Serious gamers require serious gear. That’s why the Super Overclock Series is developed. All of the GPUs in these graphics cards have been cherry-picked for top performance, efficiency and reliability. The innovative GPU Gauntlet Sorting selection process ensures that only the highest-performing GPU processors are used in these graphics cards. Coupled with the Ultra Durable VGA boards, users can rest assured that the Super Overclock Series graphics cards won’t let them down as they step onto the digital battleground.

The GIGABYTE GV-N680SO-2GD ships with NVIDIA GPU GeForce GTX 680 which combines high performance with exceptional power efficiency. GPU Boost dynamically boosts clock speed for extra performance. New anti-aliasing modes eliminate jaggies without sacrificing frame rate. And NVIDIA Surround lets you game on three monitors from a single card. Furthermore, the GV-N680SO-2GD ships card is equipped with the WINDFORCE 5X thermal design, perfect for gamers to achieve an unbeatable gaming performance and to meet a higher standard more easily.

  • newegg Ultra Durable VGA+ Gigabyte’s ultra Durable VGA+ includes everything Ultra Durable VGA offers including 2 oz Copper PCB, tier 1 Samsung and Hynix memory, Japanese solid capacitors, ferrite core chokes and lower RDS (on) MOSFET for lower GPU temperature, better overclocking capability and less power switching loss. To make best thing better, ultra Durable VGA+ adds 5 proadlizers to deliver 1.6x purer power than traditional power design (0 proadlizers).
  • newegg WINDFORCE 5X thermal design WINDFORCE 5X features up to 5 fans. It uses an anti-turbulence pull airflow system, so the air comes in the bottom of the card along the motherboard PCIe slot and then up and out the top of the card. Moreover, WINDFORCE 5X is equipped with nine 6mm copper heat pipes and a unique vapor chamber to strengthen the speed of heat dissipation.
  • newegg OC GURU ll Brand-new instinctive user interface makes it easier to monitoring and adjusting all important settings. Users can set up MONITORING, GPU CLOCK, MEMORY CLOCK, FAN, GPU VOLTAGE, Memory VOLTAGE, OSD, ONLINE SUPPORT and update driver, BIOS directly.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: In the beginning the frame rates were decent

Cons: You name it. The weight of the cards are flat ridiculous., they literally pulled my PCI-e slot out of the motherboard. The heat was totally absurd and the cost was not worth it. Avoid at all costs

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card - A few concerns

Pros: Runs FX-heavy games and 3D apps with no problems. Never worry about frame rates again. ...probably.

Cons: Minor issues with heat. Video playback in #2 monitor goes wonky from time to time.

Other Thoughts: Bought this card as an upgrade to my aging EVGA GTX 570 HD. I do 3D and VFX work so I wanted a CUDA based card that would play well with Maya, Adobe products, and rendering programs like Bunkspeed. This card has done a fine job for the price.

Also, when I find time to play the occasional game it is nice to be able to crank the FX setting to their max and still pull frame rates in the 60s or 70s.

I have noticed that when I am running the system hard the card does live on the warm side. ...but this is hardly a surprise and I haven't had any shutdowns, so I prolly shouldn't list it as a con. But it is a concern...

My only real gripe with this card is that I have had rare cases where my screens will flicker for a few seconds. A driver update seems to have helped. But even now, my #2 monitor will still occasionally go out of sync if I am playing video on that monitor. A quick power reset on the monitor resolves it for a while. It only happens on that screen and it only happens when I am running video (i.e. Netflix in a browser or a movie in Media Player..) I suppose I *could* look at the monitor as the problem... but I never once had this issue with my older GTX 570 doing the same things in the same monitors. <shrug> It's annoying... but it hasn't stopped me from working. Yet.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster Card!

Pros: This card is huge and looks awesome! Runs pretty cool and can pretty much handle any game at full settings. Runs great in SLI!

Cons: I'm not going to dock this an egg for this because it was an easy fix but upon first installation and boot up one of the fans on the cooler was making a super load whining noise. After I investigated I found out but just loosening the heatsink screws on the card that go into the fan resolved the problem. I guess it was too tight from the factory and was causing some rubbing or something. lol

Other Thoughts: This is my third gigabyte card and I've never had a problem with any of them. I am running this card in sli with another Gigabyte GTX 680 on a coolermaster 850w power supply and I've had great results. I can play any game on highest settings at 2560x1400 and AA on with no problems at all. I can even run Metro Last Light highest settings with 2x AA with only minor slow downs in certain areas but I heard that happens even with Titans.

5 out of 5 eggsRelease the Kraken!

Pros: - Fastest factory overclock with a warranty
- Excellent OpenGL performance
- Very high quality construction
- Unorthodox and impressive design
- Runs very cool (36C idle, 68C after 30min running Furmark 100% load at factory overclocks)

Cons: - None, but if really pressed, perhaps noise (See Other Thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Be sure you have sufficient room in length and height to install this card, as it is a leviathan. This beast of a GPU weighs over 5lbs, so be sure to secure it tightly at the 3-slot mount and also use the provided rubber supports. There will be only minimal sag (about 1mm) if installed properly.

It is important the power supply provides sufficient current on the 12V rail (46A minimum per Gigabyte's docs) feeding the card, be as absolutely ripple free as possible, and also be very stable delivering all voltages. A bargain power supply, even if rated for high-wattage, will not allow you to run this card (or actually any other high-end hardware) reliably, much less overclock it to even higher levels with any degree of long-term stability.

Since this card uses 5 server-grade 40mm fans, there was much criticism in the computer media about the potential this card has to "make your ears bleed." I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive, but I decided to pull the trigger to buy it anyway. After I powered it up for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't as bad as the bloggers and magazines made it sound.

There are two things you need to know: First, your computer case must provide an ample flow of cool air. The better the case flows, the less rpm the integrated fan controller of the card will demand, thereby running much quieter. The second is the proper use of the included OC Guru software or, if you like, MSI's Afterburner. With either of these, you can custom tune the fan profile of this card to suit the way you'll load it. I have mine set so that when I perform my normal work, the card is only lightly loaded and it runs dead quiet. Really. Dead quiet! When set for my heavy 3D graphics loads, the fans run at higher rpm's to sufficiently cool the card and the resulting fan noise is noticeable but not obtrusive. Most of the noise you hear is the card laughing at what you throw at it. That said, I would submit a practical compromise of performance, proper cooling and noise is attainable.

I have to honestly commend Gigabyte's courage for stepping outside of the box when designing this card. It is also one of the reasons I chose to buy it. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Newegg also deserves praise for its excellent customer service.

4 out of 5 eggsFast, stable, large and loud

Pros: - fastest factory overclock you can get on a 680 at the moment.
- seems stable and nvidia drivers are amazing.
- coming from a 7970, this wasn't much of an upgrade. I just could not stand the drivers on my ati card any longer. This is a pleasant change.

Cons: HEAVY. It's so heavy that Gigabyte includes some rubber stands to hold the card up.

I knew this before buying it, but this card is large and very heavy.

The fans make a high pitch whistle which can be distracting. I did not know about this and was a little annoyed by it at first.

I am thinking about RMAing the card because of the noise, but from my research, it's normal for this card. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle of replacing it. I am getting used to it.

Other Thoughts: It does what I expected it to do. It's fast and I can max out most games I play. I wish I would have known about this noise before hand.

5 out of 5 eggsNever got it...

Pros: Opportunity to try this baby out however I never received the item. I give 5 eggs because it looked good on paper, and Newegg did everything they possibly could to make sure that the issue was taken care of to the best of their ability. Have been a customer for years and their quality customer service made sure that I was taken care of and that I will in fact remain a loyal customer for many years to come.

Cons: Never received the item.

5 out of 5 eggsInnovative cooler design!

Pros: Probably the best OC GTX 680 card I had so far. This thing doesn't exceed 50C under load and idles at 30C. The heatsink and shroud design is attractive! and those five fan do push quite some air and is silent compared to my case fans.

Getting over 80-100FPS in 1080p gaming ultra
in the latest hardcore games like Planetside 2

Cons: This card sags slightly under its own weight! the back-plate can use a higher gauge thickness than 16 gauge least 14 guage in thickness so it support itself without any additional bending itself under.

2 GB of VRAM is kinda outdated for a top of the line GTX 680 model
a 4GB version would be better bang for the buck. in short I want a 4GB version of this beast! :D (but I guess its too late now)

Other Thoughts: I want to get another of this beast in SLI but I'm afraid my 1000w PSU can't handle it...if Gigabyte engineers and tech support tell us how much Watts and Amps needed to run SLI with these beast. I'd get another one right away!

5 out of 5 eggsI think we got a winner....

Pros: Very well made card. Replaced my HD 6950 2GB ref card that was bios flashed to 6970. I gave up on my AMD rig and swapped out all intel/nvidia. And I couldnt be more happy with this beast of a card.

The fit and finish is great. Nothing bent or broken. Looks much better in person, but thats usually true with anything. For a card that cost just over 500 bucks with this much factory stock power already set. Best bang for the buck and best single gpu 680 card out there at the moment IMHO.

Cons: None of these are really a con...just a little heads up. the card is big with a little extra weight. But if you are using a good quality card...hopefully you are also using a good quality case too. I mounted this card on an asus z77 sabertooth board. the plastic that covers the board makes it very tight to use the rubber pads for the card. basically you cant put it like they tell you to. Just be patient with it.

People claim its loud and a little annoying?... they must not have owned any 6950s or 6970s from AMD then, hehe. I havent been able to get this thing hot enough to ramp the fans to 100 yet. Ran it on msi kombustor, and got the fans up to 79%. There was a slight high pitched whine, but nothing to write home about. Especially compared to oh lets see.... my old AMD xfx 6950 at 60% fan speed. If loud fans were what made a card the best.....then the old 6950 would be king hands down, lol.

Other Thoughts: If you can handle a big heavy card thats factory oc'd higher than some other 680's can manually oc. runs cool, and is very quiet...(to my AMD/ATI ears). then this is the card for you.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper Overclock Goodness

Pros: Huge factory Overclock, Dominates everything I throw at it on Ultra Settings with high FPS. Averaging 70-75fps in BF3 MP on Ultra. Can't wait to try out Farcry 3, but I'm enjoying BF3 a whole lot more since I installed this beast.

Cons: Not really a con but this beast is a monster. Make sure this card WILL FIT you case before purchasing. I have a Antec 1100 Super Mid Tower and this beauty fits real nice!

Other Thoughts: I truly amazed by what Gigabyte has done with the design. With the Windforce 5x Thermal Design this card only reaches 60C during heavy gaming. I switched over to the green team and I'm not looking back. If your looking for a card you do not have to tweak to achieve the performance your looking for than this card is for you. Like some people, I grew tired of tweaking AMD cards only to think I found the sweet spot before everything came crashing down.
