3 out of 5 eggsdual monitor issues

Pros: Cool Looking
3 Big A$$$$$$ Fans
Beautiful movie play back

Cons: 1 - Kicks to Desktop mid game play
2 - Dual monitor does not seem to be working?
3 hours into CS Source and it will randomly kick to me to desktop. Not often but it seems like it is getting to be more often. Could be my system... but i doubt it.

Other Thoughts: You hardly notice the fans kicking in, very quiet.
Manufacturer NOTE
Dual monitors does not work
I would think it would auto detect?

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card, just not for OC

Pros: Excellent design. It remains extremely cool, even in Crossfire. I run the fans at about 70% under full load (benchmarking with FurMark) and the temps never surpassed 75C. In game, the fans never kick above 50% and the temps never exceed 65C. Runs just about any game I throw at it (I have 2 of them in Crossfire, so even BF3 runs great). OC'd from the factory, but I will touch on that in the cons...

Cons: This card is NOT GOOD FOR OVERCLOCKING. It comes "overclocked" from the factory... a whopping 15MHz. I was able to get the core clock to 955MHz without artifacts of any sorts. The memory was able to go above 1195MHz without artifacts, but I decided to lower it to 1150MHz because I didn't see any major improvements in performance. I was a little sad at the core clock speeds, knowing that my brother's 6870 was able to reach 1100MHz with overvolting, so I started doing some research on overvolting this card. That's where you run into problems...

THERE IS NO WAY TO OVERVOLT THIS CARD AT ALL. With this card being marketed as an overclock card, you would imagine that overvolting would be a cinch. But it is not even possible. So I am stuck with these poor frequencies.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I really like this card, but the inability to overvolt it really holds it back, especially when it is marketed as an overclock card. I will definitely not be going with Gigabyte for graphics anytime soon.

On an unrelated note, my Gigabyte mobo is excellent.

1 out of 5 eggsCard fried itself and gigabyte wont take returns

Pros: Card ran fine while it worked

Cons: Card shorted out and burned itself in under a year

Other Thoughts: I bought this card in march and it ran fine until it sparked and died. It was the only component that failed, so it wasn't a power surge. I had never overclocked the card either. This seems to be a common problem, leading you to believe gigabyte would cover its product defects, but instead they charge you to take it back from them. Never buy from gigabyte, their warranty and customer service are terrible.

4 out of 5 eggsamzign lil card

Pros: great card will run almost anything you throw at it on high settings at 1080p
even runs batman arkarm city on mediumeyefintiy settings (3x1080p)
runs cool and quiet if your case fans are set up properly(not always about cfm boys)

Cons: non reference design(although on newer series the wind force card are now reference)

Other Thoughts: seem to me that people who claim full tech level are the ones with problems...hmmmmmm
also you CAN get water blocks for this..the ek universal water blocks work great and you can even get a water bridge for crossfire with those!
also a couple of people need to research how crossfire works a lil
also if there is no space between your 2 cross fired cards you need to slap some fans intaking fresh air on the side of your case or fans to extract the warm air inside your case better also when you put"will run any game on high" or other such nonsense for the love put your resolution down because yeah a lot of gpus can run anything on high...@ 1024x768 ....but not many card can max out games at 6032x1080 or other such "above hd" resolutions

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic go to card, especially for OSX

Pros: This card is great for what it is and the price point. It is cheap enough with a big enough performance boost to justify upgrading a budget build that would otherwise use a 550ti or 6850, or similar card. Runs most games at acceptable levels, runs cool even when working hard, pretty quiet. For under $200 its hard to do better. Works OOB with OsX Lion. Even though the card is kinda flimsy (see cons) its pretty durable. I have used 3 of these cards in customers builds, and one in my personal build (and therefor got taken out a lot and used temporarily and used in other applications) and I have never had one break or fail in any way.

Cons: The fan shroud is kinda cheap looking/feeling. The card could use a bracket like they put on the windforce 670 to increase rigidity. The card feels kinda wobbly, like it might break when you are pushing the power connectors on. Not much of a con.

Other Thoughts: If you need a basic card but want better performance for not a lot more money, get this card. It won't disappoint.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent card

Pros: Runs everything I throw at it--my native resolution is 1680x1050, and this thing goes to maximum settings every time. Maybe slightly-less-than-maximum for a few games (Metro 2033 has been notably picky for me). Very quiet, I can't hear it running at all, which is good because I tend to do a lot of recording near my computer.

Cons: AMD drivers. Your mileage may vary, but I've had to deal with a lot of bluescreens stemming from various driver errors. I realize this is not a knock on this model of card, per se, so I've only taken off one egg, but having dealt with both sides of the coin on numerous occasions (both AMD/ATI and nVidia), I can safely say that my experience would lead me to stay away from AMD/ATI drivers when possible. Currently running an older Catalyst driver version just because it gave me far fewer errors than some of the later driver packages.

Other Thoughts: I chose this card over a year ago (at a much higher price, back then) because it was one of the few that would give me both exceptionally low noise levels as well as high performance. Nowadays, there are probably better options, but I don't regret the purchase. Probably wouldn't recommend this card to anyone looking for a new one, though.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Design all over

Pros: Fast, extremely high frame rate on Skyrim and other games when crossfired

Cons: I bought 1 of these, installed it and loved it. I thought, I sure would like a second to crossfire and that is where the troubles began. I have a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R (note the manufacturer of the motherboard) and when two of these boards are installed the bottom one blocks the airflow of the top one. Then it runs too hot and locks up your PC. I bought Bit-Fenix fans for my case, highest CFM I could find, and that worked for awhile but finally the top card gave out. I contacted Gigabyte to ask for their opinion with no avail. Got some broken response from them. Another note, ATI-Radeon in crossfire only uses the bottom video card if the application is in full screen mode so if you don't run a game in full screen mode the bottom card's only job is to block the air flow of the top card. Nice design. And furthermore, it is not a reference design so you can't get a liquid cooler for this card. I have to say really?!?

Other Thoughts: Fortunately I bought the extended warranty and had a second card. The bottom card since it was mostly inactive is still good. back to newegg you go

5 out of 5 eggsCheap and Performs

Pros: Great performance for the price, i can run everything maxed out (besides bf3, i have to turn down texture detail to high) and in my huge case, it's impossible to hear. Great card. Owned it for about 6-7 months now and i havent had any problems with it. After about 3-4 hours of gamins it can get to 65ish(Celsius) which i say is fairly good, especially compared to Nvidia's card's temps.

Cons: -Long (measure before you buy)
-Fans loud at ~75-80% and up

Other Thoughts: -AMD FX 8120 8-core 3.1ghz (stock now, hoping for ~3.8)
-GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD Radeon 6870
-OCZ Vertex 3 120gb sdd
-Seagate 1tb hdd
-Thermaltake Chaser MK-1

5 out of 5 eggsWorks GREAT in WINDOWS 7

Pros: I understand some people don't understand technology. That's ok! Your mistake is forgiven. The card works fine in windows 7, don't be dismayed by that guy who said it doesn't.
Also would like to add, played Crysis for 73 hours straight on this on max settings.

Plays like a champ. with a 7.6 on windows experience rating index.

Cons: No cons. The card is a video card, its mid range in price, and you always get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 eggsCard sucks, doesn't work with windows 7

Pros: Card works perfect in Windows XP and Mac OS X Lion

Cons: Doesn't work with windows 7 with Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4 motherboard. No matter what you do with bios, drivers, install, ect.. this card does not work with this combination. Computer will not let you install windows unless you use integrated chip on the motherboard. After you install windows 7, put the card in and be prepared to wait 30 minutes for windows to get passed "starting windows" screen. After that have fun restarting your computer every 30 minutes. Installed with windows xp no problem. I haven't heard jack from customer support at Gigabyte for this card... Hoping to get my GD money back!

Other Thoughts: Don't buy unless you love wasting time and staring at startup windows.
