5 out of 5 eggsGreat video card

Pros: I bought this to get DX10 compatibility. I have an older desktop Gateway GT5040 with an Intel d945gcz motherboard (running video card) over PCI Express x16. My last video card had an nVidia 7950GT 512MB and the difference in the performance playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl: Call of Pripyat is very noticeable. I don't know if the upgrade in the video chipset or the added compatibility for DX10 made the difference but I would recommend this card to anyone with a Pentium D processor looking for an awesome video card.

Runs just fine on my Pentium D 3.2 GHz with 3 GB of RAM and 300 Watt power supply.

One more thing to add. I notice is the video card does not require a molex power connector from the PSU. My last video card required it but apparently this video card doesn't draw enough power to require one. The power provided by the PCI Express x16 slot is more than enough.

Great find by me :)

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: An issue I had when looking for a video card was the PCI slot space. Many newer video cards take up two expansion slots which, by design, my computer case does not allow that for the video card. It is skinny and fits into a single expansion slot.

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressed!

Pros: Cheap (49.99 AR), was very easy to install and is quite. I used this for a HTPC that I wanted to be able to run most newer games. Of course this won't play the newest games at the highest possible settings but for 50 bucks it plays alot and pretty good too. MSI afterburner is a pretty nice program and easily allows you to boost up your card a bit (OC). Im glad I bought this when i did and it fit my computer perfect!

Cons: MSI Rebate, made sure to triple check everything but I've heard some bad things lately, i plan on updating this when i get it.

Other Thoughts: If you cant accept not running games at the most highest possible settings then don't get this card. If you are looking for a cheap and decent card for a gaming HTPC then this is the card to get.

5 out of 5 eggsFast low cost card (with rebate)

Pros: Card is quite and one of the faster cards for the average gamer in the price range. Has DDR3 memory whereas most in this price range only has DDR2 memory. Fan is quite and I'm able to run Oblivion at the highest resolution 1680x1040 screen size. There was a 20 buck rebate and a sale on it when I bought the card so I got a great deal for 49 bucks!

Cons: Non...other then the rebate which one has to wonder if you'll ever get it!

Other Thoughts: I gave it 5 eggs only because of the rebate and price I got.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat improvement over 7300LE

Pros: This card is inexpensive for a GT 240 with 1GB of GDDR3 memory. Vista user scores went from 3.8 to 5.9 for graphics and from 3.1 to 5.6 for gaming graphics and this is with a PCIe.1 motherboard. HDMI works perfectly. It runs flawlessly in a DEll E521 with a 305 watt power supply.

Cons: None to speak of. You can hear the fan running but just a very low whoosh of air movement.

Other Thoughts: Installation was easy with just 2 hangups that required hard restarts. I contribute this to Norton 360 as I didn't disable it before installation and it has caused the same issue when installing other software. Downloaded the drivers from Nvidia and did not use the included disk. I did remove old Nvidia driver prior to installation, than removed old card and installed new one. Upon restart Windows Vista could not find driver and hung up. Upon hard restart Vista switched to on board graphics. Downloaded new driver and Vista hung up prior to loading desktop. Another hard restart and everything worked perfectly. Understand that I have this problem with most new software ever since installing Norton so I don't consider this an MSI or Nvidia problem, just a too lazy to turn Norton off issue. After many normal shut downs and start ups I have not had any problems and Vista registers the GT 240 and the 1GB of GDDR3 memory. Very happy!

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what you'd expect!

Pros: Power to price ratio. For the money, it's the best card to buy. There's nothing more to it.

It has an HDMI port.

Cons: If I were to really nitpick, I could complain that it doesn't have heatsinks for the RAM, but the card manages to keep cool enough under stock settings. Overclockers might be a tid miffed, but it's not really a big deal.

It only has one DVI port, but the HDMI can be converted to DVI.

Other Thoughts: A good card if you want something that will run games decently for a low price.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: I uninstalled the old card, shut it down, pulled, then reinstalled this card, started up. Installed the software, done! Took me about 10 min. Smooth graphics!

Cons: The install software looks cheap on the screen, but I've had no problems running this on Windows 7.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal failure

Pros: Specs are good. Price was great.

Cons: Doesn't actually work. Received one, RMA'd, received another and both had identical signatures. On POST, text was blurry (like first reviewer). In XP Pro, system would boot into VGA mode due to inability to recognize card. Could not install drivers because it could not identify hardware. In Device Mgr, would show no display adapter devices, when with previous cards (8400GS, 7600GS) would show the tree branch and card type.
After updating system BIOS and chipset drivers, problems persisted. Tried other cards (Radeon 4670, 9800GT) and both recognized instantly, but this one never would.
Specific system error given is Code 12 (see Microsoft support) but there are no conflicting IRQs and the only other conflict is that VgaSave coincides with the PCI Express Root port. No fixes work. MSI support indicated that this points to an incompatibility with the chipset/mobo and the card firmware. don't expect it to work with Intel 9xx chipsets.

Other Thoughts: Through multiple calls to MSI tech support, reconfiguration on my own, swapping between two different systems, and installing other (equal or more powerful) cards, I can only say that this whole model has critical flaws, and points to a QC issue with MSI, regardless of whether this is a 2x card failure or incompatibility.
