to F8
Go to the older downloads and get CCC 10.10 and the card runs stable and great.

Make sure the air flow to the card is good. When i installed it i unplugged a front 120mm fan and the card was at 60C stock settings until i plugged the fan back in

3 out of 5 eggsblack screen in crossfire

Pros: GV-R587UD-1GD is a very solid and dependable card when using only one card. I have a Gigabyte UD7 motherboard with the latest drivers and no problems when running any games. However - see below...

Cons: I simply cannot get two of these cards to work in crossfire. I have the F8 bios in both cards and either of them works fine when used alone. When I plug the other one in and I turn on the computer for the first time that day, I can get them crossfired and everything is roses for a long time. However, if I turn off or reboot the computer, after they have warmed, I only get to the swirling windows at the startup and then the screen goes black. The computer continues to boot into windows but I can't see what's happening on the screen. If I turn off the computer and wait a while until the computer cools down again after a few minutes, the computer will start up normally again, but since I did a hard reset to turn the computer off, I now have other windows 7 issues or OS corruption that I have to fix. I've monitored both cards temperatures when they are running and the heat averages around 38-50C with the top card a little hotter than the bottom one because of the lack of space between them

Other Thoughts: It seems that a Gigabyte GPU ought to work in a Gigabyte motherboard with no problems. Doesn't Gigabyte check out their own products compatibility?
