The MSI R4350-MD512H takes aim at HTPC users with their low-profile Radeon HD 4350 card. This card uses high-density aluminum fins to bring a totally silent solution to HTPCs or general purpose computers that are required to run quietly but can also used for gaming.
This reasonably priced card has enthusiast-class features like 80 stream processing units, 512MB of GDDR2 memory and an integral hardware video decoder. Clock speeds are 600MHz for the core and 800MHz for the memory. HDMI port is provided on the rear bracket together with DVI and VGA out.
Dual mode CrossFireX support lets two or more GPUs be used together on a CrossFireX compatible motherboard for even higher graphics performance. The advanced ATI PowerPlay technology delivers high-performance when needed and saving power when the demand on the graphics processor is low.

I'm Satisfied
- Pros: Alright, so pretty much the main reason I bought this card is so that I could play movies from my computer on my HDTV, which it does pretty well.
In my computer case, which is a pretty cramped Dell, it stays between 60-62 degrees on average.
For anybody who might be wondering about gameage, I ran Crysis on this card, because let's be honest we're all curious, and I was actually surprised that it ran fairly well. Now mind you I turned all the settings down on it to low, but what do you expect from a $20 card. When Crysis was running the card leveled off at 80 degrees max, a little bit of a toasty biscuit but it survived.
Also I read someone's review who said it kept shutting their game off when they played it. I played Crysis for over an hour and I didn't have any problems with it.
- Cons: The only problem that I had with this card was the Catalyst software that came with it. And the story goes as follows...
I am running dual monitors, one of my monitors is my PC monitor (Connected through DVI) and the other is my HDTV (Connected through HDMI). And it was working fine, but EVERY time I would shut off the TV the computer would no longer recognize the second monitor and I would have to go back through the process of monitor detection to activate it again. And sometimes it wouldn't even recognize the TV anymore so I would have to restart my computer. And even then, if the TV wasn't turned on when I restarted it wouldn't recognize it.
Took me a while to figure out that it was the Catalyst software but once I uninstalled it. Everything ran smoothly, and I can turn my TV off and on and the computer still knows it's there.
The only other thing that keeps happening is whenever I turn my TV on the computer screen flashes like 5-10 times. Kind of annoying but not really s
- Other Thoughts: Like some other people have said, I probably wouldn't get this to play video games on cause I don't really think that's what it's made for. I just thought it was kind of cool that Crysis was able to play on it at all.
And for anyone who is interested this is what I have... Weak 350 Watt PSU 3 GB RAM Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz Vista 32-Bit
good deal at $20
- Pros: Cheap!! + HDMI + 7.1 HDMI audio (haven't tested that yet). plays 1080p content smoothly + hardware decoding takes load off cpu
- Cons: large heatsink blocks next pci slot, leaving me with only 1 functional pci slot (plus the pci-e for this card) on my micro atx mobo.. and doesn't run newer games well (barely at all.. but, what do you expect for twenty bucks?)

not bad for the price
- Pros: I use this video card on a gigabyte board and work great. This card didn't give me no problem at all. I using gigabyte board GA-M68M-S2, sempron 140 2.7g and 2gb memory card Kingston. I trough some heavy game like Halo, Grid and Need for Speed PRO no problem at all. I also try using on my HDTV to watch movie and look good.
- Cons: The only thing I don't like software setup for the HDTV. Another thing don't worry about the video card no having fan, it run pretty cool with no fan(41-48 degree)
- Other Thoughts: good for the money
Cheap. Great Solution for HTPCs
- Pros: - Cheap (despite not having even mailed out rebate;laziness)
- Connectivity (HDMI, DVI) - Silent (Heatsink only, no fan) - Simple install, no issues, just works on Vista Ultimate
- Cons: - Uh.... robot chick on box looks kinda creepy?
- Gets pretty low scores on windows experience.. 3.7 or something like that... not really a con for me, I don't play games on my HTPC.
- Other Thoughts: I am using this card on a HTPC in my livingroom connected to a 40inch LCD HDTV. The onboard graphics card did not have HDMI and was causing problems with overscan on the screen (will not fill it up completely to edges) and also lagged while running HD videos...
I chose this card based on the connectivity (HDMI) and price. Now I can watch anything I want... looking to buy a bluray combo drive next =) Apparently there's some way to get audio through the HDMI port also... looking into that. You're not going to get some crazy graphics performance for games.. but for the price it's a great buy for HTPCs... pretty much a steal with the rebate factored in.
NOT Happy
- Pros: Cheap and fine for PC monitor
- Cons: Works for HDTV with problems using Win 7 Ultimate, Does NOT work for HDTV with Win 7 Home Premium.
No Rebate has been paid.
