2 out of 5 eggsNoisey

Pros: Great card, performs well, no performance or installation issues.

Cons: This card utilizes 3 high speed plastic fans, which are lightweight and flimsy. They work great at idle, but when this thing spins up under load, you'd be better off gaming in a wind tunnel. The noise this thing produces is next to intolerable.

Other Thoughts: As it was a gift, I can't return or RMA for a Sapphire Toxic.

2 out of 5 eggsgood, for a few days

Pros: Worked beautifully for the first TWO days

Cons: Ive done almost everything in the book for fixing a graphics card manually with software and hardware. I even underclocked the card and still suffer from lockups and flickering. there is only a few times when it does actually perform correctly, and thats in titanfall. But even then i still live in fear of a lock up. as soon as i see flicking i hit ctrl alt del as fast as i can. so unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: My first build, not a great first impression.

2 out of 5 eggsProblematic

Pros: The build quality seems decent, and it has all of the port options I required. Noise hasn't been bad either.

Cons: Since installing this card, I've had nothing but issues. First, I'm a linux user using OSS drivers. Coming from another Radeon which has treated me well (HD6870), I expected stability and a decent performance boost in games such as Metro LL. No such luck. As I've now seen many other folks report, the card runs ok for a while, but then it has a tendency to flicker and ultimately lose any signal to my displays. Occasionally, the kernel recovers, but if it happens once, a lock-up is soon to follow.

It's been easiest to reproduce playing XCom, but the lock-ups also happen when simply browsing the web. The card seems to pass various stress tests I've conducted, so I tried other kernel/mesa versions to no avail. Swapping in my old HD6870, everything works beautifully.

My desktop doubles as a pseudo-server, so uptime is very important to me. This card is far too unstable to keep. Perhaps it's an issue that can be fixed with future driver updates or firmware, but it's not worth the aggravation. I will probably try to RMA.

Other Thoughts: My setup:
Software: Gentoo, OSS Radeon Drivers, Mesa 10.2.6, Kernel: 3.16, X Server 1.16
Hardware: Phenom 1100T, 16GB Patriot Viper Xtreme Memory, Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5, Corsair HX-850 PSU, 2x256GB Patriot SSD (Raid 0)

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid and reliable product.

After 9 months of intensive gaming sessions, still no issues.

Cons: Under load, the fans are very loud.

The card is also noticeably longer than my MSI Gaming 280x.

4 out of 5 eggsAs Expected

Pros: Performs as expected from experience with a 7970.
Stays cooler than expected in mini itx build (60C under heavy load).
Fans are not noticeable even under heavy load in mini itx case.

Cons: Flimsy plastic frame - I have a Gigabyte 780 Ti windforce, which is not plastic. Was very surprised when I found it was plastic. Perhaps I should have looked at the pictures closely.

Other Thoughts: I should have expected cheaper materials from a cheaper card but the plastic really threw me. How flimsy feeling it is also concerns me.

1 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE

Pros: It's a decent card when it works.

Cons: I've been tearing out my hair trying to deal with the flickering problem that everyone else seems to. My BIOS is at F60 and there are no updates to address this problem while other manufacturers like Sapphire and MSI are taking care of their customers. I would highly recommend going with a different manufacturer for this card. This is unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte needs better technical support.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's great, but

Pros: - Silent when IDLE
- Can push 1440p enough.
- Under 300 dollars (in the right conditions)

Cons: - LOUD when gaming
- MOTHER. EFFIN. COIL WHINE.
- Those two things is the only cons i see.

Other Thoughts: Coil Whine. I can deal with it I guess, let's see for how long. Otherwise nice card.

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased for Crossfire

Pros: Great FPS, keeps extremely specially on crossfire and you put this card on top, because of the 3 fans, it will maintain alot cooler then my other i have and it has worked great. My case has great air flow but still didnt want to take a chance on burning the cards on crossfire so having this one on top worked out great

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Good purchase, can run any games with single card, but just wanted a little more that was all

1 out of 5 eggsBroke quickly, received numerous broken replacements

Pros: It might work

Cons: 1. Sent back for an RMA when the card exploded. Received a unit with a good GPU and two broken fans (won't spin unless you spin it with your finger to get it going, then it makes a grinding sound)
2. Sent back for an RMA for two broken fans, received a unit with one broken fan. They only replaced one of the two broken fans, even though I put a not one the fan itself that they work both broken.

I'm had 3 cards and none of them have worked for more than a month, two have been broken out of the box. Gigabytes RMA process takes months and you pay for shipping. I'm down $55 in shipping and haven't had a working card for months.

Other Thoughts: I've had other similar experiences with Gigabytes RMA. I'd be stupid to ever buy a gigabyte GPU. Asus is still the gold standard.

Total cost of ownership
$500 initial cost
$55 for shipping
$80 for aftermarket replacement cooler

Has been used for 1 of the past 4 months.
