1 out of 5 eggsDead Fans

Pros: Was good at first and I enjoyed seeing the software show the temp of the card

Cons: Fans died out, both now after 2 years, unable to RMA the card.... one fan died after 6 months, after first fan died card constantly ran close top max temps even with this "great" heat sync . After the second fan went kaput the card was useless and I am unable to RMA the product because I sent the upc in for rebate, which I never received.

Other Thoughts: Would not buy another MSI card ever again due to the failure to RMA and/or even acknowledge that I sent in a rebate.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast of a GPU!

Pros: Plays just about everything you throw at it, completely maxed! Crysis(check),Crysis 2(check), Battlefield 3 BETA (check).
-MSI Afterburner OC Tool is a must
-Overclocks really well(just make sure you have a really good air cooled case if you aren't water cooling)
-Temps under load around 50-60c(I have LOTS of fans)
-The card looks amazing, very well constructed.
-Twin Frozr II cooling with dual fans is AWESOME!
-I didnt pay a dime for this card, I got lucky and won it in a contest!

Cons: NONE
It would be nice to have 2!

Other Thoughts: If you dont want to shell out $600 or more for a 580, you can't go wrong with this GPU. It overclocks really well, and plays all the latest games at max settings. Do not hesitate if you are thinking about buying this card, you won't be disappointed!

4 out of 5 eggsVery good card but..

Pros: I loved this card it ran everygame i threw at it on high settings with 1920x1080. Very good customer service :).

Cons: I had to RMA this card because two of the fan blades broke off i dont know how that happend but customer service worked it out with me and im still waiting for the card to get here.

Other Thoughts: Very good solid card i wish the fan blades were stronger though. It also ran BF3 alpha max settings @ 1920x1080 i had like 60+ fps :)

4 out of 5 eggsThe Truth

Pros: It does what I expected.

Cons: Temps, I like to run settings as high as possible on a single 28in monitor, but it smokes the GPU's without water cooling. On my latest build I used 3 of these in SLI and temps rapidly shot up to almost 100C. It is most difinately NOT due to lack of airflow in the case so I had to use water cooling.

Other Thoughts: Every GPU I've purchased since the 7900 has failed due to heat unless water cooled. I think the Manufacturers should not provide the high settings if it's just going to fry the cards. The missing egg is for all the GPU makers, I don't care what they say the cards will handle I know from experience that they will fail permaturely at those temps. I'm happy to see cards now offered with water blocks instead of fans.
- MSI Big Bang-XPower
- Core i7-950 & Corsair H50 cooler (w/push pull fans)
- CORSAIR XMS3 12GB (6 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
- 3way SLI MSI N470GTX with Koolance water blocks
- 2X Western Digital WD1002FAEX 1TB in RAID 0
- Koolance Exos-2.5 water cooling in series w/another
120mm radiator in case w/push pull fans for GPU's

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: This card is powerful, I currently only have 1 but plan to get another soon to try out an SLI setup, as it is I can run everything I have on full settings without a hitch (RIFT, Company of Heroes, Microsoft Flight Simulator X) all of them with great graphics and no hitches or freezing.

Cons: The only thing I can think of is the fact that you will need a big case and plenty of space on the board. I have an ASUS Rampage III Extreme board so it can easily fit 2, but trying to fit 3 even on this monsterboard would be stretching it.

Other Thoughts: A big card, but the packaged OC software and easy driver updates make installation a breeze.

5 out of 5 eggsmassive cooling

Pros: runs great and cool even under high load.

Cons: the metal plate on top is about an inch longer than is necessary, made fitting it in a smaller case pretty challenging.

Other Thoughts: This card is a beast! but unnecessarily large in actual size.

1 out of 5 eggsCaveat Emptor

Pros: Great box. Two fans. Plugs well into PCI slot.

Cons: Dead on arrival. The other BSOD - back screen...

Other Thoughts: RMA'd after emailing tech support who suggested plugging in both power supply plugs. REALLY! RMA department wrote back to tell me "We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are currently out of stock of suitable or comparable replacements for your unit(s). In this case we will need to provide you with a refund based on the market value of $235.00. Will you accept this refund?" Well isn't that just special - $40 less than what I paid @ Newegg.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued MSI Customer,

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: This video card is just amazing!!! Playing Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed with everything set to high and the card did not raise above 60C. My Old card (9800GT) would go as high as 88C and then freeze. After Burner software that was included with card is very easy to use and a great over-clocking and over voltage control

Cons: None that I could think of

Other Thoughts: I mainly bought this card for the Mercury Playback Engine in Adobe Production Suite CS5. I had some games sitting upstairs that wouldn't play on my old ASUS EN9800GT (freeze too much on the old card). But now that I have bought this card, I brought them down to give them another try and they work flawlessly with GTX470. Playing these games, the card maxed out to 60C but ran an average of 54C during heavy game play.
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe, Quad Core Q9550, 16GB Kingston Memory.

5 out of 5 eggsFINALLY A cool, quiet GTX 470.

Pros: Unlike other GTX 470s out there, this one will stay cool by about 20 degrees Celcius less under load.
Fans are quiet, cannot hear above my case fans.
Performance is awesome! Great choice for SLI.

Cons: The video card market moves on to new products too fast.
If you're going to run two of these in SLI, make sure your board has enough room to place between them (two empty slots or better would be preferable here) to make sure the fans get enough airflow.

Other Thoughts: AMD 1090T + Asus Crosshair IV Extreme

5 out of 5 eggsNice Video Card

Pros: -Quiet
-Looks Great
-Runs everything I have without a problem

Cons: -would not run in my old system with my old 600w PSU so I was 'forced' to upgrade my entire rig... Actually it was time to upgrade but this card would not run in my old system. I think the components were too old and not enough juice from my PSU. Be sure you are supplying enough power.

Other Thoughts: Running like a champ. I can not think of a negative.

Antec 900
Thermaltake Black Widow 850w PSU
ASRock P67 Extreme4
