5 out of 5 eggsBIOS UPDATE!!!! For The 650ti

Pros: Some of you people that award yourselves 4-5 stars for Tech. knowledge, I ask, Do you lie to your wife, kids and Boss too. FYI if you go to Gigabyte support there is a BIOS update dated 03/22/2013-(F-12) addressing EFI!!!!!. The very first thing you should do before installing a new Mobo and/or a Video Card is go to the Mfgr. U.S. website and check support/downloads for the current BIOS, Drivers etc. For Video Cards a person with 4-5 star knowledge should also know to go directly to Nvidia or ATi for the latest Drivers!!!!! This Card Does support Windows 8 and runs like a Swiss Watch in ALL Linux Distro's.

For Linux ubuntu, regardless of the Derivitive/Fork you're using, add to your (software sources) the PPA for xorg-edgers/swat-team? Google ppa:xorg-edgers.
Update synaptic and you will have the current Drivers and Kernel you need for both both Nvidia & ATi. For people that lack the knowledge/skill for Linux Drivers/Kernels, this is your BEST Source. I'm in Linux-ubuntu-Voyager 12.10 and again, it is running like a Fine Tuned Swiss Watch!!!! Enough Said.

Cons: It won't make my morning smoothie. LOL.

5 out of 5 eggsGood card for your money

Pros: Quiet card and reliably powerful. Also comes with a cable that is works with a 4 pin molex connector in case your power supply doesn't have a 6 pin PCI-e cable.

Cons: Nothing much other than needing two slots since the card has a vent that needs to be used.

Other Thoughts: The first card I gotten was defective due to it overheating even when idle. I RMA'd through Newegg it and got a replacement within a week. Card works flawlessly and I can play most of my games (Left 4 Dead 2, Payday, Borderlands 2 etc) on maximum settings. This is a good card to get if you need extra oomph in your gaming needs but don't want to spend too much on super powered cards.

1 out of 5 eggsWindows 8 UEFI Not Supported

Pros: If you can get it to boot up, it's a great video card. Problem is this card does not support the UEFI BIOS in Windows 8.

Cons: I contacted Gigabyte tech support RE: Install problems on my Windows 8 desktop including the famous Black Screen problem. Got this reply today from Gigabyte: The GTX 650Ti does not support the UEFI bios. If fast boot is enabled in UEFI, it (the card) cannot be detected during p.o.s.t. under Windows 8.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte or Newegg or somebody should have this information CLEARLY POSTED on the box, in the card's specs, or someplace. Or at least "Not recommended for Windows 8 systems."

4 out of 5 eggsMake it fits if you DONT have a tower case

Pros: Great card, works great in Windows 7 and on Hackintosh ML, doesn't seem to be compatible with Snow Leopard as far as I can tell.

Cons: The power plug inserts into the side opposite from the PCI insertion point. In my case, since it is an HTPC form factor, (i.e. not a tower) this means the plug wires come out of the top of the card and do not allow the top of the case to slide back into place. Now my nice receiver-looking case looks worse because I have to leave it open. If you are using this for an HTPC with a case in this form factor, make sure there is enough clearance for the wires to come out of the top before purchasing. If this description seems confusing, look at the 360 view for the 8 pin plug connector on top of the card and imagine another half inch for the wires to come out.

3 out of 5 eggsNVIDIA incompatibility warning

Pros: For home use, video and photo editing, fast, and crisp multi-monitor displays under Windows 8. Great video card.

Cons: "When installing an after-market graphics card into a certified Windows 8 PC with UEFI enabled, the system may not boot." - NVIDIA support

Other Thoughts: After reading many reviews citing problems installing after-market video cards on Win 8 PCs, it seems there is a problem with UEFI/Widows 8 graphics card support. I found a work-around, and can confirm the GTX 650Ti works great on my ASUS WIN 8 i5 3330 desktop. The install is no picnic.

1 out of 5 eggsBlack Screen does not work at all.

Pros: Great specs. Good build quality. True HDMI output (except it doesn't work at all, yet) and 2x DVI-D and one D-SUB (non of which work, yet)

Cons: Does not work at all when installed in a 1x PCI-e x16 slot in my ASUS mother board desktop. Just a black screen from each of the four video out ports. Since there is no display, it is not possible to install drivers or anything else.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps there is some incompatibility between the GTX 650 Ti and the ASUS motherboard. Or the video card is damaged or defective.

5 out of 5 eggsLovin' It

Pros: Short lil card that delivers in every game. Real HDMI not a mini. Great fit in my Mini Itx HTPC. Runs Diablo3, Boarderlands2, and Far Cry3 all at 1080p on my 55" Vizio.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Built an HTPC using the CoolerMaster Shoe Box Case, This card, a Pentium G680, 8gigs GSkill, Samsung 840 SSD, and a BluRay Burner. Came together flawlessly for under 600. Definitely impressed.
