2 out of 5 eggsGood cards if the fan didn't fall off

Pros: I have a pair of these in SLI and they perform fantastic at 1920x1080.

Cons: I normally don't write reviews because most everything I buy works great, but this I had to write about. I originally purchased a pair of Gigabyte GTS 250s. The problem was that a fan fell right off during use and cooked the video card to death. Thankfully Gigabyte was very kind enough to replace both cards (despite only one being dead) with two GTS 450's! That was sweet! Or so I thought.... Until just a few days ago one of the fans just fell right off during use! Again! I can understand this happening just once, but a second time? On a completely different model of video card?! I will never be buying anything that has moving parts with Gigabyte's logo slapped on the side ever again. I'm sure Gigabyte will be great about replacing these, but why? I'm worried I'll just go through something like this yet again in the future.

Also, did someone say they thought this card was quiet? They must have some pretty loud system fans. When no cards are installed, my comp is whisper quie

1 out of 5 eggsgigabyte support bites

Pros: When the card works, it works

Cons: When the card doesn't work and you have to deal with gigabyte support. "Try it in another machine" is their mantra. "Repair" means update the firmware and return a defective card to the customer. Tech support and services depts do NOT talk to each other - once support gives up on you, you're on your own with services to get an RMA #. Their online forms do not do what they say, and no one at gigabyte gives a ratzaz, nothing will change

Other Thoughts: Sent back a different GTS450 based card for "repair", returned to me with same issue, sent back for "replacement" got a refurbished piece of garbage that failed within 6 months. Now I have another identical card with the same problem. Hours of troubleshooting, trying this/that waste of time.

Buy a different brand, next time I will.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome GPU that handles most processes

Pros: Good Price
Handles Most Graphics Easily
Fan Works Well

Cons: Fan Is Loud

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant about getting this GPU because I didn't think it would stand up to my gaming standards. However, I was on a budget and decided to spend my money elsewhere and save for a better GPU in the future. But guess what, I didn't need one!

I was able to play Crysis on all VERY HIGH settings and it handled all of the graphics extremely well without crashing once. The only issue I had was with fan control and the GPU was getting very hot. I easily remedied this by downloading EVGA Precision and cranking up fan speed manually to 80%. I ran Crysis and my GPU never hit over 60 degrees C.

Random note: I once accidentally touched the top of the GPU while fiddling with a case fan while the computer was on and running. The GPU crashed and my monitor went blank. But after simply restarting my computer, everything was back to normal. I even used Crysis to make sure the GPU wouldn't choke up. But please don't try this at home!

5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte GTS450

Pros: Excellent card. Been using it for almost a year. Have been running BOINC with GPU intensive apps and gaming. Runs BF2 on my single core rig quite well at 1280x1024. The card is not really any louder than the 7800GT PCI card it replaced.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsNice item, if it worked

Pros: what pros? when it actually works, it's a nice midrange card....

Cons: 4 mo out, bccode 106 errors, fails graphic memory testing...

newegg WILL NOT warrantee, they say contact gigabyte, gigabyte REFUSED warrantee saying contact newegg

NEVER AGAIN...newegg loses another customer

Other Thoughts: when are dealers going to stop with these 'deals' they get from manufacturers that affect warrantee issues...

1 out of 5 eggsVideo Garbled

Pros: When it was working in the first 3 months, it was great.

Cons: After 3 months, garbled video, artifacts everywhere. Sent it in for RMA, received it back after 2 weeks. Worked great for another 4 months, garbled video again.

Other Thoughts: I swapped the video card back to the original eVGA cards that were in it, and just going to leave it alone with them. At least they are still running perfectly after 5 years.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This video card runs extremely well for the price. I have overclocked it to 930 Mhz Core Clock, 1860 Shader Clock, 2050 Memory Clock, all on the stock voltage. It stays extremely cool, it idles at 35 C and tops out at about 54 C; the fan is actually pretty quiet too, even when maxed.

I got this card for $90 and it was well worth the price.

Cons: None so far.

2 out of 5 eggsit couldve been a great relationship

Pros: pretty fast and very cheap for its power

Cons: died after 7 months.

thought it mightve been a game or my system, so i even reformatted. nope, installing the video drivers breaks it, and getting a new (radeon) card to work just proves that this one was busted

Other Thoughts: idk, this kinda scared me away from nvidia, but im pretty sure its just gigabyte manufacturing.
