1 out of 5 eggsFire!

Pros: None at the time!

Cons: This card caught fire inside my system. Although it was many years ago, I feel like giving a review. Back when I contacted MSI, they told me there was nothing they could do about it.

2 out of 5 eggsNo HD input

Pros: This is the rest of the previous review

Cons: Neither composite nor S-video will carry HD. This card will NOT convert a standard video input to a high definition output! Which means the VIVO on this card will always be in standard definition - not HD.

The fan and heat sink that came with the card are absolute junk. The heat sink is a rough aluminum casting. The fan actually fell off the heat sink. I replaced the MSI trash with a Zalman MA-7000 heat sink fan that works. That was a mistake.

Now, the card has stopped working. I received a RMA from Newegg. But I have been informed that since the card was modified with the Zalman cooler the warranty is void. The only option would have been to return the card when the fan fell off and receive another card with a junk cooler that does not work.

2 out of 5 eggsAfter a year of use I recommend buying some brand other than MSI.

Pros: Nvidia makes a terrific 6600GT platform. When the card works it really works well, It can easily be over clocked. I finished Far Cry using this card and the graphics were great. It also performed very well on NFS2, Doom3 and Unreal Tournament’s different versions. It provided a good picture with a DVI cable attached to a HD LCD TV. It also provided a good picture thru the VGA cable to that same TV

Cons: Cons: One selling point was that the MSI card came with a large bundle of Cds. Those programs were pretty much worthless. The most valuable program in the bundle was a trial version of Virtual CD Drive that I could have downloaded free from Farstone. The Media Center II program worked partially for a while. Then stopped working entirely. That was when I found that MSI “Customer Service” exists in name only. They do not respond to emails. I posted two questions on the website several months ago. Those questions have still not been answered. The only thing close to an answer I received has been a disclaimer that was added on the web site after my inquiry that states the Media Center II only works with the MSI TV Tuner which is not built into this card.

Another selling point was the VIVO (video-in, video-out) and the fact that the cards puts out a HD display. However, the only video inputs available on this card are composite and S-video, Neither composite nor S-video will

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a product from MSI again.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you have AGP, you need this card!

Pros: I am running an old system.

2300+ Sempron @ 1.58 GHz
1GIG PC3200
6600GT 128 MB
430 Watt PS

I run Call of Duty 2 on 1024 X 768 on all max settings with X4 AA with 80 FPS. I havent even tried going to higher resolutions, but I'm satisfied because my games look so realistic now.

BTW if you watch DVDS with this they will be in HDTV which is AWESOME. Your monitor is a HDTV with this card!

Cons: I don't have a case window to look at it :)

Other Thoughts: I love this card.

4 out of 5 eggsStrong performance , reasonably priced

Pros: Game realism is increased through detail & lighting. Movement is much less erratic than with a card with standard DDR.

Cons: What the included game doesn't tell you is that a downloaded patch for the game to support OPENGL 1.3 or higher, in addition to updated card & NVidia Drivers. 350W + PS required. Memory clock may use extra energy, increasing system temperature.

Other Thoughts: After switching from a GeForce FX5600, this makes a big difference. Only 128 MB of GDDR3 will easily outperform 256 MB of standard DDR. The extra power may increase system temperature, and I'm not an expert in that area, but the card delivers a strong performance for a reasonable price.

3 out of 5 eggsehhh

Pros: Shipping was good this time around...nice packaging...fast card can turn settings to very high on eq2, and turn on most settings for aoe3...

Cons: it maybe be fast but the picture quality in eq2 is lousy ..very lousy..also the game that comes with it saying the card not support open gl 1.3 and thus will not work...i have tried about 4 different sets of drivers and tons of settings and cant seem to get picture quality any better or the game to work.

Other Thoughts: I have put in about 5 vid cards in my various computer..for some reason the last two i have put in have given me problems..i usually just get a actuall ATI card but gave this a shot..not a bad card and probly with a bit more knowlege it would be a great card.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI-Most Superb Invention

Pros: This card is dynomite for an agp. I put it up against any other cards that are "supposedly" in it's class. Benchmarking will show you the difference!

Cons: None! Easy to install, Works best with driver version 71.25

4 out of 5 eggsLooking good.

Pros: Excellent speed for the money. MSI is a great manufacturer. AGP interface, great for upgraded older systems. Not loud at all, don't know what that's all about mine is as no more loud than my old ATI 9000 Pro.

Cons: Needs good power supply, 350+, I'm running a 300 watt, it works but i don't recommend it.

Other Thoughts: I'm playing BF2 on almost all High settings with an inferior system backing this card up: AMD 2800@2000, 1 gig PC2700, I suspect that my new 350 watt PSU, one more gig of ram, and a small processor upgrade will get me maxed out. Just a little something for those of you looking to upgrade for that particular game.

1 out of 5 eggsHeatsink and fan fell off.

Pros: Don't Know any yet couldn't get card to work. I'll let you know after new card gets returned.

Cons: I installed card turned on cpu Everything starts up fine then poof monitor goes out look inside case and the heatsink & fan had fallen right of off the card. I smelled ozone an could see that the card was toast.

Other Thoughts: Hope new card lives up to all the great hype I've been reading about this card.
