5 out of 5 eggsBeast

Pros: i got this card since december was an upgrade from my gtx 670. and i can say this card is an absolute beast, i got mine when it was the top end at over 700 bucks, now it has an amazing price tag, the most heavy game i have played on it was shadow of mordor, was able to install the ultra texture pack and play with no problems, even now that nvidia added the new DSR technology into these cards i can play shadow of mordor all ultra on 4k using the dsr and the game runs good.

its extremely quiet at the point were it seems like its turned off.

Cons: none so far, maybe that at the time was VERY expensive.

Pros: * Update from previous reviews

Wanted to post another little update for folks as I have had pretty extensive experience with this card. I had posted previously about heat being a pretty big factor, and it is. One other thing that I have noticed as I read up in more detail on the GeForce GTX 700 series architecture is that the NVidia driver package automatically overclocks the cards based on what it thinks the card can handle based on temperature and power consumption the card detects with its onboard sensors during gaming.

This sounds all well and good in theory to generate maximum performance for the user, but unfortunately the driver software has a tendency to overestimate what the card can handle. For example. With this card, Gigabyte has designed the card to handle 1085MHz maximum core clock. Well I've used MSI Afterburner to monitor my card's clock speeds during heavy gaming and I've noticed that the driver package apparently thinks my card can handle more, and takes it upon itself to clock my card up to 1137MHz during gaming. And at times, this can be too much for the card to handle, even with aggressive fan profiles enabled.

So, I used MSI Afterburner to set the core clock to a -52MHz setting and this has corrected the NVidia driver issue to ensure that the maximum core clock it will set on the card is 1085MHz during gaming. Zero crashes with this setting enabled with an aggressive fan profile.

Cons: Just wanted to pass this along to folks in case it is helpful.

Pros: - Great out of the box 'plug and play' capabilities as other reviewers have mentioned.
- The cooler on the card is very quiet and keeps temps no higher than 76 Celsius at 100%
- Demolishes games at max settings at 1440p resolution
- Has a slick design and will last at least until 2016 no doubt

Cons: - HIGH power consumption (gpu z calculated 90-95% TDP)
- LOW overclocking ability out of the box even though it comes factory over clocked (to fix this issue, you need to manually set the fan and prioritize GPU temps, I've been able to OC by 15%)
- Uses nvidia reference PCB in design (unlike the GHZ edition)

Other Thoughts: While the overclocking issue was solved by increasing voltage and maximizing GPU fan control, I feel like 100% fan speeds all the time couldn't be that great for the GPU.
Others complain about stability issues, but so far I've been able to control them and OC a whopping 15%. From what I've heard, the OC edition is more stable than the GHZ edition. I ended up getting a 2nd one of these because the 980 gtx just came out and reduced this price severely. I believe that 2 780 ti's will last quite a long time for 1440p gaming.

2 out of 5 eggsNot impressed.

Pros: Reasonably quiet.

Cons: Performance is not that impressive, but that I was dealing with. 5 months in and this card is extremely unstable, constant driver and game crashes. Anything that uses hardware GPU acceleration is unreliable until I turn it back to software acceleration. Fresh install of Windows 8.1, still didn't help. System worked perfectly with previous card.

Other Thoughts: Very disappointing, I'd gladly trade this in and go back to an AMD card. I can't go without a performance card in my work/play computer while waiting for warranty. I really didn't want to shell out more money, but it looks like I may have to.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrating Game Crashes

Pros: This card works fine for moderately graphics intense games like Skyrim, Dishonored, Borderlands 2. No problem at all cranking up the settings to ultra.

Cons: If you'd like to play BF4 for more than a few minutes without it crashing on you, this is not the card for you. We initially thought it was driver related, some people said it was a DirectX issue. So we attempted every "fix" we could find to no avail. Most recently we adjusted the card fans to run much faster. No luck. Now reading the reviews after it has been out awhile, it is really sad to see we are not alone---there is a serious problem with these cards and since we've had it for a number of months now, we can no longer RMA. We are out nearly $700. Our Dream Build has been terribly frustrating because of this one component.

Other Thoughts: The price on this card is no one near low enough to risk having the problems we've had. I would avoid Gigabyte cards, especially when you're looking at such an expensive, high-end card. Not worth the possible problems.

Pros: Ok guys, just wanted to write a quick update on this card. I've had it since March / 2014. I've noticed a lot of folks are having the "random crashing" problems. Here is what the issue is as I have since run into this and found a solution. The stock fan speed profile is simply not aggressive enough. Because this is a factory overclocked card, heat has an even bigger impact on it than on a reference clocked card with regard to stability.

As it got into summer and the temps in my house warmed up, I started running into random crashing in games, but the card was fine in the spring when it was cooler. I downloaded Afterburner from MSI and didn't change the clock speeds or voltage at all, simply used the built-in custom fan profile tool to design a more aggressive fan profile configuration.

Cons: Cont'd from above -

Since enabling this more aggressive fan profile, I have not had a single crash on my system. Temps on the card never go above ~75*C (fan speed is usually around 75-80% at that temp with my custom fan profile).

Other Thoughts: So anyway, just wanted to share with you all as I've noticed a lot of reviews mentioning the crashes -- I'd bet money it has to do with the temperature of your cards since these are factory overclock models and they don't have the tolerance to heat that a reference clocked card will have.

Pros: works as advertised, no issues with ordering, shipping, installing, or configuring

Cons: too pricey to justify buying

Other Thoughts: replaced a pair of 5870's with one of these; I intend to buy a second one in a few months

2 out of 5 eggsQuestionable

Pros: TBD

Cons: Just received the 780-TI in the mail today. The gigabyte box looked like it has already been opened and they may have sent me a used graphics card. I don't want to RMA and deal with re-stocking. Seems like others may have been experiencing the same thing. I hope this doesn't relate to others having problems with this graphics card within the first few months. Kind of disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Runs everything maxed and then some, stays cool. Not too loud.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Purchased because it was the cheapest by far at the time of purchase. Would of went with EVGA, after reading some of the negative reviews, but no issues so far.
