4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Video Card - Terrible Glitchy Drivers

Pros: I am using this video card on Windows XP Professional SP3, Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P Mobo, AMD FX-4300 Vishera Quad-Core 3.8GHz (4.0GHz) Socket AM3+ Processor, and 4GB of Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Memory. This video card regardless of the motherboard only supporting PCI Express 2.0 whereas the video card is PCI Express 3.0 seems to play all my games at highest quality with no stalling. According to the Gigabyte OC Guru II that comes on the driver CD is says the temperature is around 37C (98.6F) idle and reaches maybe 46C (114.8F) playing games like Driver San Fransisco. The core runs at I believe 1188Mhz and memory 6500Mhz. It's really not a bad card. I upgraded from a GIGABYTE GV-R489OC-1GD Radeon HD 4890 1GB PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support video card.

Cons: This is really not a problem with the card itself, but more like glitchy drivers. No matter what version of ATI Catalyst I installed from the AMD/ATI website the Catalyst Control Center I could never get it to come up no matter how hard I tried. Even the drivers off the CD same problem. The video drivers seems to work and the card itself seems to be working, but not the Catalyst Control Center part. This is why I'm using Gigabyte OC Guru II to monitor my temperature and GPU and memory speeds. Note the Catalyst Control Center not coming up has been a common problem with other video cards not just this one. Again it's not the video cards fault it's more like ATI's fault for making glitchy drivers. The drivers is why I deducted a egg from the rating.

Other Thoughts: I bought this video card cause it was the only one I could find that still supports Windows XP SP3. It's a really great card and I like it alot just wish ATI would get the Catalyst Control Center bug fixed.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprised!

Pros: Not a bad card! I normally like NVidia better, but I have to say I believe this card handles more than my GeForce GTX 760! I play SWTOR on one monitor and have YouTube up on the other monitor. This card doesn't seem to stutter at all. BUT my GeForce GTX 760 - JUNK!

Cons: Only reason I took off one egg is that one of the fans sounds like either it's going dead or a bearing is going out. Really noisy when playing a game or doing anything for that matter. Quite obnoxious.

Other Thoughts: Other than one of the fans being REALLY loud due to bearing issue I would still buy this and may buy another to use the CrossFire! Anyone do this already?

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Card

Pros: Runs Smoothly and MODestly. I have over 150 mods running in Skyrim with aro filtering on 8x and the AA handled under the catalysis control center never drops below 45fps even with my Athlon at 1080P and it works great with Linux as well

Cons: holds a lot of dust in the fans house is dusty due to it being a trailer from the 60's but have to clean the graphics card fans once a month vs the 3 months that all the other fans in the case can go. it also runs a bit hot and is not a strong over clocker with the cooling solution that it has preinstalled "40C under idle and 60, 65, under load"

Other Thoughts: the 750ti is a great alternative to this for the same price if you want to throw a bone to the green team

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card/First Build

Pros: I bought this card based on a friend's recommendation and reviews. The friend is a true gamer and runs a 780TI GPU. After this card would not run in my 1.5 year old Dell; we tried it in his ~2000.00 build and it performed flawlessly on BF4. I built my own system starting with this card and it is wonderful on Far Cry 3, Thief and Max Payne. Great card for the $$! I am not a "true" gamer.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsDisappointed in the Gigabyte automated help

Pros: Quiet as all get-out, runs nice and cool, and when it works it works well.

Cons: Card arrived partially fried, and over the course of a month developed streaks in display and graphical artifacts that driver changes wouldn't remove. Gigabyte's 3 year warranty is not applying to this card according to their automated service, and I've owned it less than 4 months.

Other Thoughts: Disappointed that Gigabyte's customer service has reached the point where a brand new card will show up as having been owned by the customer for 4+ years, and that there's no recourse other than calling the company and hoping to speak to an actual person that can help.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 2 Fans, stays very cool.

Cons: Doens't handle a heavy load

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but it can't really handle alot. I'll have 2 games open at once and the card will immediately start to put out lines/pixels showing that it can't handle it.

Hopefully I can figure it out, because I might have to pick up a different card if it continues to persist.

That being said, I did get two games out of it, including the new theif. Can't be too terribly upset.
