This is a Beast
- Pros: Have not tried crysis as I am way to lazy to install it, however It runs fallout 3 all max with max AA and all that fun stuff with absolutely NO drop in framerate or any lag at all, Vastly better than my 8800GT lol.
Temperature is not much worse than my last card, about 55-65 C under load (fan cooling, well managed case)
Noise, its mostly quiet except during startup
Does not burst into flames when you start your computer.
Makes pretty gfx
Cost (If you got it when it was on sale for 50$ off)
The cons section looks daunting, but allot of it is case information, its a great gfx card, Would recomend it to Anybody, even if it means upgrading your case.
- Cons: These WILL NOT FIT in the Antec Nine Hundred cases* There is simply not enough room, especially to SLI these. There are some cases Mid cases that will fit these, but I recommend the PSU is on top, otherwise wires reach across the card which is a No-No.
*OK, I lied, you can make them fit, but it takes some work, you will need to remove the Drive bracket in order to get it to fit, but if you do it that way ALL the cables go across the GFX card and some hit the fans. You have been warned.
Cost (If you did not get it when it was $50 off =D)
Sounds like a black hole opened up inside your computer during startup, quiets down after that though.*
Temperature is also a con, nothing should be idling at 50-55 C. Friend has one that idles at 60 C (Non additionally Oc'd), but I won't take egg off for this.
*Note- No real black holes open up inside your computer during startup as a direct result of this card.
- Other Thoughts: This is 10.5" long, which is too wide for allot of Mid tower cases, one of the best cases I have found for this is the Phoenix Neo. (Sorry Newegg, I love you guys but you wont carry this =*( ) The power plugs (2x 6 pin gfx power connectors) are located on top of the card, so in theory you could fit it in a space that is 10.51" but I don't recomend this =D.
MSI does not always make the cheapest stuff, but you get what you pay for, the quality is always very good and it comes well packaged
You probably will not need to OC this any further than it comes, handles everything I throw at it.
While I have never owned an 8800GTX let alone SLI'd them, Word is this or the Higher series of the GTX are a great replacement for them.
Be advised it does take at least a 500W PSU for these.
Good Stuff
- Pros: Fast...very fast. And cdeap!
- Cons: It's kind of loud, especially during startup.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace two 4850s in crossfire, and this did the trick. To be fair, there was nothing wrong with the performance of the Radeons. In fact, they were excellent in Windows. Unfortunately, ATI's linux drivers just plain don't work right. I like KDE, I like the desktop effects, and I want to be able to watch a DVD, something a ten year old PC can do!) without glitches or crashing the system. This card gives me the best of both worlds, Windows and Linux, for which I am very glad!

Slow Fan
- Pros: At stock OC the card runs the only 2 games I play MW1 & W@W on very high settings, but not quite maxed. If I manually turn fan to 100% I can OC it to higher settings & run the games maxed. Installed easily. Quiet.
- Cons: If I OC the card at all, I have to manually increase the fan speed or it will hangup and shut down. Sure, I can increase fan every time i game, but the "auto" fan should increase based on the temp. Running Furmark with it on auto the fan does fine, but it waits till temp gets fairly high, before really kickin in to cool things. Apparently in game, that doesnt work so well.
- Other Thoughts: Does anyone know how to get the "auto" fan to react quicker or how to tie the fan to temperature? I'd like it to kick in to 100% at about 50 degrees instead of like 70.
Great Card
- Pros: -Great Performance, there isn't a game I've thrown at it that i couldn't max the settings on. Great replacement for my 8800 GTS 512.
-Runs very quiet.
-Factory overclock is always nice.
-Doesn't go beyond 65 degrees under full GPU usage.
-The non-stock cooler is very attractive, to me at least.
-Suppots audio through an HDMI adapter that is included with the product for 1 cable auido/video. Great if you use a TV as a monitor.
- Cons: -The Card bends under its own weight. This is because the cooler does not have a large plate over the PCB like the stock cooler does which allows it to bend under its own weight. This has yet to cause any issues, but it remains to be seen if this will cause problems over the coming years. The bending is further caused by the weight and pressure from the 2 6-Pin power leads that are plugged into the very end of the card.
-The PCB is red. Would really have preferred black but thats just a matter of taste.
-The cooler has some very nice looking heat pipes, but they face the motherboard when installed, would really have liked them to have been located on the other side making the visible when installed.
- Other Thoughts: Just a couple points about the card in general.
-This is a 10.5" card so make sure you have room in your case for it.
-It is fairly power hungry, it requires at least a 500 Watt PSU with 40 amps on the +12 volt rails, though it ran fine on my old PSU that only supplied 32, just keep that in mind.
-This card is a great middle ground between the GTX 260 and 285, using the GPU of the 285 and the memory of the 260.
-I would really like to see NVIDIA start designing their cards with the power connections located where the sli headers are atm, this would allow the pressure of the power leads to be right where the card is physically attached into the case and not all the way at the end of the board.
Works good
- Pros: Works pretty good, overall it is what it says it is. Sounds like a leaf blower on start up, then idles down. Nothing to worry about works like a charm.
- Cons: You need two 6 pins to run this card. They dont come with but, your PS might not have them. I had to buy adapted to my 4 pins. huge ordeal. I thought it was kinda big. i was lucky for it to fit into my comp. Runs like a champ tho
- Other Thoughts: I have a weak power supply so it crashes at moments of huge explosions in games or even when its mad at me.
