  • newegg WINDFORCE 3X: Anti-turbulence Cooling WINDFORCE 3X features 3 ultra quiet PWM fans. The special inclined triple-fan design effectively minimizes the flow of turbulence between three fans. With a unique vapor chamber, WINDFORCE 3X is able to transfer heat from the hot spot to the cool spot as thermal energy becomes evaporated to the surrounding air. By capillary action, the condensed liquid droplets circulate back to the base of chamber. The cycles of evaporation and condensation enhance heat dissipation for greater cooling efficiency. Moreover, WINDFORCE 3X is equipped with three copper heat pipes to strengthen the speed of heat dissipation.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: Does work and runs cool

Cons: mini HDMI port makes hooking up multiple LFDs just that much trickier.

Other Thoughts: No that this card has been discontinued on newegg I have found out just how much it costs elsewhere and I am happy I got it here.

5 out of 5 eggsWas worried now very pleased

Pros: Performs extremely well 1920x1080 42" screen; diablo3 and Blacklight Retribution run flawlessly.

Cons: HDMI connector not active on post

Other Thoughts: Like Isley I had the display driver crashing repeatedly and at first I was very worried. Tried two or three different driver revisions trying to resolve. I bought this in conjunction with "1 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (8 x 4GB) " and "1 x ASUS P9X79 DELUXE"; after using the Asus-provided OC Tuner, this problem went away permanently and resulted in an 8% OC to boot. I am extremely happy with this card and feel I made the right choice for today's games, knowing I can add another when the software overtakes the hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsGot this as Open Box deal

Pros: Silent, powerful, durable, runs very cool (doesn't go over 55C when playing Diablo3 and WoW at all settings maxed) and the fan is just inaudible.

Cons: Tiny amount of coil whine at certain loads, but I can only hear it if my ear is next to the case.

Other Thoughts: Using the latest nVidia drivers helped make Diablo III run smoother. The card came with the latest BIOS already loaded, so I cannot comment on what it would be like as brand new. No issues with the most recent BIOS.

Power draw from the card with Kill-A-Watt (on a Phenom II x4 @1.35V) is 275 Watts - when playing games. At idle, the system uses around 120 Watts with a 750-Watt 80+ Silver PSU.

Got this for $275 from NewEgg as an Open Box deal. Someone else's loss is my gain!

3 out of 5 eggsDisapointed

Pros: Great Card great speed but problems right from the first day I've had it.

Cons: The first day I had this card the display driver kept crashing on me. One one day two the next day and now it happens ten fifteen times a day. I've rolled back drivers updated drivers done a fresh os install it still crashes. I'm stuck with this card till i can drop the money on a 680 and hope to go there aren't any problems with it. Be ware of which card you buy!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Was great at first

Cons: About 2 months in, started to get excessive TDR crashes, first one would be after about 40 minutes of use, then one 15 minutes later, then 5 after that, with the time between them speeding up until the computer would just crash completely without the driver recovering. Over the life of the card, the first crash has been coming earlier and earlier, now to the point of crashing 5 minutes in. Monitoring of the GPU usage shows near 100% while performing tasks that used to only tax it to about 30-40% and consequently heat has gone up as well. I have even tested the card in another machine, but the same issue occurs. Gigabyte's website is a joke, suggesting that I install the most recent drivers (while linking to drivers that are older than my current ones) and after searching for way longer than I should have to, it tells me to contact the vendor for warranty support, while newegg's site says it doesn't handle technical support. I have filled out an RMA request, hopefully they fix it.

Other Thoughts: It was great while it lasted, all 2 months of it.

5 out of 5 eggsGIGABYTE GV-N580UD-15I

Pros: Read my other thoughts:
This card burns through BF3, Metro 2033, Crysis, etc.
Quiet, stable, and fast.
Got this on a weekend deal for $329.99AR, I have never been burned by Gigabyte on a rebate.

Cons: Read my other thoughts:
Two Gigabyte Wingforce GTX 560 in SLI beat this card but run in the 70C to do it.

Other Thoughts: When I first booted to this card it would not run stable at it's rated clock, I UNDER clocked it to 750MHz and it ran well.
It was not getting enough voltage for 795MHz., I'm not talking about PSU voltage, but what the card's voltage regulators were providing.
I have ALWAYS had good results with Gigabyte's tech support, so I thought I would try them before an RMA back to the EGG.
Flashed the card's BIOS to F33 and this thing has a whole lot of head room.
Rock solid stable at 875MHz and only 1.063mv, temps have not exceeded 56C.
Google the review on this card to see what it can OC to, 1005MHz on air!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: -Plays BF3 on High (1920x1200)
-Plays Everything else on Highest settings
-Fits in my mid tower case (cooler master centurion 5)
-Matches my gigabyte motherboard

Cons: -Doesn't support 3d surround like the 680.
-Don't have 2 for SLI

Other Thoughts: Waiting for the price drop after the GTX680 release to grab a second one for SLI. Running Strong for 10 months. I've used all the ports in different configurations including dual monitors with no problems. Make sure you have a decent power supply with the proper amperage on the +12v rail. Don't use a $20 one that was included with your case.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this card for Battlefield 3

Pros: It's a GTX 580.

Cons: Card crashes constantly in Battlefield 3 ("Driver has stopped responding and has recovered").

Other Thoughts: I played Battlefield Bad Company 2 in DirectX 11 mode on this card, with the occasional crash, but when Battlefield 3 came out, this card was constantly crashing, rendering the game unplayable. I've tried this card on two different motherboards (including a brand new X79 board), and the card still won't cooperate.

I went and got a Zotac AMP! edition GTX 580, and everything is fine now. While the Zotac card did crash occasionally in Battlefield 3, there was a BIOS update available (something Gigabyte has yet to do for this card) that completely fixed the problem.

In the mean time, I RMA'ed the Gigabyte card, and it was sent back to me. I tested it today, and the crashing persists.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is crazy

Pros: This thing is dang fast. I put it up to the test, and wow!
Age of Empires Conquerors expansion - runs flawless. I had the res set to 1280x720 and everything on high and it ran great!
Solitaire - Runs smoothly now instead of choppy like before.
Tribes - The best first person shooter ever made. Ran like a dream!
War Craft (first edition) - just like the other games
Soldier of Fortune 2 - It was a little too intense for the card, but it was tolerable. A bit laggy but what else would you expect for this game.

Cons: It was so expensive! But worth it to really experience the games that I mentioned above.

Other Thoughts: I think this baby will carry me for another 10 years of playing video games. But if you are an intense gamer like me, you need the meanest machine on the block.

3 out of 5 eggsAwsome Performance

Pros: Great cooling system and extreme performance

Cons: 1 card that I bought back in March just died on me after having my 2nd card for SLi for a week. Started getting random BSODs and then my video signal completely stopped. Narrowed it down to the original card and now my computer works fine with the newer one but now the older one is broke...

Other Thoughts: I don't know what to do...
