5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: Lets me play my games on top settings (Lineage 2, Bioshock, etcetera) and I have no lag or problems whatsoever. Great price, too.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI NX8600GT

Pros: I was looking for a good budget card to hold me over until I bought something more hardcore (8800/9800) and spotted this card. I mainly spotted it because newegg had an open box deal on it for $49.98 and was more appealing than the $88-$99 range these cards are in. As for performance all I can say is wow. I expected it to allow me to play WoW and FEAR pretty cranked up, but didn't expect much else. I have WoW in 1280x1024, everything maxed, 2x multisample and it holds 50fps no problem. I tested Rainbow Six Vegas, BF2, FEAR, and Test Drive Unlimited all maxed (FEAR pc set to very high, graphics set to high) and everything played smooth and beautifully. These aren't high-end games or anything, so then I tried out Race Driver: GRID which just came out in May, and IMO is one of the most intense and realistic racing games ever made. I have it in 1280x1024 with every option as high as it can go with no AA or multisample and the game plays perfectly. It looks amazing, and plays smooth.

Cons: No fan, which to some isn't a con. I don't mind the noise of fans and like the piece of mind they bring. If it wasn't such a good Open Box deal I would've bought something with a fan. Heatsink is crooked and runs alittle warm. I think the heatsink is crooked due to a consumer not MSI. Since this was an Open Box, and by the looks of the card, someone bought it, the heatsink got in their way and they tried to bend the piping alittle for room. Apparently it didn't fit and they sent it back. Although its alittle bent, it doesn't seem to affect the card. I had plenty of room and btw, the heatsink is not nearly as big as everyone makes it out to be. It was running at 80c after about 4 hours of playing GRID, but my pc isnt complete, need some more cooling. I removed my cases side cover and it dropped to 66c-70c under load.

Other Thoughts: All in all I'm extremely satisfied. I was worried about Open Box but Newegg once again made me happy. Everything that is included in the retail version came with mine, nothing was missing. Card worked right out of the box. MSI's added utilities were helpful, and I can't wait to start Overclocking. ECS GF8200A mobo, AMD Athlon x2 5400+, 2GB Wintec AmpX PC6400, 250gig Seagate Sata HD, cheap dvd burner, cheap 480watt psu(for now), Thermaltake A3 cpu cooler, Windows XP Ultimate SP3(you can't buy this version of Windows and don't ask where I got it), Apevia case. All bought at newegg.com

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card 2 issues

Pros: See the features for the money. I find it to run generally cooler than most cards I have installed, quite impressive. I play MMORG games like WoW and Eve with full on graphics and watch HDTV on the same Vista based system no Issues. (2.5 gigs ram makes that possible)

Cons: O.K. there is a HDMI audio adapter cable that seems not to exist pictured (I tried MSI and the web.) in the box I had to resort to external sound options with HDMI. MSI Denied my rebate over obscure terms (I KNOW it was done correctly)with no recourse other than reaching NewEgg for help.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line Would buy again from NewEgg same card. I Will never again buy rebated products for rebate price. I have found no matter how well you follow instructions you will be lucky to get 1 out of 5 rebates.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice card

Pros: Good card for the money, just bought my second to complete my SLI setup. Have all my games with all the pretty stuff turned up.

Cons: Might need some extra of fan or air extraction, as the heat sinks put a lot of heat into the case.

Other Thoughts: great card great price!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Card, Still No Rebate

Pros: Good card, in the wife's computer she's not a gamer, not much of a computerer for that matter, so all I know is the Vista rating of 5.0 in Graphics and a 5.3 in Gaming Graphics.

Cons: Not a lick on my Newegg but still no rebate and I've had this thing for two months and got a rebate from another company already.

Other Thoughts: I have 640 gb 8800GTSs in SLI in my rig and only get 5.9, I wish M$ would release a more realistic rating system.

2 out of 5 eggsNot sure about this one

Pros: looks good on paper

Cons: Where to start 1. wont fit in my case, 2. wont fit with my heatsink I am using on my cpu, 3. Poor Customer support from the company.

Other Thoughts: I probably wont buy another MSI product due to the fact that there is no Customer Support from them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card low price

Pros: System before card: Dell Dimension E510, Pent D processor 2.8GHz, 1G RAM, ATI Radeon X300 128MB, running XP. Accident with my DVD drive drawer gave me a great excuse to upgrade. Turn something bad into an opportunity. Saw this great looking card for a good price, only thing is I had to increase my power (was only rated at 305W, not enough for the video card). Also picked up a gig of RAM and new power supply. Before the upgrade I tried running the Witcher demo, boy was that a bad idea. Choppy choppy, couldn’t even see the intro. Even on lowest settings my system was yelling at me it was pathetic. But now after the card, power, ram changes the game looks great. Intro ran smooth, beautiful game graphics, I can’t wait to get into it.
If you want to upgrade for not a lot of money, it’s a great card. Just be sure you’ve got the power if you have an older system. It’s big (heat sink), but really easy to install, even I could do it and it was the first time I ever opened a compute

Cons: none i can see at this time.

Other Thoughts: Beautiful piece of equipment. Just looking at it and observing the improvements, I’m amazed that such a great piece of engineering can be mine for such a low price! Plus free Witcher game! Can’t beat this deal, thanks Newegg!!

5 out of 5 eggsDependable, silent card

Pros: This card has proved to be a very reliable and absolutely silent card (having a noise-free card was the primary reason I chose this card). I'm not into gaming, but this card handles any of the video / photo editing I've thrown at it flawlessly. My Windows Vista experience rating improved from a 3.3 to 5.0 after installing this card.

Cons: No problems to date. I'm not into gaming so bear that in mind.

Other Thoughts: Be mindful as to the real estate available in your case prior to purchasing - the cooler is large. This card fit without a hitch in my Dell Inspirion 530 (Im running a Quad core processor). But it just makes it with no room to spare.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent card

Pros: Fanless - I don't know if this affects the performance of the card, (ie does it clock lower when it heats up?), but this is definitely something to look for if you want a quiet machine. The heat sink is huge, so dissipation is pretty good and the noise is non-existant.

Cons: GDDR2 RAM! There's a lot of little numbers and specifications in computer hardware, and this was one of the ones I missed. I probably would not have picked this up if I had caught this one. As it is, I'm still glad to have picked up a decent game and a new card for ~$80. Size is an issue to consider, but I did not have any problems.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this card if you're trying to build a killer gaming rig, even if you're trying to pick up the mid to high side of last generation hardware. This is a great card if you'd like to play some new games from time to time and you hate noise.
