5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME but sadness D:

Pros: This baby is a shear beast. It overclocks well once you put a new cooler on it and ram sinks (the Mushashi = win!). I flashed it with the Asus top bios and overclocked it to 915/1000 @ 1.175v but was having artifacting. I finally got it stable at 1000/900 @ 1.185v! Yeah, thats right, I got a freaking 25% overclock out of this baby!

Cons: This thing can only hadle up to 1.2v. Anything higher and you risk damaging it. I ran this at 915/1000 at 1.75v with the stock cooler and had temps of around 80C but had artifacting. I pushed the voltage to 1.225 and hit 94C and still climbing!!! The stock cooler is junk but I damaged the poor thing backs it just died a 3 days ago D:

Again, this was caused by me! This can OC to 850+ easily if you do it right and have good cooling. The stock cooler is shear junk! The other reference cooler would have been much better! And when @ 100% the thing sounds like a blow dryer!

Other Thoughts: This thing is a beast and eats my games. I was playing around 40-50fps on crysis set on high @ 1280x1024!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great under Windows 7

Pros: I paired this card with an Intel E5200 dual-core processor and they make a great gaming team. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB of DDR3-1600 memory on an Asus P5E3 motherboard. Installing this card was a breeze... just pop it into the PCI-e slot and download the 64-bit Win 7 drivers from ATI's website. I have Elder Scroll's:Oblivion running on Ultra-High visual settings and it runs smooth as can be. Very impressive for the price!

Cons: This card is in very limited supply right now because it's such a great performer for the price. So it's hard to find but that's only because it's so good!

Other Thoughts: I can't wait to purchase another HD4770 in a couple of months to run in Crossfire mode. I need to save-up a little money first and also wait for more supplies to come on-line.

3 out of 5 eggsNot OpenGL Compatible

Pros: Great card for the money.

Cons: The ATI website stated that this card is OpenGL 3.0 compatible. This may be the case, but the card does not support the full instruction set for OpenGL. I bought this card for a customer who used a 3D Vector modeling program that utilizes OpenGL 2.1 for its shading. This card constantly locked up to the point where the card couldn't even use its auto recovery feature. I called ATI tech support and they had no answers for me other that to return it.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is awesome. Even though they had a nonrefundable, exchange only policy on this card, they refunded my money so I could get a different card for my customer. Will be going with an Nvidia card this time around as they support the FULL OpenGL instruction set, rather than a partial set.

5 out of 5 eggsBlew me away!

Pros: Wow. I haven't had anything that hauled this much graphical booty since my 6800 Ultra I purchased back in the day. Thing is though, I got this at 1/6th the cost too. Go ATI!

Cons: I kinda like the look of the first reference cooler better. The one they put on the final model works fantastic, but I dunno...there's just something about it that isnt beautiful to me. I'm just silly like that though

5 out of 5 eggs4770 is the real deal

Pros: ~$100
Runs very game out there at a respectable frame rate.
Doesn't draw much power.
Provides a level of PC gaming that wasn't previously available for any less than $300

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggs2nd card for crossfire

Pros: second card really makes for a nice inexpensive graphics system, sold my gtx 260 for within 20 USD of the cost of two of these, and am getting better performance.

Cons: No dual slot cooler, that's about it.

Other Thoughts: In windows 7 it has been great, crossfired without a problem stuck in the second card and it propted me to enable crossfire, easy cheesy.

An obvious correction to my previous review wherein I stated that the driver was proprietary, that isn't the case, the driver on the disk was released especially for this card, there weren't drivers for it on the AMD game site at the time and I had concluded (incorrectly) that the drivers were proprietary in order to enable vivid (an MSI proprietary technology)...They work perfectly fine with the drivers from AMD, they're just not available for anything but windows 7 yet, the only reason they're available is because they wanted to release a windows 7 driver and the drivers they were writing at the time offered support for this card. My mistake.

an excellent card and a powerful inexpensive crossfire configuration, don't pass up.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent bang for the $

Pros: Awesome performance for $100, plenty of reviews out there for in depth metrics on frame rates if you're curious, as far as the Windows Experience Index goes coupled with a DKA790GX the graphics scores are 6.4/6.4, memory performace is improved as well. If a single board doesn't do it for you, cross fire them.

Cons: The box incorrectly identifies it as 55nm HD4600. Hopefully MSI will correct that.

Other Thoughts: The best news, though, is ATI just released Windows 7 drivers. MSI doesn't have them yet and CCC 9.5 will be released in a few weeks but prior to that you can download the Win 7 drivers dated 5/5 and it works great. Thanks for reading.

5 out of 5 eggsThis Unit Rocks Windows 7

Pros: This card has great performance. HD movies, high end games all have little effect on the card.

Though I will say my screen Res is 1280x1024.

Colors seem much more vibrant on this card then my 2600xt. DX10 games look awesome in their highest quality settings.

Overall, this card is awesome. Runs Cool (peak temps in my p180 case, were only 112f). Checked with an Infrared temp gauge, as i dont have any software installed yet to determine internal core temps.

Cons: Had to manually install the cards drivers, the catalyst control center cant be installed on Windows 7 using the disk's version.

Other Thoughts: You have to manually install the drivers for Windows 7 RC. You can do that by updating the drivers in the Device Manager and Selecting "Browse My Computer for a Driver". Make sure the Disk is in there and go to your D: drive (or whatever it is called on your machines.) Select the (Ati Drivers) folder and make sure the checkbox is checked for (search subfolders).

Windows 7 will search for the driver and install them properly.

AMD 4000x2 proc (my little bottleneck, awwww)

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated review ....

Pros: Win 7 drivers are now available through ATI, MSI has not yet made them available, though given that the OS isn't shipping yet I can't really fault them for that. Download the drivers released for Win 7 dated 5/5. According to ATI when CCC 9.5 is released in a week, or 2, support for the 4770 will be included.

This board currently resides in an MSI DKA790GX and it bumped up the graphics scores in the Windows Experience Index to 6.4 which is great for a $100.

Cons: The box references the card as a 55 nanometer HD 4600. Looks like someone missed a few edits before the card was shipped out.

Other Thoughts: The driver isn't proprietary and the board will install with drivers direct from ATI so don't bother wating for MSI to update.

Uhhh dude, who isn't running Windows 7? Good thing you replaced your 8800, what kind of chip did that thing have in it? A Dorito?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: This thing smokes! And it is very quiet. I have been a Nvidia fan for years now but I am not sorry I went with this card. I had to install the drivers old school for Windows 7 but after it did work.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You can't beat the price on this just wished it had 1g for memory but then the price would have been higher.
