4 out of 5 eggsGreat card...but had issues.

Pros: This card was powerful, quiet and stayed cool. Ran firestrike very well along with a few other games I tested with it.

Cons: I had an issue with the display ports. After a week of trying 4 different monitors with the same issue of the card not recognizing the monitors, I did a RMA with newegg.

Other Thoughts: Taking one star off for miscommunication. My biggest complaint is with the RMA. Sent it back for replacement and got a refund instead. Was told I got the refund instead of waiting for the item to be restocked. The item was in stock with in less than a day of my refund.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card!!!

Pros: Fantastic performing card. My display right now is a 2560x1080 will be upgrading in the future i am getting 140fps at some points with BF4 never dropped below 90 on ultra settings!

Cons: Had a little coil whine when running a benchmark for the first time but the key to getting rid of it ,is keep benchmarking then letting it cool then heating it up and so on...Its now completely gone after 10 mins of doing that I have not heard it since!

5 out of 5 eggsA giant improvement

Pros: Very sturdy, QUIET, and runs at low temps

Cons: Long but to be expected considering. You need a big tower for this.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded and made the change from the ati 5870 to this card and I am not disappointed. I do not hear any coil whine at all like some of the people described below. I chose this over the other 970's since its overclocked impressively to begin with and the tri fans are running cool and quiet. Did a benchmark with Middle Earth - Shadow of Mordor and was running on average 75 fps on ultra settings except for textures (you need 6gb of video ram or higher). This was at 1920 x 1200 on an i7 930 oc to 3.77ghz and 12gb of ram. Played for a few hours and did not get any hotter than 50c. the fans never kicked up higher as well. Highly recommended for the OC purposes and this card can even go further (up to 1500mhz). For 200 bucks you save over the 980 if your not running triple monitors on 4k, this is *the* card to get.

5 out of 5 eggsFast. Cool. Beautiful.

Pros: This card is just amazing. Im going to be honest, i haven't bought a high end gpu since the radeon x850 xt pe which was a monster at the time. This card has been able to play every game i throw at it at 1080p at the max settings. SSAA, no problems. Ubersampling, no problem. This card was built for a 1440p monitor and no less. I wont be planning on buying one for a few years, but i feel very comfortable and happy knowing that this card will play anything at 1080p for a long while. The card is beautiful to look at and temperatures never raise above the 50 mark. I've done little stress testing while overclocking, but temperatures haven't raised much, but a lot of it may have to do with ambient temperatures and case design.

Cons: The card at the moment seems to be extremely rare to get, and i got very lucky picking mine up. PICK ONE UP if you plan on starting your build this month, or upgrading because i don't see this being openly available for quite some time.

4 out of 5 eggs4 stars... Hopefully 5 soon

Pros: -Fast
-Great Cooling
-Did I mention. Runs very cool? Coolest 970 on the market by far

Cons: -Coil Whine

Other Thoughts: I did my research.... The Gigabyte G1 970 binned chip is the best on the market.

HOWEVER... Even with headphones on, you could hear a huge screeching sound coming from inside my case (coil whine). I'd say playing games with over 70 FPS would cause this.

I don't understand how a perfect card could come with such a giant flaw. How so much R&D could go into a board, back plate, cooling system, the whole package, only to be brought down by loud coil whine is beyond me.

I understand some cards have mild coil whine, but there needs to be at least some quality control and testing for this. From what I understand, it's a simple fix.

I attempted to RMA my card. Newegg said if none are in stock when my RMA is received, I will have to be refunded. I don't want a refund, I want another 970 G1. I spent countless days waiting to click the add to cart button and FINALLY being able to actually purchase this gem, only to be disappointed. This card is just about always sold out. If I get refunded, I will not spend more time waiting for this to come back in stock. Would be completely unfair...

I will not upload a video review for this one. I believe in second chances. Hopefully my replacement has just a little coil whine, or none at all would be nice. I'm not asking for much, just don't want the very loud screeching sound.

5 out of 5 eggsGtx 970

Pros: Amazingly quite and a powerhouse with looks to boot. A nice metal backplate and a sturdy design with great ventilation. This does exhaust into your case so make sure you have enough air flow to compensate for that.

Cons: Custom pcb design, good luck finding a full length water block.

Other Thoughts: There seems to be driver issues with directx when trying to down sample 4k in bf4 with max AA. That is a driver issue however and this product performs as advertised and by far exceeded my expectations for overclocking performance.

5 out of 5 eggssmokes my old sli

Pros: Was expecting modest improvement from my old 650ti boost sli set up. Was wrong got huge improvement not only in frames but stability. BF4 at 120 fps on max settings. Got core clock just under 1600 mhz didnt go about 60 degrees. Original plan was to sli this guy but now I might not have to. Great looking card too back plate was a nice touch. I'm really starting to become a believer in all things gigabyte. Great value for your dollar here you will be happy if you go with gigabyte binned gpu's for your next upgrade.

Cons: Rejected my advances

Other Thoughts: I think I still will sli these. Just because of how awesome it will look. LOLOLOL.

2 out of 5 eggsProblems galore

Pros: back plate

Cons: Large, coil whine, clashing led with their gaming series, and coil whine again.

Other Thoughts: I ordered 2 of these in the past week due to high load crashing and coil whine issues with the first one, and now even worst coil whine with my second one! (I held off on my review in hopes that the second one would be the good one)

I was told that these cards were the best of the new 970's I have used other gigabyte products before and liked their reliability but this has been a bad dream for me (newegg prevented it from being a nightmare). The entire point of me avoiding the strix and the msi version (Both of which I tested from a friend and neither gave my rig coil whine so I am almost sure it isn't me) was to avoid those issues.

I can not recommend paying a premium for this card over the cheaper version if you can't even avoid an issue like that.

I'm open to this being made right, but the time I have had to dedicate to this over the past week is really upsetting for me.
