4 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: This little card has been run almost 24/7 for 6 months without a hitch.

Low cost with rebate.

It meets my needs (non gamer)

A decent amount of time to submit the rebate so you have time to test it before destroying the box and naking it unreturnable to Newegg.

Runs on Win XP 32 bit, 7 32 & 64 bit, Linux Mint 11 & 13 64 bit.

Cons: Little bit of a runaround for rebate but not bad.
Have to turn off on-card audio when not using the HDMI.

Other Thoughts: I have a fan directed at the Northbridge that gets the video card as well and a case with good airflow so I can't say anything about heat issues.

If you think your going to get a good gaming card for under $150 with rebates... Good Luck.

I haven't had the time to test the HDMI yet so I can't comment on it. (Yes, six months later.)

5 out of 5 eggsBasic Video Card

Pros: Low Price
WHS2011 drivers
HDMI connection

Cons: None really. Other than the DHL 7 day delivery from NJ to NC. Hate to see what it would take to go across countly.

My bad for using it.

Other Thoughts: This is not a gaming card by any means. I just needed a better video card for my server that would handle video conversions better. Does find for what I need.

Not kicking NewEgg for the shipping. Dropping in a USPS box and it would have arrived 2-4 days faster.

DLH moved package from NJ to MD, back to NJ, then to GA and back to NC... What a mess......

3 out of 5 eggsHDMI sound failed after 1 month

Pros: Inexpensive, silent.

Cons: HDMI sound was intermittant from day one, but it worked sometimes. Re-installed /updated drivers, re-installed OS several times. Tried different HDMI cable, different HDMI port on TV. RMA'd the card since it was past Newegg's return period. Gigabyte tech support returned card with same issue. I am currently using the card with VGA(yuck) port and onboard sound card. Not why I bought the card in the first place.

Other Thoughts: Paid to ship the card back to Gigabyte and they shipped it back to me with no explanation of what they found. "Dear Valued Customer,
We appreciate you being patient with us.
We have finished testing your GIGABYTE product(s) and it is (they are) being returned back to you."

2 out of 5 eggsOverheats

Pros: Inexpensive with rebate. Low profile. Quiet (fanless).

Cons: Overheats and causes PC to do random shutdowns. I had to mount a fan on it to keep it from overheating.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte's fanless heatsink design is not able to cool the 5450 graphics chip. If you do not have a case with good airflow, this card is NOT recommended.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: inexpensive video card with hdmi, dvi, and vga. I don't game so I don't know where this card falls as a gaming card. It is passively cooled which is important in my application. I installed this card in a new build where the computer will be a DAW (digital Audio workstation).

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: passively cooled. no noise. have not noticed any issues with excessive heat

1 out of 5 eggsNot good with Ubuntu 11.04

Pros: none

Cons: This g-card doesn't work well with Ubuntu 11.04. It makes my Samsung LED monitor go blank, as though I had turned my PC off, after only minutes of turning on the PC. I tried using both open-source and proprietary drivers. The mobo it was attached to is a GA-870a-UD3 rev 3.0.

Other Thoughts: This card may work well with Windows.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking Good

Pros: Has been working like advertised. I bought this thing for $10 after rebate so it was well worth it.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsMy backup card.

Pros: Good for basic graphic functionality up to HDMI. Comes with low profile bracket. Cooler seems nice, covers the chip and the RAM.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Don't expect it to play graphically intense games! Based on the specs and cooler it is not designed to do such. It'll add HDMI capability to a system whose integrated video is insufficient to the task. Power consumption is low. If you crave more stability or to overclock, or lack sufficient airflow in the case, you can add a fan to it.

5 out of 5 eggsHD 5450

Pros: No fan, no added noise and no worries about a fan failing. The highest temperature I've seen has been 45C but usually runs in the 35-40C range, not bad for a passive cooled card. Can use DVI and HDMI at the same time.

Cons: There would be lots of cons if I were a gamer but I'm not.

Other Thoughts: I needed a card that would let me use DVI and HDMI at the same time which my onboard video wouldn't do. This card fit the bill and as a plus it is compatible with my onboard HD 4290 for Hybrid Crossfire-X.

1 out of 5 eggsrebate bating

Pros: A decent card for an HTPC with a decent rebate offer

Cons: I have no problems with the card perse but I have a real problem with Gigabyte and their rebate process. I've been buying and processing items almost at a professional level for over 10 years and I've learned most all the tricks that they use to deny rebates. I'm meticulous with my documentation and I follow the rules to the letter. But still Gigabyte finds ways to cheat me out of the rebates. The last several ones I applied for have been rejected but only after the resubmission date has pasted. I'm done with Gigabyte just like I'm done with MSI despite their good products. And even if they lay it off on World Wide Rebates, they need to pay a price for who they do business with.

Other Thoughts: None
