4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This particular video card has been in more than 10 computers over the years and hasn't failed me at all yet. Also been damp, outdoors, and handled roughly throughout its extensive life.

Cons: Rather large.

5 out of 5 eggsSweetness

Pros: This graphics card rocks. I upgraded from a HIS radeon 4670 (which was very good too) to the gts 250 and i noticed a difference. You can even overclock it in windows display properties!!

Cons: The fan was really loud at the beginning, but after the driver installed - which was perfect installation - there was not much noise.

Other Thoughts: This graphics card is the bomb. Much cheaper than the gtx 260 and still kicks and has a lot of power. If your thinking about this one, get it. It is very good.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: So far it's running cool. I manually put the fan to 100% and it hits 51C while folding. It idles in the low 30s....quite cool running. Fan is quiet, and works well. The card is light overall, and seems pretty well built: it's MSI...they tend to make good things (never had a bad thing from them myself).

Cons: I normally consider having zero heatinks on the RAM a bad thing...and I still do. However, having touched a chip while it was in the middle of a game (UT3) revealed that it's barely warm. Maybe it doesn't need much cooling.

Other Thoughts: This is a stopgap card for the moment, as I'm waiting for something with a bit more muscle to come in the mail, and this will become a physx number cruncher.
Also: this has been the first time in years that Newegg didn't pack something 110% perfect...the box containing the card was sitting on a lot of folded paper in the top of the shipping box. No damage, but it was a little less than I've seen in the past 6 years I've been using this site. Still, no harm-no foul.

5 out of 5 eggsWowzer

Pros: I used to own the 8800 gtx. I sold it and bought this instead and it was well worth the price. It is shorter, uses less energy, runs cooler and smoother too. Gosh, I wish I had an SLI board to get a 2nd one. The fan runs so quiet. I guess I am the lucky few that got the card that doesn't make mechanical noises.

Cons: Nothing so far.

5 out of 5 eggsTo Reviewer Bob

Pros: Bob, check your shroud around the fan. I had the same problem. It was making an awful mettalic clanking sound when I increased my fan speed above 60%. Come to find out it was hitting the black shroud/cover. So I pulled it up a bit right around the fan and now it's great. I have it running at 60% under load and 30% at idle with the temps I described in my earlier post.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

1 out of 5 eggsBad fan

Pros: Supposedly it's fast, but...

Cons: That doesn't matter much because the fan is clanky and incredibly loud. It rattles terribly - it's obviously not running smoothly. This isn't just your normal loud fan - it's obviously going to break within a short time.

Other Thoughts: Luckily I have an extra Zalman GPU cooler, so hopefully that will work. It seems to be working fine so far. Newegg has had a lot of returns on this item - they put a few open boxes of these on the website every day. So be careful...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: I got one of these cards to replace 2 8500 GT's that were running in SLI. I can not begin to explain what a difference this card makes! I can play Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2 with every single option set to its highest setting with no slowdown. I can also run Empire: Total War on all max settings with very little slowdown when zoomed in on about 300 troops duking it out. That might not even be the card, because the system I run isn't exactly a top of the line rig.

Cons: About 4 days after I got the card the video driver/card crashed when I clicked out of a tab in Firefox. However, that was about 3 weeks ago and have not had any other problems since then.

Other Thoughts: This is a great card that will run anything you throw at it and make it look good!

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive Performance

Pros: The card aside from being a lower end 200 series is worth the expence for a significant performance improvment. From the original 9600GT that I was using prior to the 250GTS the pc was only getting a 10126 on 3dmark06. Once the new card was installed I am now running 12918 on the 3dmark06 with the standard rez of 1280x1024. So if you would like to put this in comparison on the average 9600GT going for between $90-110 the extra $40-50 is well worth the cost.

Cons: There really isn't any cons to this card, especially with the performance it has. The only thing about the card is when the card arrives the fan sometimes comes into contact with the black fan shield, but nothing a little bending can't fix ^_^

Other Thoughts: All in all this card receives 5 eggs for the overall performance to price.
