This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: Runs anything and everything I've thrown at it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Finished a new build for my daughter and I. Now I can watch her play Sims 3, and she can play Spintires... No limits, full settings at 1920x1080 at 144hz. Boss.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: The card is really quiet - I know that some other people have said that it's pretty noisy, but mine is very quiet, and rarely gets above 65c - that is on the EXTREME high end (during extremely intensive games). Most of the time it sits between 32 - 35c, and during casual gaming it's usually in the ~50c +-5c. It's been able to handle all of the games I play at "Ultra" settings (including Watch_Dogs, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Assassins Creed: Black Flag, etc...). I also really like the heatsink design (other than the parts listed in the cons) - it seems to keep the card really cool.

Other than that, nVidia keeps their drivers updated and constantly improving - I'm came from an Asus 6970, and there was a noticeable difference in performance and graphics.

Games usually don't use over 2GB of VRAM, though I've found that newer games are really hogs (especially at higher resolutions on bigger screens - 27"+, 1920x1080+). I've found that Watch_Dogs, on Ultra, will use up to 3.5GB of VRAM, Wolfenstein will at times use up to 3GB, even Far Cry 2 will use 2.2GB+, so if you are hesitant between this and the 2GB model, I would suggest, if using a higher res on a bigger screen, to grab the 4GB model (I know there is a 4GB GTX 760 too that you might want to look in to if price becomes a factor).

Cons: These are hardly cons, but are worth mentioning - one is that the card is really long and the shroud around the card with the little "Windforce" logo makes the card wide - I think they could have done away with this little "feature" and kept it a bit skinnier. Second is that despite the fans working well, they do feel a little cheap and flimsy - it's not been a problem, but it doesn't feel as solid as I think it should for a higher performance card. These are really not a deal breaker nor were they a problem for me, but I could see how someone would call them a con.

The only other con that I do feel is a con is the price. I am not a cheapskate when it comes to high performance and quality components, but it seems like there is a larger and larger price gap between editions (the 760 to the 770, 770 to the 780). It seems like you really aren't getting that much more for your money to justify the cost. I bought this card particularly because the gap between the 780 is just too high for what you're getting.

Other Thoughts: Besides the fan quality and the price (both of which are marginal), it's a solid card that runs cool, plays just about everything I can throw at it on the highest settings without breaking too much of a sweat. If you have the money, I would highly suggest this card.

3 out of 5 eggsyou get what you pay for

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: Fast card, was priced much lower than other brands at the time.

Cons: Loud, Coil Whine, rattling fans. My card makes a lot of noise especially in certain games, guild wars 2 being one of them.

Other Thoughts: Bought this card to play BF4 and it seems to have overall done its job. Pretty disappointed with the the cooler though. Would buy EVGA next time.

3 out of 5 eggsGood card

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: Card ran every game I threw at it on ultra. I loved it.

Cons: Everytime I booted up my system the audio was messed up, it made a windy, distorted sound. Would only go away when I completely unplugged it, reset everything and then it would cone back if I restarted the pc. My other Gigabyte card works fine, just not the 770. Had to RMA it. Waiting if Newegg will give me a replacement and will definitely update the review.

1 out of 5 eggsBad HDMI Port

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: Looked nice.

Cons: Card is Huge.
Did not come with any video adapters (dvi-i to VGA)
HDMI port was Bad and would not display any video signal (VGA did work). The top of the card appears to have some residue where the HDMI is soldered onto the board. Appears to be a manufacturing defect.

Other Thoughts: I'll post an updated review when i get my replacement card.

2 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 2 days

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: While it was working, it worked well. 3 fans keep it nice and cool.

Cons: Day 3, it stopped working. Message on the screen said that it wasn't connected to the power supply (I'm hoping a connector had a short in it -- waiting on a new one). I did attempt to contact Gigabyte to see if they could help me troubleshoot the problem (via phone and then via the website) and have not heard back.

Other Thoughts: I'll be updating this in a few days once I figure out whether it was a problem with the card or the cable. Either way, Gigabyte's lack of response to my request for help is a bit disconcerting and I'll think twice before buying a Gigabyte product again.

5 out of 5 eggsGiant, awesome card

This review is from: GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD VGeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card

Pros: -Has handled everything I can throw at it without breaking a sweat

Cons: -Is huge! Make sure your case can handle it.

Other Thoughts: I have this combined with an i7 4790K. Yesterday I was playing Diablo 3 at max settings and Diablo reported that I was getting 140 fps. Yes Diablo 3 came out in 2012, but still. That's bonkers. :)
