4 out of 5 eggsSick performance

Pros: I'm currently playing fallen earth on the pc and i haven't seen a single hiccup with the graphic's maxed out. The performance is much better than my last 8800gt by nvidia.

Cons: A friend of a friend has the same card, after he updated the drivers his card has throttled it self to minimum settings and is stuck in this mode, hes also receiving graphical anomalies. My friends who both work with computers told me to hold off on updating the drivers for a while.

Other Thoughts: I'm a bit concerned about the driver issue, but after testing it in FE, I'm satisfied.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Could easily get this at about 850/1250 on stock voltage.
- Crysis at very high no AA gets about 37fps avg at this card's stock speeds. About 60 avg for high settings. Even better when overclocked.

Cons: - First was DOA. Well it happens to a lot of people.
- Bracket screws don't really line up too well, that's probably my case although.
- Fan isn't necessarily quiet when under slight load.

Other Thoughts: Card price went up. Really 5850s should be ~260-280. They're way overpriced right now, especially the XFX versions.

5 out of 5 eggsA sweet card for the $$$, no free game

Pros: Phenomenal performance in games like GTA IV and Crysis. Actually runs every game at high setting thus far. Pair it up with a quad core so you don't bottleneck the GPU.

Cons: None thus far. This card doesn't come with Dirt 2 anymore. They should change the picture on this page, because I thought I was getting a free game.

Other Thoughts: Someday I'm going to crossfire this to another one. I can't imagine I'll need to do that for at least a couple years.

3 out of 5 eggsworked 1 day.

Pros: Price, specs.

Cons: Worked for less than 2 hours. Now there is no video output whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I know there is a failure rate on components, but it's still disappointing when it happens. Pretty soon a good value buy becomes a mediocre purchase when back-and-forth shipping is factored in.

5 out of 5 eggsreally nice.

Pros: I have to say it is very smooth. I have tried Crysis at max settings, gta4 at max, mass effect 2 at max settings and never even got a rise in the fan speed. highest temp so far has been 63c on crysis. under normal windows use like now my gpu is at 35c. Absolutely great! Dont ask about the manufacture disk drivers I didn't install them after reading all the reviews. I went to ATI website and downloaded them.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I love this card and if it blew up today a week after buying it I would lay down another 300 for it in a minute.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster card

Pros: Great cared for the price compared to the extra cash for the 5870. Extremely quiet and fast. Seamless graphics. Haven't found a game it wont' handle yet.

Cons: Takes up two pci slots on case. If you run four cards, no room to install a pci sound card.

Other Thoughts: I bought an HAF 922 coolermaster case, it only has 7 pci slots, do the math and you will find it wont hold 4 cards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat in crossfire

Pros: It is clocked the same as my XFX Black edition, but $60 cheaper. It idles about 33c in my system with my XFX running 40c, but the XFX is the main card and less ventilated. Easy set up, and will handle anything you throw at it, 88fps average in Crysis on very high, 200+fps in Dirt 2 with DX11. powerful set up in Crossfire that smokes the 295GTX without breaking a sweat for about the same money. They also run much cooler than a single Nvidea card and wattage usage is a lot less than the 295 also, about 363 watts on full load. Great card and if you have the cash definitely get 2.

Cons: Only con is not really a con, my XFX Black Edition has a double lifetime warranty and this card only has a 2 year warranty, but I knew that before I bought it, so like I said not really a con.

Other Thoughts: The warranty isn't an issue for most, we seem to swap cards about every year or two anyway. This is my first crossfire system and it is a screamer. I have been a long time fan of AMD, even in the lean years, but this is only my third ATI card, I would recommend the 5850 to anyone, they are $60 less than the 5870, outperform the 285GTX and run really cool to boot. When you crossfire them, the only thing that is going to get even close to you is crossfired 5870's or the 5970(good luck trying to find one of those...lol).

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome Card

Pros: Excellent graphics card if your going with 1 or more cards this thing will run anything you can throw at it.Same card as the Black Edition from XFX and can be overclocked further mine is running @ 825/1250 stable with fan on manual @ 65% if you can tolerate the fan noise sounds like a small hair dryer but barely noticeable if your gaming with a good set of headphones.

Cons: I cant get 1Ghz core bugger :(

Other Thoughts: If your in the market for a new graphics card buy this one and spend around 70$ less than XFX or other brands .I will be purchasing at least one if not 2 more for my quad crossfireX system.Note these cards are huge and running in CrossfireX they are about a 1/2" seperating them so make sure you have great air cooling or plan to run liquid coolers.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: I bought this card as a replacement for my aging 9800GTX+, which was one of the best cards I ever owned (now it was retired into my sons rig). This is my third ATI card (the other two were Radeons 850 and 1950XT), however I always seemed to like Nvidias Geforce cards better. I decided to buy this because MSI and ASUS allow for voltage overclocking on their cards, which should technically help if you overclock. This card is already overclocked from 725 to 765mhz core. With MSI afterburner utility it is oc'd to 880 core and 1200 memory, which is a decent bump in speeds (@1.22 voltage). The card is very quiet, which is surprising for ATI cards. At 50% fan the card runs at 60° (full load) and idles at about 28-30° with the fan set to 30% (barely audible). Handles MW2, COD5, Mass Effect 2, and Crysis without any problems. Very impressed! Also, about an inch shorter than my 9800GTX. Two DVI, one VGA and HDMI inputs...

Cons: At 299.00 this is the most expensive cards I've ever purchased. ATI drivers are a bit flaky and dont use the drivers that are on the CD as they are 6 months old. Catalyst suite is a resource hog. At 100% fan sounds like a 747 taking off....seriously.

Other Thoughts: Do not install the catalyst suite (install the video drivers only) and install MSI Afterburner to tweak the settings and voila! Very solid product with directx11 support. At 50-55% fan setting is probably the sweet spot that provides enough cooling and is not too loud.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Unsung Value

Pros: An Absolute value at the $299 i paid for it. The core and memory clocks for this model are overclocked, where simular models such as XFX's black edition 5850 was $359 at the time i got it. This card has absolutely blown away every game I've tried on it so far and rips Benchmarks up.

Cons: None. This card Blazes.

Other Thoughts: My upgrade to this card was from an nVidia 8800 GTS 320MB. I had always been wary of ATi products, often hearing slander about bad drivers. Upon installing this card i've had nothing but an AWESOME experience with the hardware and drivers, and the Catalyst system is alot easier to navigate than nVidia's GUI. People that complain about the drivers are often found to have not had the good mind to uninstall the nVidia drivers before hand, which leads to driver conflicts. I look forward to looking into ATi and MSI for future PC hardware purchases.
