  • newegg Silent Cell Gigabyte’s state-of-the-art Silent-Cell Cooling Technology adopts a series of crimping layered fins with aluminum nodes. Thanks to proprietary cell-division thermal architecture and ultra-huge pure copper base with 3 heat pipes, Silent Cell is able to cool down the GPU up to 18°C more than by using an active fan cooling design. • newegg ATI Stream Technology ATI Stream technology is a set of advanced hardware and software technologies that enable AMD graphics processors (GPU), working in concert with the system’s central processor (CPU), to accelerate many applications beyond just graphics. This enables better balanced platforms capable of running demanding computing tasks faster than ever.
  • newegg ATI CrossFireX ATI CrossFireX is the ultimate multi-GPU performance gaming platform, enabling two or more discrete graphics processors to work together for boosted system performance and a breakthrough gaming experience.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Well i searched long and hard looking for a video card that would be able to keep up with most the newer games without a hefty price tag and finally decided on this one. I was looking forward to boosting my WE to a 7.1 in both graphics areas but this actually rated a 7.3 on my computer. I'm overall very happy with this card, for the price you cant beat it.

Cons: Card is pretty big.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's okay

Pros: 1.Plays HD video: works with codecs that offload to GPU, for example I had this super demanding file that simply was too much for my cpu (q6600), but now it plays smoothly and GPU load is reported at only 31%.
2.No loud fans.
3.Handles games at lower resolutions.
4.Doesn't cost much.

Cons: The card is crippled by its 128-bit memory: 5750 has noticeable hiccups when playing 3D games... up to 2 seconds of pause in some cases. Note that it doesn't happen very often. If you play at high resolutions, such as 1600 and up, you can still do it with low detail settings.

Other Thoughts: I have a fan blowing directly at it on the side of my case: I highly recommend to have at least one fan pointed at your card, just in case.
It's still winter, and I can't say how the thermals will behave in the summer. So far, 55 C in longer gaming sessions.
This card seems to be hard to find these days as it has unique value and is silent.

1 out of 5 eggsUnusable with CRT

Pros: Don't know, cannot use.

Cons: Cannot get any other refresh rate but an unusable 60Hz with 10yr old Dell P1110 CRTs.

Other Thoughts: I have some hand-me-down Dell P1110 CRTs that have no trouble doing 85Hz at 1600x1200. I have an nVidia GT240 card that drives these monitors at that rate. This new Radeon doesn't seem to want to. I've tried the driver that comes with it, a new driver from Gigabyte, with and without installing the Catalyst Control Center. I've tried changing the refresh rate from Win7-64 and from the Catalyst control center. In both cases, the only option that comes up is 60Hz - even when I check 'display refresh rates my monitor doesn't support'. I had to go to the GT240 card. Both the nVidia control panel and the Catalyst control center (and the Win7-64 device manager) detect the monitor as a 'Generic Non-PnP Monitor'. I've tried updating the monitor driver using the Win2K driver for the Dell P1110 (they are that old), but Win7 says it has better drivers and ignores them.

Why doesn't it just let me set the refresh rate to what I want? The docs say the GV-R575SL-1GI should do 1600x1200@100Hz.

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet , runs games at decent rate

Pros: Running x2 might add a 3rd , quiet and with good case ventilation run at 38-40 c idle get up to 50-55 c intensive use .
You'll need a decent size case to fit these , with passive cooler they are large

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsSilent Power

Pros: Totally silent, well built, 1GB with good mid range gaming ability. HDMI is nice for watching videos on my HDTV.

It's hard to find silent coolers that are good for much more then just watching video, but this card does a good job balancing it's features with the power to play games and other more demanding video tasks.

I have this in a Thermaltake Black Armor case and it runs about 45-48C at idle, and 55-57 under load. Pretty nice for a fanless setup.

Cons: None that I can think of. It takes up 2 slots which might become problematic of someone wants to run 2 of them in crossfire, but that's really just nit picking. It's not the "top of the line" vid card, but it doesn't carry that top of the line price tag either.

Other Thoughts: My computer runs in the bedroom, so I don't like a lot of noise where I'm trying to sleep. I wanted to convert my loud PC to a silent running system, but still be able to play games on it when I wanted to. This card fit the bill perfectly, it has the power I need to still be able to play my games, but the computer is completely silent. Now if I want to leave the PC on to download or upload something, I can't even hear it running. Seeing the monitor in standby mode is the only way I even know it's on. Newegg, as usual had the best price, cheap shipping, and it was delivered very quickly and it pristine condition. I replaced a GeForce 9600GT 1GB with this card, and I'm very happy with it. It runs 10C cooler then the GeForce, gives me better performance, and it's completely silent. This was a home run purchase for me.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: I built an affordable machine for Starcraft 2 LAN parties using this card. This computer also doubles up as my HTPC media machine for gaming on the big screen.

The computer is almost completely silent.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have plenty of airflow in your case for this card to function properly. In an Antec 300 with two stock case fans the card never exceeds 55 C, while playing Starcraft 2.

My main computer runs a 5870 and I was a little skeptical about the gaming performance, but I am more than pleasantly surprised. This card is great as well.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Gigabyte Customer Service

Pros: Quite ... reasonable video performance

Cons: My screen flickers when the audio level from hdmi changes, e.g. starting / ending youtube video. Based on my experience it could be just driver or setup issue. I tried different configurations (XP/Vista/Win7, CCC 10.5, 10.6...) before seeking help from Gigabyte Customer Service, which didn't want to help and just asked me just RMA it if I believed it's a problem. I RMA'ed it, paid the shipping, and got the same thing back without any note about what had been done. And yes, problem is still there. What's a shame.

Other Thoughts: Think twice on Gigabyte products if you feel you may need their customer service.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great if you give it some airflow

Pros: Nice big cooler. Great temps once it has good airflow.

Cons: VGA output instead of displayport. The Powercolor has displayport but I decided to go with Gigabyte to match my mobo and because of Gigabyte's great build quality (I can't comment about Powercolor's build quality due to lack of experience with that brand).

Other Thoughts: First installed in the lower, #5 slot in my GA-890FXA-UD7 Mobo and was getting temps to 102 C under load. I have a Lian Li PC-B25F so lack of case fans wasn't an issue (5 case fans).

I moved it to the #1 slot next to the NB Sink and also installed a Scythe Slot Rafter with two 80 mm fans below the card. Now it's 60C or less at 100% load and 42 C at idle! But will have to do something about those fans if I need any other expansion cards...
